Stated Golem posted this on the WoT site and I thought it would
be of interest here, and so no one has to check out the WoT
Forum wasteland......
This is especially relevant since we have a few of them here and
provides a different perspective for us dudes..........
Although, I would counter that most of my hate mail come from
the same segment of the population - low performing...
Female gamers have it bad: Study suggests women are targets for
'low-status, low-performing' male gamers

very good read.
funny tho , years ago I sat down with my x's son ,who at the
time was 16 and a avid gamer. he chose to do a social experiment
for school on this same topic over several different games. I
used my main account and then created another account as a
female player. played CoD , Gears of War and a little Saints
Row. the results were just flat out sad !! and an eye opener for
sure. it seems that the anonymous feel that online gaming brings
make certain ppl think they can step beyond the bounds of normal
person-to-person interactions.
just by going on some of the extreme hate mail I get from time
to time , I cant imagine how female gamers put up with this for
as long as they do. its no wonder most don't use mics half the
time.

Let's be honest -- most of the guys who treat girls (or, in our
case, women) the way they get treated in game are the same guys
who have probably only seen two real-life naked women their
entire lives. And one was their mom. And the other they had to
pay a tip.
I've heard some of the crap aimed at our female gamers when in
game chat and can't imagine what they must get via private
message.

I would have to agree with Tke? I have played many online games
with women and never treated them with any disrespect! Even if
she was better than me. Hell I would rather learn fom a women
then a man anyways!

Respect, it's all about respect, most female gamers I have known
usually do not wear headset, or do not talk, cause of "
Harassment ", l love when playing. And a few female Tankers, go
into game chat from a platoon and start shreading the guys, I
laugh my azz off, I love it, (Misstaken/Erin) , perfect
example..
It's awesome...all about respect.

Interesting article.
I usually don't get on the mic unless I am in an OFF Platoon for
this very reason.
I will have to say that you can always tell the type of person
they are based on the comments you receive.
Of course my favorite comment was "What's your Xbox doing in the
kitchen?"

Many years ago I was playing a game called City of Heroes. You
got to make your own superhero and run around bashing villains!
Great fun! Made up a female character just for the hell of it.
Had all kinds of players just walking up and staring at my toon.
It was down right creepy.

I think a lot of guys have read the thread on the main server
because last night I was getting inundated with FR and Party
invites. It actually was more distracting than anything. At one
point I swear I had a stalker! :watching:

This is why I run off line and turn off notifications when not
in a OFF platoon.
