Damon gave a smirk as he moved into the arena, rolling his
shoulders to loosen up. After all, if Rayner accepted his
challenge, he was in for a hard slog. He'd beaten the knight
once, but that was no reason at all to be cocky. That was where
Brandt had fallen short in their spar all those years ago. Of
course Damon and Rayner had been at odds then, but now Damon
offered the challenge to a friend; he hoped for some
       good-natured fun.
"What do you say Rayner? You up for the challenge or did our
last spar unnerve you? Come on, there's no ladies to impress
now. Just you and me in the arena."
Damon got ready, removing his shirt and wrapping his fists in
bandages as he awaited a reply to the challenge. The smith's
choice of weapons today would be his throwing knife and saxe
knife. A combination Damon was sure Rayner would recognise.
Damon was ready, Magis simmering below the surface and a cheeky
       grin plastered across his face.

Rayner rolled his shoulders, eyes trained with a cocky smolder
in Damon’s direction. It seemed the little mall town smith
wanted some friendly competition. Well, Rayner was more than
happy to oblige. It had been a good few years since the last
time they fought and at that time tensions were higher. After
all, Rayner had something to prove in that fight and didn’t
quite like Damon. Funny how now he felt more eager to kick his
*ss now that they were friends rather than strangers. Strange
how that planned out for them.
“Still have a big mouth Roux? Alright. I’ll take your challenge.
You may have won last time, but I’m not going easy on you this
time.” He said with a snicker, brandishing his halberd with a
flourish of a spin, ice collecting along the handle in a display
       of ease with the element.

"Ahh! Come one, come all. Come one, come all!" Indigo spoke to
herself, pumping herself up. She stepped outside onto the
balcony overlooking the arena. Signs were ready for criers
within the arena to pass on the message of Indigo, but she
tended to have a loud voice as is.. regarldess, she stepped
forward with a gleeful smile on her face. She enjoyed the duels
that stained the arena. Blood, or no blood. It was sure to
       always be an interesting challenge.
She raised both of her palms in the air as the crowd began to
exuberantly cheer! With that, she spoke..
"Come one, come all! To the Keth-Zrasharin Arena! We welcome all
of you to enjoy this spectacular set of matches we have this
evening!" As she gleefully shouted, listing off which combatants
were facing the other, she finally came to Rayner Brandt and
Damon Roux. The two haven't been quite set onto their sides of
the arena just yet.. regardless, she continued her schpeel.
Once the two were set on their opposite ends with sturdy,
metallic doors allowing them to scope out the arena (which was
mostly flat, with debris here and there with sand), she finally
       announced each name..
"Sir Rayner Brandt of the Truce Legion!" She announced, leaning
her hand to his sign of the arena, before she named Roux's named
       as the crowd cheered.
"Sir Damon Roux, loyal advocate for Gabrielle Brighteye!" She
announced, leaning her hand to his sign of the arena as the
       crowd cheered.
With that, the cage doors opened, and the match begun...

       Damon Roux
Damon grinned at the male's snarky retort and chuckled, this was
going to be fun for sure. Who knew where they both stood in
skill now; Damon was sure the humiliation of Rayner's last
defeat would have spurred him to train harder.
"Ease huh? Well I see you've actually been using your magis. Not
like last time where I cornered you into it."
However, Damon had been training too and was- at least he hoped
-a tad better than the scrappy lad who had to grapple in the
       dirt.
Damon moved more into the centre of the arena, holding his
blades at the ready. His magis was already in action, heating
his blades to a point where they glowed. A new metal alloy he'd
been working on, strong enough not to bend under this level of
heat when in a duel but he still hadn't faced a real opponent.
       Only his apprentices.
They circled for a while before Damon decided he should finally
lead the attack. With a quick step he moved to make a swipe at
Rayner's halberd, a tactic aimed more toward disarming the
knight then injuring. After all, he didn't want this spot of fun
       to end too quickly.

At the announcement, Rayner entered and gave a wink to Indigo
that was meant to be kiss-ass charming. He knew it probably
wouldn’t land, but it was worth a shot to have a judge blushing
in his favor. Of course, Damon pointed out the Magis use and
that earned him a shrug from Rayner, ignoring the ice particles
that flecked off with the action. “I fought a guy that made me
realize it isn’t all that different that swinging a blade. It’s
how you use it and it’s got some skill to it, Roux. Now are you
still lighting your shirts on fire?” He teased though clearly in
       good fun.
As Damon circled, Rayner looked for an opening on the guy.
Rayner worked better at distance, but training with Gastelle had
taught him a bit on close quarter combat and less reliance on
his axe. Hence why when Damon went in with a strike, Rayner was
ready to deflect. The b*stard was quick and swiped out at Rayner
with that thicker blade. The metal of the blade met to metal of
the pole arm, hissing when it contacted with the ice. Because
Damon put weight behind the attack, it drove Rayner’s stance
down a bit, but the halberd stayed firmly in his grasp due to
the ice helping along. Ice that was quickly starting to melt
from the metal heating from the heat radiating from his blade.
With a grunt of effort, Rayner hefted the pole upwards and
struck out at Damon with a knee to the gut to get him to back
off. If he dodged, Rayner took his own step back and followed it
with swing downward in a sweeping arc across the shoulder.

