silverfern rally 2014

My second passion in life is rallying .
for past 15 yrs i have given my time free, to a local driver
vince bristow as service crew for his rally and rallycross
,competing in classic and modern cars. events such WRC GB sweden
Japan and british historic championship and 4 times in new
zealand 3x ferns and 1 targa .
The silverfern is over 1000km across 8 days on the best rallying
roads in the world ,
attrition and problems are many for these mainly mk1/ 2 escorts
RS1800s .previous events have not allowed us to have a clear
run. 2010 i managed 9 gearbox changes in the eight days 8 on our
car 1 for another car ( why not i was getting dam quick 9 mins
wheels to wheels)unfortunatly this year i could not go due to
illness waffling now .!!!
with 100km and 1 day to go we have a 10 min lead over the field
This could be his first major win on international win .fingers
crossed anything can happen in rallying
live timings video ect on silverfern rally 2014 website

Good luck to Vince!
At 9 mins for a gearbox change I'm sure you don't work at our
local garage. They can't even drink a cuppa in 9 mins.
My first car was a mk2 Escort. Black. And slightly rust
coloured. Then the wheel arches fell off and welding couldn't
save the sills. Apparently, you can't weld to rust.
Eventually scrapped it and got a 205Gti. Now, THAT was a car...
***dreams of care-free batchelor days tooling around the English
country roads in a pocket rocket...ahhhhh***

I volunteer for provincial and national rallies in Ontario and
Quebec in Canada. And for a few years was towing a team to
events. I love the sport. End of the month is the last event of
the Canadian Rally Championship, the Rally of the Tall Pines in
Bancroft Ontario. I'm running course car 00 in that one.
