Official Indiana opening day of Bow Season. Let the hunt begin.
Amen and best of luck to all you hunters, Wherever you may live
and hunt. Stay safe and be very wary of other hunters. Baggin
and Taggin a monster or two this year. Hell Yeah!! I only Bow
Hunt for any haters out there. My family and I eat alot of deer.
I can tag 9 a year. But only take the 2. I could bag another 6
on my families property (65wooded-acres).But I have no
reason, only looking for those 2 special bucks. Open season till
1-03-16.

Moose season finally ended last week; didn't even get to take
the rifle for a walk... yet again. Always next year. Hopefully
get some grouse and rabbits next weekend. Good luck to you!

And by the way; respect for you being a meat hunter, only taking
what you can use. I have no use for 'horn hunters' who let meat
lie. Bow, rifle, or black powder makes no difference to me; but
if you kill something, you should have the decency to eat it.
(Predator control obviously a different story, yuck!)

It is not just about the hunt for me. It is alot more. I could
bag my 2 in the 1st week but I really like just being back in
the wood. I may see over 250 deer in the next 3 months and lots
of other game. But may not get the last tag filled until late
Dec. just to be back out there is my "ME" time. Just me and the
woods, Watching and listening. Cant really explain it any better
than that. It is just a feeling that ill enjoy for a couple of
more years. Could only imagine all the life in your backyard,
Mickey. Your truly blessed. I may only bow-hunt deer, but i
sport a shotgun and run the dogs for rabbit and fowl. A moose
you say eh? That has to be around 900lbs of meat and up. To much
for my old ass to drag out of the wood. LOL.

Another blessed hunter good luck to you as well Alleycat. Never
ate bear or moose. Not even real sure I would want to hunt
either one of them. My fascination of observing nature would get
me killed. Zero experience with these beast. Ive heard moose in
rut are fierce monsters, Meaner than bear. Hell moose is bigger
than my 4x4. Good luck again and stay safe. Happy Hunting and
eat well.

Hunters in OFF, awesome! Deer season here, for the zone I drew,
opened two weeks ago and closes this weekend. My oldest son got
his buck last Saturday and was of course stoked. I've not
killed a deer in CA since the late 90's as I tend to hold out
for the big one and I can do that since I go to Colorado for elk
every year. We are usually successful and one elk provides lots
meat, enough to fill my freezer. I think I'm like you Rock, I
go deer hunting because I enjoy it, I like spending time with my
boys, and being in the mountains is just relaxing to me. It's
not been about "the kill" for a lot of years now.
Mickey: Could not agree more and anyone who wastes meat like
that needs to be prosecuted. It makes no sense whatsoever to
ever kill a game animal just because of the size of their horns.
Alleycat, if you are successful on moose you just have to pm a
pic to me. I got to eat moose years ago and it tasted really
good, better than elk even or at least I thought it did at the
time. Someday I'll live in a state that has them and I'll stop
elk hunting and start chasing moose.
