Headsets and keyboard

I have the Xbox headset currently. While it's an 'ok' headset
for $20, I'm looking for something a bit more...better?
Just wondering what everyone uses, and what the pros/cons are
for each model. Looking to spend $30-50, or even up to $60 if
they are that good.
One thing that I like, but am finding is uncommon among gaming
headsets, is the single ear configuration of the Xbox headset -
I like to be able to hear what's going on outside the game.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Also, I heard someone mention that you can attach a PC keyboard
to the xbox vis USB cable for sending messages...is this true?
If so, where is the USB port, and is there any configuring
needed to do this?
Here's some info from an older thread on the subject: Wireless
mostly.
I use the Turtle Beach Ear Force X12 wired set. Reasonably
priced at $40 from Amazon.
this is what I use and they are flat out amazing !! a little
pricey but Astro has a customer for life now !
I used to own a great set from the Razer online store , they
mostley make PC stuff but do have several high end Xbox Sets
too.
Turtle Beach in my opinion is ok , but I and many of my friends
have had a lot of issues with the, , and NONE of them ever last
very long.
I don't think they sell too many "one ear" quality headsets. I
had the same issue as you... I tried a regular head set, but
couldn't hear if the smoke alarm was going off or my own voice.
You want to look for a head set with something called "talk
back?".
USB keyboard: I just found one lying around the house...
plugged it into one of the USB ports on the back of the xbox
(i'm guessing the front ones would work too) and it worked.
From what I read most standard USB keyboards will work fine.
You should have a USB port on the front of your Xbox -- a lil'
door at the very bottom front (or on the front right, if you lay
yours down flat) that you can push open to reveal a pair of
them.
They are made especially for Warsteiner in Russia, he listen to
I got these for Christmas. So far, I love them. Comfortable,
bluetooth, rechargeable. Best of all, wireless, so my wife
doesn't kill herself tripping on the cord and then strangling me
with said cord.
This is what I use. Out of the price range you're looking for.
Around $150ish IIRC.
It has Bluetooth and great sound. I love the fact that it has 2
batteries so when the headset dies I swap out the one being
hcarged in the tower. Takes less than 30 sec.
