       Understanding Spirituality

       Both religion and spirituality are types of worship. However,
       religion is corporate worship (that is, you go to the temple,
       you pay tithes or alms, you play by their rules) while
       spirituality is personal worship.  As such, spirituality is like
       the "bulmabriefs144" religion or the "John Smith/Jane Jones"
       religion.  A spirituality may have a major world religion as its
       base but have personal beliefs that go outside the lines. For
       this reason, which being part of a religion, you are viewed as a
       bad worshiper if you do not regularly attend, neither attending
       worship at a temple nor refusing to is really an issue here,
       since it is your own set of beliefs.
       Strictly speaking, spirituality is worship but not religion.
       You see, religion comes from (contrary to Merriam Webster

       />which says it comes from the roots meaning "to constrain, to
       tie
       back" :heathens: ) the word root meaning to "reconnect

       The words
       have essentially similar meanings but not connotations, as the
       other one reflects a bias of viewing religion as a means of
       control.  But the purpose of religion as a means to "reconnect"
       not only refers to reconnecting to the divine or supernatural,
       but also to the natural world and other people.  That is,
       because spirituality is about "concerning one's spirit" but not
       necessarily about "reconnecting" religion can involve
       spirituality, yet spirituality is not necessarily religion.
