go. But lest say it 12-3 in your teams favor... Capping is just
selfish . The cap should always.. and i mean ALWAYS be a last
resort to a win , its very clear in the amount of XP awarded for
a cap that compaired to the amount awarded for killing all the
enemy tanks that its set up to be just that.
       > Im sorry , and i know its not a popular opinion , BUT....
Capping is selfish ! The only people getting that bonus are the
cappers , who most of the time are miles away from where the
real fighting is going on !!
       > There IS a bonus for killing all the other tanks , its all
calculated in how much damage your team does to the other team ,
and EVERYONE gets this , not just the few in the cap circle .

to it that only YOU get that bonus.... not a very team oriented
       choice to me.

No there is not a kill them all bonus and the team damage bonus
is just XP no silver bonus. I respect your opinion and how you
wish to play your tanks and your game. My opinion is that it is
a balance. In my opinion it is just as selfish to make the rest
of the team wait around for three or four extra XP points when
they could be in the next game earning more XP and silver. But
at the end of the day both you and I just have different
opinions on how we wish to play the game neither are are wrong
since the games objectives are as stated by WG/WoT to "Capture
the base or destroy all enemy vehicles" .
I tend to side more with Chieftain WGA on this but hey that is
       just me.
Chieftain WGA, on 16 October 2013 - 04:52 AM, said:
A word from someone who's been around a while.
The object is to win. There are several reasons why it might be
advisable to cap instead of abandon it to go kill people.
Firstly, and most importantly. There is nothing in this game
more guaranteed to make you pull your hair out than watching
people throw away a victory in their bloodlust to go try to kill
the last one or two enemies, only to watch as they are killed
(or, as bad, get capped out themselves). There is usually a
reason that the last one or two are still alive. They are often
competent and in good vehicles. I have seen one sole surviving
enemy win by killing all 8 of the people trying to kill him 'for
the XP.' There is a reason that Kolobanov's Medals are awarded.
Secondly, if you want XP, bear in mind that there is a more
important factor than the XP you will get in the game. It is how
much XP you get per hour. You can win the game, and get the
large XP bonus for the win, and immediately set about in another
match where you can earn even more XP. Instead of hanging
around, hunting for a tank which probably doesn't want to be
found, and maybe even will kill you personally before it goes
down (which will result in your own XP reduction), finish it and
       start earning more XP.
Thirdly, it may be the only way you can get the XP. High tier
tanks have a better opportunity to get their XP by killing
things. Low tier tanks (or scouts) have a better opportunity to
get their XP by capturing. To each their own.
It is not necessarily always the case that capturing is the
better move. There may be tactical considerations which mean it
is unlikely that you will be able to complete the capture. But
if nothing else, at least it is going to bring the enemy to you,
instead of you trying to find the enemy on their own terms.

I just thought of it this way, the question could be, is it more
selfish to cap the base and end the match or is more selfish to
make those waiting for their tank to wait more in order to
finish the team? But as Metallica album goes kill em all, I'm a
       kill whore
Seeing as we're getting off the if there is an Arty and 10-14
people, should you kill it question and into a broader cap or no
cap sit, there are things like what Steampunk pointed that need
to be considered, time left. To me another would be also game
type. Another as warstiener pointed out was how many are left.
But not just how many, but what kind of tanks are left on both
sides are somewhat important. I've lost quite a few games with
the reds down to 2 but my team loses by cap when we have 8-10.
Why? Cause we all went to their base and then went looking for
them. Unless your team has a really fast tank that can make it
in 45 seconds, forget. Hell see how for you can go in a minute a
few games and you'll find you have no shot at getting back in
time on most maps, so think about that for just the 90 seconds
for a solo capper. I've had another lose in a 6 on 2 advantage
that I'm capping and go, hey it's 6 on 2, we know where there
at, we have em surrounded, but I was apparently the only one who
could anything to em and once I was gone, so were the other 5.
6-2, had the cap for sure. Left for the kills and ended up a
lost. When it comes to the cap or no cap question, it should be
a lose-no lose option. You may not get as much this game for the
win but it probably more then what you'll get for losing. Use
your judgement, use the capture as bait to get em out on your
team's terms, or otherwise try and get the kills before the
others on your team cap(or vice versa).

Again... i must disagree...Ive been playing this game for over 5
years and have beta tested this version and the pc version many
many years ago , this game is more about team work than any
       other game out there.
Im sorry , capping IS selfish.... doing something that only you
and whoever else is with you on the cap get a credit for is NOT
teamwork. Getting off the cap and helping kill/damage the last
remaining red IS !! There is just no two ways about this.
Keep in mind also that most of the time cappers are far away
from the real fighting also , this is again... NOT teamwork.
The only person you help by capping is yourself !!
I may also add that i have been in 2 very competitive clans on
the PC version , neither one looked very well on capping , and
if it was made a habit , you would not be running with them for
       very long.
Capping is a last resort... Killing/damage is 1st... thats why
each tank has a gun !

And that is all just your opinion. I have been playing just as
long as you and that means nothing at all because opinion is
still just opinion you have yours I have mine and other have
theirs. That is all good with me so long as people do not try to
pass off their opinions as fact.

This is an old and tired argument, of which there are no winners
       - only people convinced that they're right. Ultimately "do as
thou wilt" and let others do the same is the only answer. One
person's concept of how to play/win/have fun is not always going
to align with another's and that's fine. That's why democracies
       are better than dictatorships.

While I enjoy destroying all of the red tanks, my first priority
is to win. If that win happens to be by capping, I won't get
       mad.
If I've got the last enemy in my sights, I will go on mic and
ask (nicely) that the cappers to move out of the circle. If
       they don't, I don't get angry.

I handle it as fairly as I can. There was a time that they had
the last guy surrounded but somehow managed to glitch himself
into a walled area on himmelsdorf and could not be shot, so I
capped. They asked for more time to try and get to him, so I
jumped off til I had no choice but to cap to win.

Capping is such a touchy subject for most folks -- especially
those trying to hunt down the last few enemy reds.
IMHO, there is no set "rule" for when to cap and when not to.
Oh, sure, capping when the score is 3-2 or 12-2 probably is not
advisable, but I've had a few games lately that show how it's so
       game dependent.
Two weeks ago Warsteiner, RUGGER, myself, and a couple of others
are on Lakeville standard. I could've capped but we decided to
chase the last three tanks that were in the valley (two heavies
and a Bert) with our six tanks.
Well, they wound up destroying us and getting the win. Had I
capped when I thought about it, we could've won.
Another game: Saturday night, we're down like 10-4 or something
absurd, yet we make it to their cap with enough numbers that
they didn't make it back to reset it. Totally won a game we
       should've lost.
So, yeah -- just be smart. Know how many enemy are left, what
their condition is, and what the odds are of your team winning
via destruction vs. doing so via capping.
       :salute:

Yes the whole team benefits from damage. But they also be for
from the win bonus. Which probably out ways the damage from a
few tanks. So yes chase all reds and get as much damage as you
can, but be ready to cap if you need to. I considered losing
the win by chasing the last scrap of damage to be selfish as
       well.
