My wife wants one of those super bad.
Given she already has 4 speeding tickets in the past 5 years,
not sure that's the best choice ...

TKE, I think (based on the earlier comment!!) Moops can attest
to both the Toyota and Subaru variants being a little down on
power, but they are supposed to be fantastic drives, if going
around corners fast (and sideways) is your thing!! I would love
to have one as a track car
Plus, they look awesome, and Moops picked the best car color
ever!!

It's a fun car to drive, although central OK doesn't have many
roads upon which to really let it shine. It's mostly flat and
straight around here.
The complaints about it being down on power have *some*
validity, but are often exaggerated too. It does fine if you
keep it wound up between 5000-7000 rpms. But I wouldn't
complain if it had 40-50 more hp and a little more low end
torque.
It'll do 0-60 in the mid 6's, which would've been considered
fast 20 years ago. But now you've got so many retro muscle cars
packing 400 hp that it just can't compare to.
I'm looking into an electric supercharger kit for $1500 that
will give me that extra 40 hp or so. There are several turbos
available, but it don't want to modify it that much, and I'm not
a fan of the extra heat.
But drag racing is not what this car is about. It's a canyon
carver, and at that it excels. The seating position is
fantastic, and you feel like your ass is about 3" off the ground
(it's not much higher than that). The steering feel is great,
and there's almost no body sway. It's a scalpel compared to a
Camaro/Mustang/Challenger chainsaw.
The stock tires are intentionally less grippy, and once they're
shot, I'm going to put some wider Pilot Super Sports on it.
Right now, you can definitely hang the ass end out with ease.
It's a different sensation than any other rwd car I've owned.
This one feels like the car is rotating around you, as if you're
sitting at the exact pivot point. You can steer just as easily
with the throttle as with the wheel.
The interior is pretty spartan, but again, you need to consider
what it is intended for. It's not a grand tourer. I've driven
it on a 10 hour trip, and that's far enough. There's enough
road noise to get tiring after a while, and the ride is pretty
stiff. It doesn't jar your teeth, but it's no Lexus either.
You definitely feel the road surface.
I do love driving it and don't regret the purchase. If
anything, it only whets my appetite for the next step, and I'm
already softening up the wife towards the idea of a Porsche
Cayman S. Maybe after my kid gets out of college...
Go test drive one. Make it a manual if you can. I've never
driven an automatic. And no, I haven't gotten a ticket in it
yet either. This is my first and last black car too. I bet
I've washed it 300 times, and I'm not joking.
