The Great Rain

[center]So this is how his leadership would begin.
Mosiaceyes stepped forward as the rain fell down into the
Riverclan camp, thundering against the ground and blowing
sideways in the wind. His pelt was soaked and hung limply at his
sides in small layered curtains. Wailing sounded all around the
camp, cries of pain and sadness. At the deputy's feet lay the
curled up body of his leader, now his predecessor, Wavestar,
whose blue pelt was matted with blood made thin by the rain.
As Mosiaceyes lifted his head skyward, a ragged cloud of breath
escaped him- the temperatures that the rains brought with them
were cold, and leafbare would be upon them in less than a moon.
So these were the challenges he would face? Would he end up like
Wavestar, ravaged by the invading badgers? Bloodied in his own
clan?
Perhaps these were not the thoughts for this time.
"Riverclan..." he meowed, the sound shaking and thin over the
sound of the thunder and the rain and the wails of pain, "I am
the new leader- Mosiacstar."[/center]

[sup]The young apprentice medicine cat slipped out of the
medicine den, her silver tabby pelt instantly getting soaked. As
Vividpaw threw her head back to stare up at Mosaicstar, a sense
of certainty crept through her. I bet he'll make a great leader.
she thought, feeling strangely proud. Looking around, she
wondered where Finalshowdown was.[/sup]

[font=georgia]Minnowpaw padded out of the apprentice den, her
eyes half closed. The young apprentice was still groggy from
sleep and a bit annoyed at Mosaicstar for waking her up. The
grey tabby feline sat down by herself, her eyes widening as she
spotted the dead body of Wavestar at the tom's paws. Tearing her
gaze away from the former leader, she looked at the new one.
"Mosaicstar!" she called out, hoping that everyone else would
join in the cheering.[/font]

[center]The new leader looked down at the gathering clan,
nodding to the two young she-cats. "Thank you," he murmured, not
waiting for the rest of the clan before stepping down to hang
his head in sadness by Wavestar's body. [/center]

Horror and grief shifted in Raindkissed's eyes instantly when
Wavestar's body appeared in her view. A choked cry escaped her,
the rain pounded against her fur, making her fur sodden and
heavy. Tears slipped down her face silently, the thunder
roaring, the lightning cracking across the lands.

Mosaicstar looked up, having forgotten something. "I... I need a
deputy." his gaze cast around, looking for someone to suit the
task, for he hadn't thought about it at all. "Rainkissed is the
deputy."

[sup]Vividpaw tilted her head, surprise clear in her large green
eyes. Rainkissed was a good choice, in her opinion, but
Mosaicstar hadn't even said the correct ceremony words! Had
Mosaicstar learned nothing from Wavestar? "Congratulations,
Rainkissed!" the medicine cat apprentice piped up.[/sup]

"Great StarClan! He did use the right words! I hope StarClan
will not punish us for not doing it right! Sliverfire thought to
herself worrying. Silverfire than hang her head in sadness. She
padded up to Wavestar. "Good bye, old friend....my you hunt in
StarClan with peace and happness." She said tearful, memorys
rushed to her about Wavestar and her.

"Oh, god, Wavestar, no..."
The choked cry of the tortoiseshell and white medicine cat split
the air as Finalshowdown emerged after Vividpaw, emerald-green
eyes dark with grief. She lowered her head and stalked through
the crowds, murmuring a quick congratulations to Rainkissed
before settling herself down beside her apprentice. "I... O-oh
gosh, this c-can't be happening..." The tears were threatening
to spill down her cheeks but she held them back, lifting her
head to gaze at Mosaicstar. Did he know she loved him? Strange
enough for a medicine cat, but oh, she was messed up anyway.
"C-congratulations, Mosaicstar, Rainkissed." Finalshowdown
mewed, stutter getting in the way again as she shut her eyes and
tried to hold in the wails of agony at the loss of their beloved
Wavestar.
OOC: Has Mosaic been to the moonstone yet?

[sup]Vividpaw frowned at her mentor, understanding the older
she-cat's sadness. The apprentice hadn't known Wavestar too
well, since she was only new to her job, although Finalshowdown
must have known him all too well. The silvery tabby stroked the
medicine cat's back with her tail, murmuring words of comfort.
"It's alright. Mosaicstar will make a great leader . . ."[/sup]
