I would be 100% down with this, though I agree that real
military experience isn't as vital as game experience.
To be honest, I think we should start being more
strategic/tactical in general. I tend to run tanks I need x2s
on, or that I'm grinding, instead of thinking about the mix of
tanks we have. Think I might change that up a bit moving
forward.
SUGGESTIONS:
-- We have a "Find a Grind" event in which people can platoon up
to grind similar tier/type of tanks. This would allow those
times to be set aside for that vs. tactical platooning. Not sure
we could set up something on the companion site due to all the
different variables (tiers, types, platoon leaders, etc.) so
maybe do it more ad hoc.
-- We have a "Tactics Time" event(s) where we really focus on
how to work best together. Truth be told, some platoons work
really well together and some don't, regardless of stats, etc.
We need to find those groups that can work together and maybe
think about setting up fixed platoons that meet regularly in
prep for any clan/team battles. Yes, this could possibly maybe
lead to cliques, but we seems to be pretty good about not
letting that get to us (think our age has something to do with
that). Note that this wouldn't be all the time, either -- just a
day or two a week.
Of course, who the hell knows when clan wars will be out -- if
ever -- so this might all be moot.
ALSO: If they add training rooms soon we can work on tactics in
there, saving ourselves from having to learn with randoms.

I like the tactical mind intuition, to achieve this, much like a
Ninja, takes dedicated training. When combat is presented the
sencei is in spirit, however no longer training. The instilled
training become fluid and instinct.

I don't think it is as cut and dried as "gaming" versus "actual"
experience being the most important - I think both viewpoints
should be included in order to come up with our best tactical
gameplay.
And ditto what TKE said - we have platoons that currently run
together but it doesn't stop people from still playing with any
and all....and not everyone would enjoy a "serious" competitive
environment anyway. A night or two set aside for teamwork aint
gonna hurt us - Our clan is stronger than that.

Do you mean there is a strategy in this game other than trying
to defend both flanks simultaneously after the green lemming
train fails miserably?

LOL....not for random gameplay - that is a cat herding, cluster
foxtrot! :hitself:
But for the eventual clan battles (SOON tm) there will be. I
don't know the particulars (we have members who do - Oxi, War,
et al) but the format seems to be teams made up just for
competition.
I am going to take Warsteiner's suggestion and watch the Twitch
feed of the World Championships to learn a little more and maybe
better my gameplay - Lord knows I need it lately....

I think clan battles would be fun although I could see it being
pretty frustrating at times too coming up against doom platoons
every game might take the fun out of it. Hopefully when they do
implement there is a tier type system.
