Whitepaw raced out of the apprentice den, her green eyes bright.
The bouncy she-cat was in the mood to play a game and she had a
great idea. "Let's have a race!" she yowled. "First cat to catch
three rabbits wins!" This would be fun! And she'd be able to
make apprentice and warrior friends.

Sailpaw looked up from grooming her silvery fur when she heard
Whitepaw's call. That sounds like fun! the apprentice thought,
excitement bubbling up inside of her. The she-cat got up and
trotted over, smiling. "Good idea! I'll play!" she mewed
happily.

Runningbear, a long-furred ginger she-cat, stepped out of the
warrior's den at the sound of a challenge. But somehow, racing
against two little-trained apprentices didn't seem fair to her.
"I'll be referee," she murmured.

Whitepaw bounded over to Runningbear, her eyes shining.
"Alright!" she squeaked, running in circles around the warrior.
"I'm so excited!!" The little white feline was a bit
hyperactive, sort of ADHD infected.

paw giving him only slight discomfort. "I'll play; my leg'll
give me a disadvantage, but I'll have a go." Mantlepiece smiled
at the apprentices, hoping they wouldn't judge him because he
was an ex-rogue. It was stressing him out, but the black Maine
Coon was determined to prove his worth.

Only then did Whitepaw realize the deputy was watching her.
Skidding to a halt, the young she-cat stared up at him with
bright eyes. "Great, Mantlepiece!" she mewed excitedly. So what
if he was an ex-rogue? He's the WindClan deputy now! And he was
going to race with her!!

Whitepaw thought for a moment. "We can start now, and anyone
else can join in the middle." she decided, staring up at the
deputy. Her eyes were wide and shining with excitement, and in
her mind she was saying, Oh my StarClan I'm talking to the
WindClan deputy and he's gonna play with me and oh em
gee!!!!!!!!!
