How did you find O.F.F.?

Last night I got to run some tanks with robertthered
I haven't seen him on in so long it was nice to catch up with
him.
This got me to thinking about how I came to know the Old Farts &
Fogies Clan.
I started playing back in March and had been running solo.
Rarely had my mic on as I would get comments from "WOW a Chic in
a tank, That's HOT!" to "Aren't you supposed to be in the
Kitchen" Needless to say I was getting tired of the little kids
and Adolescent Adults.
I went onto the main WoT Forum and found a posting "looking for
mature players to platoon with? reply with-in". I began skimming
through the post and decided to reply. I showed it to my husband
and said I felt like I was answering a Personal Ad, which he
just laughed and agreed but I made a couple of friends and one
was SgtEhrenfried.
I notice that Sgt had posted on a thread called WoT Old Farts &
Fogies Official Clan Page. I read through and although I was not
yet 40, I sent them a request to join or if I was not able to
join could I platoon up with them.
The one to respond to me was Robert. He platooned up with me for
a few games and told me that I would be welcomed into the clan.
SO in June I was OFFicially in OFF.
We've had some growing pains but everyone has treated everyone
like family and that is what I have come to love about this
clan. I will have to say that If I weren't in OFF I wouldn't be
in a clan! :peace:
So, I've said all that to say this......
How did you find your way into the Old Folks Home? :old:

I started playing in April, lone wolfing the whole time. My
brother-n-law and wife had been playing so then I started
playing. I knew I wasn't doing to bad, but was not very good at
all. People were always yelling and cussing at me to "learn my
role", "watch the training videos", "move up loser" blah blah
blah. One day while at work I logged onto the World of Tanks
Xbox 360 edition website looking for tutorials because according
to everyone else, I SUCKED!!! I clicked on the forums tab, the
English Speaking Community, and in the Team Play area I saw
"Looking for a clan" and I thought, maybe this is what I need,
people to help me learn this game better, faster, now. So I
started looking at the different ads for clans looking for
members and was immediately turned off to the whole thing, they
were saying you have to have at least a 50% k/d ratio...nope,
not me, Only play heavies...that's dumb, this that and the
other. I was going to give up and saw one last ad that I wanted
to look at, it said "WoT Old Farts & Fogies" and at first I
thought there was no way I was going to fit in here, I'm not old
enough.... The first thing I see is the "We are a group of
mature (mostly 40+) players who like to platoon and socialize
with like-minded people." and knew, this is the group I want to
run with. I submitted my registration request and left the
following message "Just sent registration request. Looking
forward to playing with people of the like mind...no loud
obnoxious kids talking trash the whole time....ahhh to kill in
peace is divine" I think I even hounded Robert and Acid to let
me in or reject me, one of the two and here we are 4 months
later and I feel like I've been here for years. The first people
I platooned with was Jarhead and Shard and in those few games I
started getting the information that I needed and slowly but
surely I could see my games improve. In those four months I've
seen people come and go, friendships made and lines drawn, bonds
formed and even seen some that left return to the fold. There
were times that I thought I would leave and do my own thing
because of "the dark time", but I stuck it out like so many
others did, I sided for the group and let the shit do what shit
does, flow right on out of here. There have been feeling that
got hurt and though it all this group remains a rock, a
foundation of good play, great laughs, and solid character. This
is what a gaming community should be and I'm very glad and
honored to be a part of the O.F.F.

There was a dirty, grimy, much-handled OF&F business card on the
wall of the Herpes/STD clinic...
...or, I wanted to learn about clan battles and went to the WoT
clan area. Read through all of the various clan info and once I
read OFF's info I was hooked. Just wished I knew about OFF at
500 battles instead of 4000

Pretty much the same story here, except I found them at around
3000 battles.

My journey begins shortly after launch of the live game even
though I just recently joined.
Early on in my game play I received a PM on xbl from someone
looking for people to join a WoT clan. That turned out to be
[Alliance Network]. Well I met a handful of people there that I
started platooning with and a few of us were older gamers that
really didn't care for playing with teens & kids and as [A.N.]
was obviously going no where we discussed that we should maybe
start a clan of older gamers. Fast forward a few months and I
happened to see a tweet by @WOTOFF360 in a WoTX thread and made
a mental note to check it out after looking at several of the
OFF tweets. Fast forward just a bit further & after being
accepted to ST & seeing a lot of OFFer's I started pursuing
membership and was lucky enough to end up in an ST battle with
bluebanditjim who after a short conversation mentioned OFF. Well
as a matter of fact..... and here I am.
oh, and [Alliance Network] is also how I ended up favoring the
American tank line as I was placed on the American tank team.
I've evened out fairly well since then except for Arty which I
got all the way to the M12 (and since sold due to lack of use)
but barely touched the other lines. Only Arty owned now is M7
Priest because I really liked that one. :arty:
