Archived--Asena Valda's Candidate Meeting [Y1057]
By: Kimcora Date: October 17, 2020, 7:59 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Capital City of Marieve
District of Pieta
The Black Trout Inn
Accompanied: Alone
Equipment: Longsword
The cascade of rushing water was soothing, a distant sound Asena
focused on through the noise of the market sitting below the inn
she's staying at. Gaze fixed out a window on the waterway that
stretched through the heart of the city, she had resisted the
urge to spend her day next to it. She had always found it
peaceful, water. A necessary counter to the fire within her, so
it truly wasn't any wonder she felt drawn to it.
The sound would have to be enough for now as she waited for
those she summoned. Staking a claim on a worn table in the
corner of the main hall, Asena has been occupying the space for
more than half a day. She smiled at those who caught her eye,
engaged in light-hearted conversation with others who recognized
her, watched citizens mill about in the market below and
wondered how she was going to go about this whole thing.
Running for office to be part of the Triangular Truce, to lead
Alessandria after a mysterious disappearance. Those who knew her
would ask if she's hit her head. In truth, she's had moments
when she questioned her own sanity and yet, she sent off her
summons anyway.
The men she asked to meet her possessed talents and connections
that would best support her cause, but the deciding factor to
contact these men in particular was her stone-solid trust in
them. Trust was such a difficult thing to place and yet, by luck
or by Fate, she had met these men she could do so with.
Perhaps the gods had something in store.
Catching a sweetly wrinkled grinning face out of the corner of
her eye, Asena offers a warm smile to the owner, or rather the
owner's wife, as the short, rounded woman brings out the fish
she had ordered.
"Hope you're hungry. This bugger was a pudgy thing," the older
woman chuckles as she slides the steaming plate onto the table.
Uncrossing her legs and straightening up in her chair, Asena
softly shakes her head as she sets her mug of herbal tea down.
"Not me, but the cat," she answers, her smile dimpling at the
look on the woman's face.
"The…cat, m'lady?" The woman asks as if she heard her right.
"Aye." With a gentle confirmation, she grabbed up the plate and
bent to the side, the auburn tendrils of her hair brushing the
floor as she lifts the tablecloth to reveal the orange and black
cat snuggled against the boot of her right foot. Asena, with her
Magis, always generated a warmer body temperature than those
around her and once the stray cat had discovered that, Asena had
a companion for the last few hours.
Clicking her tongue, the cat's head snaps up and blinks at her
with large green eyes, only to unfurl itself and issue a
crackling, almost desperate meow at the smell of cooked fish.
Chuckling, Asena sets the plate on the floor but she didn't have
a chance to move her hand away before the cat snatched up the
food that was nearly its own size and leaping to the windowsill,
it scampered across the road and disappeared down an alley. She
watched it go, offering a silent prayer that it would find a
home.
"I appreciate you," she told the woman as she handed the plate
back, getting only confused, rapid blinking in response before
the woman took the plate and dipped her head.
"M'lady. Is there anything else?"
"No, but if you don't mind checking back once my friends have
arrived? They'll have had a long travel."
The woman nodded in acknowledge, the look of shock still a ghost
on her face as she departs back toward the kitchen. Asena casted
her gaze out the window once more, her right hand coming up to
gently knead the muscles in her left arm. It had been aching all
day and the tea didn't seem to help.
She thinks the worst of it, though, was the waiting.
If anything ever did her in, it would be the waiting.

"How? HOW could she beat me?!" Melrose scowled stepping back and
forth in the prime of his youth. Toes and heels stomping against
the ground amidst the worn shack of a house his parents used to
own. The night was quiet after his long battle with who he was
to now serve as a result of his own incompetence.
He raised his bloodied hand and gritted his teeth. Rage had
lavished him a new blush at the thought he had been previously
spared. In a rush he had brung his arm down and decompressed his
chest with the largest of sighs. His hand met his forehead, and
his eyes trailed down to the mask beneath him; thrown vigorously
aside and cracked.
Asena Valda was her name. She had beaten Melrose to a pulp
amidst chaos that followed from his Malevolent form.
"A dweller. Beaten by a humana." Yet a certain heat that
radiated from the long lass proved too powerful for Melrose.
"Aye... perhaps she be the cleansing light Uleplexian's whisper
of."
Y500
"...and indeed she is." Melrose finished his daydreaming of his
previous encounters. Idly curling his hair as he sat in the back
of his lavishly mediocre carriage on wheels.
Amongst the years of his youth had Melrose failed to dawn a mask
that would serve as a libido effect in keeping him from losing
control. Albeit he had been working much harder to control his
Malevolent form; being beaten by who he now advises served him
right. Even Melrose could admit he was put in his place.
Through the busy streets of Pieta did he vetting the wandering
handsome lads who passed him by. Through his hazy recalling
interjected an adrupt stop, nudging his body forward. A minute
later, his chauffer gently opened the door to his carriage and
stepped to the side.
"We've arrived, sir." Said his driver. An older gentleman
obviously out to impress. Melrose thought it cute, but he
preferred his prey with less wrinkles and more muscularity.
He smirked behind his mask as he exited. "You frighten me with
your spontanuity, sir." Melrose teased. "My darling mask nearly
met the seat in front of me."
The older man blushed, stuttering. "Sir, I deeply apologi-"
"Do not worry yourself, sir." Melrose interjected. He held his
hand out and the male responded likewise. "Keep it all, sir.
You've yourself an upcoming vacation."
The older man nodded, before bowing as Melrose walked inside
said inn with his arms behind his back and his sleeves
gracefully following him. He spotted an older woman with a plate
returning downstairs.. "Goodness, where art thou Romeo?" He
mocked through thought.
"Welcome, sir!" The elderly woman politely welcomed. Melrose
bowed his head.
"Thank you, madame. My presen-"
"She's upstairs, fourth on the left." The elderly woman winked,
interjecting.
Melrose cleared his throat. Nodding in thanks, he continued to
the direction he was.

