How do you determine your tanking ability?

I hear a lot of people in and out of OFF talking about stats
which has prompted me to start looking at my stats and doing a
lot of thinking about what makes me feel successful.
Please take a moment to answer this simple poll honestly, for no
other reason than it might make us play better together if we
understand what drives people to achieve their personal success
as well as stimulate productive conversation.
Leave a comment if you would like to let people know how you
voted, but please keep this thread on track.

For me its def about having fun as for the other it is all about
how we play as a platoon.

I only voted for three, but the more I think about it I think
all of the answers apply to what I want the WoT experience to be
for me, just in different amounts. And I would include "the
clan" and competition as other factors as well.

Let me be totally serious here.....(i know right)....
Every single stat available to us means many things , and can be
easily manipulated .
Win% ...that can easily be tweeked by running with high calibur
platoon mates or "seal clubbing" with a OP tank.
Damage....well that can be raised simply by running tier 10 TDs
over and over again.. or Heavies.
Survival....well i think we all know how that can be
raised...Camping or...running a lot of TDS or arty wherer hiding
an entire match is totally within the tanks game plan.
And how many Tier 10s you own ??? i dont know about that
one.....i think we have all been witness to countless tier 10s
that are totally clueless as to how to play ! And lets be
honest... you CAN buy your way to tier 10 with real money
without ever playing a match above tier 5. (purchase t-14 or
Church. 3 .....run 200+games , convert....repeat)
Damage alone can be a very tricky stat.....what if a person
likes to run tier 10s , but only mediums or lights that get tier
10 matchmaking ?
My opinion... you reallly need to go deeper into a persons stat
page before you make a call on if they are being successfull or
not. Do they run mostly TDs ? Do they run a lot of Lights ? Do
they run %80 germans ? Would you be more impressed if someone
puts up 2k damages in nothing but French Mediums ?
See.... there are so many factors other than just raw numbers.
You really need to look further into the stat page than just the
big standby-stats.
Personally... 1st thing i do is see what type of tank they run
and from what country. Then i go from there . And i must add....
i am VERY critical on both of those %...... %50-60 German TDS
and ive already made my judgement on that person.

I go off my K/D ratio and my DC/DR ratio.
If I'm maintaining at least a 1.25-1.50 on both, I figure I'm at
least pulling my own weight on the team.
And, just having fun means a lot, too. Being able to run in a
platoon just multiplies that factor, as well.

Wow, I find myself agreeing with War...... :hiding:
We sort of touched on this recently in a few other threads. It
really depends on tank types driven. I have found many key
stats going down over the past 6 months as I move away from a
predominantly heavy/ TD lineup to running mostly mediums with a
smattering of lights. I still think that the stat I value most
for my play style and the tanks that I run is damage ratio. If
you have a high DR, then the other things seems to fall into
line.

you know Oxi... i think you may have found a mildly telling stat
here ? I have never really payed much attention to this little
side stat but damage casued/received ratio may be a decent
measure here ? i may have to do some research tonite !! lol...
my 1st guinie pig will be Oldruggers........woot ! :pop:

not overall ratios.....ratios on each individual tank.
oh... and im sorry , but i dont really see you as having a
choice in this good buddy !

No problem...investigate away! Gonna be easy though....tanks I
like (and you probably know which ones those are), it will be
good. Tanks I hate - bad. Simple!