       Damon Roux
Damon gave a grunt as the male's hard knee drove into his
stomach, disrupting his breathing pattern and causing his magis
to flare a little. Asena had show him the basics of breathing
techniques to control his power but he'd been left on his own
from there- so to say they were shaky at best was accurate.
However, the male only had a moment to suck in breath before
shifting back a hair to bring himself to his most effective
       block.
With the two blades arranged in an 'x' (the throwing knife
supported by the saxe knife) he was able to catch the halbard
with a grunt and deflect down past him. With the momentum that
Rayner had generated in his down strike, which Damon effectively
nudged aside, sent the axe head to the dirt. Using a foot, Damon
kept the blade planted there before using his left elbow to
drive up into Rayner's jaw; this was the most effective attack
at this point because his hands still thrummed with the impact
on his blades from Rayner's offensive.
Once more, Damon danced back to withdraw for a moment and gather
his wits again and shake his hands back to feeling.
"I'm only setting shirts alight when the theatrics are needed
and ladies need to see my wares" he chuckled, making fun of
Rayner by imitating his wink to the judge. He didn't lower his
guard however and kept himself in a ready stance, magis tingling
       through his veins.

Rayner AAE Damon take the knee to the gut and knew it would only
stun him briefly. He was less expectant of Damon catching that
downward swing since it was quite the show of some stranger
against a heavy weapon. It drew a look of interest to Rayner
since it seemed the young man he met in that lumber town wasn’t
just bulky for show but also had some real strength behind it.
It was impressive to see and showed Rayner that he had
underestimated Damon going into this fight. Thankfully, Rayner
had his jaw clenched in effort behind the swing, else his jaw
would have been dislocated when Damon drove his elbow into it.
It hurt like a b*tch and caused stars to briefly explode in his
vision. The larger man staggered back from the hit, putting a
hand to his jaw with a grunt of annoyance. That was going to
bruise in the morning. The comment of using his shirt burning as
a parlor trick for the ladies made a laugh bubble out of Rayner.
“I bet. I always heard you can get a lot out of a lady if you
can make her laugh.” He said with a joking tone, antagonistic
like a brother would be to a sibling. “I will admit you bulked
up Roux. That was a good hit.” He hefted the axe head out of the
dirt, getting his balance back in the pole arm before jabbing
outward at Damon with the spear tip. The hooked end of the blade
followed shortly, going for his weapons in turn that were there
for a chance of disarming him.

       Damon Roux
Damon noticed with a small hum of satisfaction that his hit had
found home and watched a moment as Rayner stumbled a little from
it. The comment about his figure being comedic made him chuckle.
"Laugh huh?" he panted "Who's laughing now?"
Damon stepped forward to let fly yet another attack but Rayner
had stolen the initiative and struck out first. With a last
ditch effort to not accidentally run into the spear-point, he
twisted aside unaware that the hook was coming right back at
him. A curse left his lips as the hook gouged across the back of
his hand and cause Damon to drop the smaller of the knives. With
a now more determined attitude, Damon crouched, sweeping his
foot at Rayner's legs. This would achieve either one or both
outcomes; kick his throwing blade away so Rayner could not use
it either and to try and trip the man. Of course, Damon wasn't
sure how successful this attack would be as he had used it
before with Rayner. So to follow it up, he shifted closer where
the halberd wouldn't be as effective and brought the heavy hilt
of his knife toward the male's wrist, hoping to strike his more
dominant hand and perhaps disarm him.

Damon’s taunt after the hit made Rayner grin at the cocky man,
especially when he saw the small blade spiral out of his hand
and clatter to the earth floor. Good, one blade down one more to
go. Maybe he could use that blade for some better up and close
combat in case he was disarmed. “You’re cracking me up. Is that
all you got Damon?” He taunted but paused when Damon dropped.
Gastelle and Damon had used this move enough on him that he now
had a bit of better footwork. He staggered back in time, but
lost opportunity at the smaller blade and had to shift the
balance of his blade back to the dominant hand to avoid dropping
it. However, Damon got him with a solid hit to the wrist that
made his hand reflexively open and jerk back closer to him. The
heavy knife left a lasting radiating pain in the joint and he
knew it would hurt to use it. Because Damon was still in his
space and armed. He had to get him to let go of the blade and
that meant engaging and countering. He stomped hard on Damon’s
foot to distract as he move in going for the arm with the blade
still held. He caught the arm and twisted only releasing so that
he could bring an elbow down at the joint. It was a long shot
since he was sure Damon had a good grip and he expected to take
a kick, a punch, or even a cut for being so close.
