Never switching sides-- again-
By: razor Date: November 14, 2012, 12:59 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Creeping 'cross the borderline
o'er the picket fence
through the bright red doors
feeling no fear,
This is the daily what-to-do
In the life of Spence!
Pitter patter on the floor
Skippin' through the kitchen door
Had my daily scraps tonight
Now I'll have another bite!
Wouldn't mind a bowl o' cream
Tired o' drinking from the stream
Cup of milk would be great
Then I wouldn't be so late!
Food bowl; empty, Not a change
'Parently the charge ain't in their range
Water's spilled
They'll be killed!

Quietly, though quickly, a slim creamish brown colored tabby
padded to his water bowl. It was, like always, empty. He
growled, his paws moistening quickly in the puddle of water,
shook the water of his paws, and backed away. He narrowed his
blue eyes in anger, and before he knew it, he was sitting by a
very, very freshly scratched up sofa chair, smiling. Didn't his
mama used to say something? Don't cry over spilled milk? He
didn't. Spencer scratched over spilled water. Difference. Smile
fading, he bounded back to the bright red door, and out he went
through the kitty door. Spence padded over to the fence, and sat
upon his favorite bird house, that didn't use to be empty....
The soft moonlight shone down on his pelt. His blue collar, with
the word SPENCER sewed on in yellow thread,
was neatly placed on his neck.
Ooc-
Please try to be semi-literate!

"Night owl too, then, are
you sir?"
The white kittypet leaped up onto the fence then down into
Spencer's garden, her blue eyes friendly and warm. She was deaf
in one ear ~ lucky, considering both her parents had been deaf ~
and she had very poor hearing in the other. But it didn't stop
her from getting around, and as long as she continued to read
lips as well as she could, straining to hear as much as
possible, she would make her way through life just fine. Unless
a dog got her, or an eagle. The stupid birds had been circling
her house lately, which was partly why she had slunk away,
trying to find another garden to relax in for a while until the
massive eagles left. After all, they had got Drey ~ the poor
grey tomcat had just been plucked from the ground and carried
away, and he had never been seen since. The kittypets who knew
him eventually had to come to the acceptance that he was
probably never coming back, that he was dead.
Angel shifted from paw to paw and considered jumping up onto the
bird house beside Spencer, then thought about asking him first.
So, with a purr, she mewed, [b]"So, sir, mind if I jump up
beside you? The grass is quite cold, you know."[/b[

Spencer turned his head toward the
direction of the meow. He locked gazes with the she-cat for a
moment. The tomcat flinched at the word 'owl'. Shoving the
thought away, Spence greeted the cat. "Why, hello.
Yes, I am a Night... Bird." He said softly, not knowing the
she-cat was deaf. The slim tabby shifted to the side, making
room for the cat. "Of course, m'dear." The young tabby meowed
kindly. Spencer had moved to this neighborhood just about two
weeks ago. He was eager to meet cats like him, though there were
not many. "I'm Flic-" The tom stopped, cut himself off. "They
call me Spencer." Spencer shifted awkwardly on the fence. He was
now not making any eye contact with the white she-cat.

Angel managed to capture
the gist of his speech and nodded kindly. "Thanks," She purred,
hopping up beside him. Spencer, huh? "I'm Angel," The white
she-cat murmured. "And, um, when you speak, could you please
look at me? I'm sort of this close-" She lifted her front paws
and held them about a centimetre away from each other- "to being
deaf. It's sort of hard for me to read your lips when I can't
see them." Angel purred.

Spencer chuckled at her last few
words. "My apoligies, Angel. I had no way to know."
The tom did not look at her, he just said it quite loud. Very
loud, loud enough for her to hear without lip-reading. Spence
shifted his paws on the fence again. He stared into the forest,
moonlight sparkling the drops of water on the limbs from the
recent downpour. The soft fur around his paws were moist from
the, not morning, but night dew on the grass. The urge to shake
them of was growing, but he would of most likely fell of, and
embarrassed himself in front of a cat he just met. Spencer,
again, awkwardly shifted his paws about the
fence.

"You were not supposed to
know, it's ok." Angel mewed back, noticing how he seemed
uncomfortable. "You ok? You look a little nervous,
uncomfortable." She gave him a reassuring smile, not wanting to
make him feel even more awkward. She too was a little uncomfy,
but for different reasons; now he knew she was nearly deaf, he
just had to give her a gentle lush and she'd topple over.
Without properly functioning ears, she had barely any balance.
"If you need to do anything, don't worry, just go do it." Angel
purred, speaking about the dew on his paws. And while they were
on that subject... The white she-cat lifted a paw, shook it,
licked the rest of the dew off, put it back down, lifted the
other one and repeated the action.

"I'm.... I'm fine." The
tom meowed softly. Then he remembered. "No, I'm alright." He
meowed loudly, though not turning toward the she-cat. Spencer's
light amber eyes were locked onto the forest and its trees. "How
long have you been a kitt- a house cat?" He asked, swallowing
nervously.

Angel nodded and turned so she could also
gaze at the forest. "Forever," She whispered.
"Ever since I was born. If be terrible anywhere else ~ deaf,
almost." The white she-cat lowered her swirling blue eyes and
sighed softly, shuffling her paws.

Spencer nodded. Next, he did
something odd. He dug his sharp claws into the top of the picket
fance board his left forepaw was on. The white colored wood
splintered and cracked. The next thing he knew, the triangular
top of the board lay on the ground, splinters sticking out in
every other way. Spence stared down at the rugged piece of wood.
He had ripped it right off, fueled by anger. He had done a
vicious deed in front of a cat he had just met. Fabulous. Just,
fabulous.

Angel tensed, eyes wide with fear. She
sprung to the ground and backed away, crouching nervously, every
muscle rigid. "Um... Um..." She stammered. What
had happened with him? Why had he done that? He seemed more like
a wild, untamed beast than a house cat at that moment, and it
was scaring the docile kittypet. "A-are you ok?" Angel mewed
hoarsely, shaking with fear.
