I voted other. If I could vote multiple the other vote would be
damage. But there is always a difference between the tanker that
started this game and the tanker you are now. I look at my
statistics since I started playing and they say I am an average
player, I may be, but that is hard to believe when 75-80% of my
games I am in the top 3-5 of the leader board and probably less
than 2-5% of the time I am out of the top half. I had no idea
what I was doing the first 3000 battles of this game. Used no
equip, no premium, no consumables, followed the lemmings. So I
got frustrated and started studying the game and joined this
clan. It is hard to overcome 3000 games of horrid play in your
overall stats. In a little over 4000 more games I have went from
about 46% to 50% win overall and that has been really tough. If
you want to take stats into account you need to do something
like look at your last 3 months of play. In that case I am
hovering at Blue to light green in the metrics. Not yellow or
orange. When the reds play me, they go against the tanker I am
now not the one the first 3000 battles. When you compare
yourself to unicum players that is unfair to yourself. Many of
these guys are awesome tankers. But after you look, many had
1000's of battles in Beta and platoon together with other
unicums who have done the same thing, so most of all do not be
too tough on yourself and keep improving your game by reviewing
internally your play after every battle, and even if you did
well think of how you could do better.

You forgot:
Smelling your old dog's farts.
Fantasizing about the dancing girl at the bus-stop.
Bemoaning the Jaguars latest loss.
[/quote]
What? the Jags lost AGAIN?? And they didn't even have a game...
Dang.
Speaking of Jags, after that crap call on the Cowboys last week
to make up for previous weeks debacle against Detroit the next
time I watch an NFL game will be when the Jags play in one. And
I LoL when Jerry loses because I just don't care for him, but
that was garbage (I must admit though, I was a Cowboys fan since
Danny White was QB... just can't stand Jerry, even after the
Super Bowl wins)

As for how I rate myself I feel I've done well if I'm in the top
5 at end of a match. Since the teams idiot factor can very so
widely and since I might sometimes have 3k plus spotting damage
games with little damage caused myself I personally use match
ranking and positive Silver for the match to grade myself.

Yes we do. I still remember our first battle and it was my first
game with an OFF member. You and I wrecked Death Valley on
Lakeville with my T20 and your AT7 if I remember correctly. I
still have that T20 too! We might just need a sequel. I learned
a lot that game and it changed my outlook.

I too walk the path of damage, and while it's important and one
the best things to gain XP, it doesn't necessarily equate having
high damage to being a good tanker. I'm a bit of a math geek and
love stats, so I do evaluate my play based on some of the stats
and rating systems out there, but as fun as they are, they don't
tell the whole story.
No stat I've ever seen is able to measure how good you are at
being a team player. I can't count how many time's I've been the
lone tank heading left while the lemming train ran right. Always
I die trying to hold the flank, hopefully long enough so the
team can win.
But at the end of the day, it really comes down to having fun,
this is a game and not a job. If drunk tanking while having fun
with friends floats your boat, good on you! If being obsessed
with stats and striving to be super unicum is your thing, that's
fine too.

yup, well said.
although recently I have started to "not go" opposite the
lemming train to the point where I am on an island and instead
try to position myself in a better base defensive position
especially on maps such as Abby where there are those long
corridors you can get stuck in, or to where I can still see/fire
on the base from the back of the lemming train so that I can
stay alive longer and thus be of more assistance