Elisscac didn’t have night in his life but fight after fight.
After being kicked out of the orphanage at age 16. He didn’t
know much about his past let alone his history , but that did
bother him to much, his main focus was survival and moving
forward . He was know for his hand to hand combat and if you
gave him food he would accept any request .
He wondered from town to town living off brawls and the few
requests he would get here and there but it was always the same
someone saw the way he fought and asked him to kill someone they
didn’t like , he didn’t care he was feed and that what he cared
about .
After a while he became accustomed to this life and felt he
couldn’t trust anyone until him meet a dweller named Melrose who
told him what he was and how to use the dweller magis inside him
. The longer he was around him the more that made sense and why
he was the way he was , the magus training was hard but the
combat testing was brutal , until one day he disappeared.
Y500
He made his way into town . He was heading to met someone that
Melrose request him to a bodyguard for this was the first time
he asked to protect someone instead of killing . The only reason
he even agreed was cause Melrose himself was there so it a
matter of loyalty that he answered the summon , but he felt that
even if Melrose trust this Asena he had to see for him hat he
could trust this woman.
He finally making it to the agreed meeting place he entering the
building
“ I’m here to”
An old woman interrupted him “ Up and forth to the left .” Her
face baring the look of unpleasantness
“ what no shirt , no service “ he replied tauntingly as he
continues on his way ignoring what the woman said back

Location: Black Trout Inn
Company: No one
Carrying: A large book; filled with notes and odd bits of paper,
secured closed with a leather buckle. A set of discrete blades
and a small satchel.

Farren dismounted his horse silently, leading the sturdy grey
mare to the stables of the inn. As he moved past the windows,
his eyes drifted about glancing at the goings on from outside.
It seemed to be a popular inn; there was no lack of company
within its walls and he could hear the thrum of activity from
outside. With deft and practised hands, he unsaddles his horse
and gives her a good brush down before giving her water and
oats, all the while his eyes still took in his surroundings.
There was a small wooden shed structure behind the main inn and
Farren's brow creased when he heard the faint muffling of speech
and the chime of laughter. The door opened a slim amount and
Farren bent over, making to look as if he were tending to his
horses shoes, all the while his eyes observed a man peeking out.
He looked from left to right before deciding that it was safe to
leave, young woman- shirts askew- in tow. Farren's eyebrow
raised and he felt something like a smile touch his face. No-
Not a smile of amusement or happiness that is often seen, but a
cold and cunning smile of a wolf who has spotted a sheep
diverged from it's flock. That woman seemed to young to be his
wife; a possible affair?
Information, he thought to himself, information is really one of
the most powerful weapons.
Horse now cared for, he pushed back the cowl of his cloak to
enter the tavern. Farren wasn't build like a warrior, but had a
different kind of muscle and grit and physical tonement. He was
tall, but his figure was of one who ate with scruple and his
muscular build was of one who didn't shy away from doing their
own labour. He was no meathead, but no spoiled lordling either.
His disinterested blue eyes scanned the room for the company he
was here to meet. He was to assist in the support of a candidate
for the Triangular Truce. It wasn't his usual scene, but the
opportunity for intrigue and access to even more information was
irresistible to him and his candidate seemed to honest and good
natured to hold herself. Maybe that could prove useful to
himself. A small woman moved over to him with the bustle of
someone busy.
"Ye here for the meeting? Upstairs, fourth room to the left."
So this was the innkeeper's wife.
"Meryl! Where is the corkscrew?!" called the similarly short man
he had seen earlier; So this was the unfaithful innkeep. That
would be handy to know.
"Where ye left it last time!"
Farren didn't dwell longer than he had to and moved up the
stairs, quietly entering the room. He gave a small bow at the
waist to his candidate.
"Good day Madam. I am Farren Waymaker, glad to finally meet your
acquaintance."
He gave her a charming smile, his eyes sparking with excitement
and anticipation. Was the excitement one of malice and mischief
or goodwill? We'll leave that alone, shall we?

Melrose was the first to step into the room. It's been some time
since last Asena has seen him and from what she could decipher
from his outside appearance, there had been very little change
in him. He looked well, at least at first glance. It was
difficult to truly tell with him.
"Uncle Melrose," she greeted warmly, a playful smile stretching
her lips as she stood from the table. The man was hardly a
couple years older than her, but somewhere along navigating
their companionship, he's adopted an enduring title, making him
an official member of her family. It's how Asena saw it anyway.
"I'm glad you could make it. It's been ages!"
Although her tone was welcoming, her voice warm, and her eyes
glittering with friendship, her Magis roiled at his presence, a
simmering hiss reacting to the memory of a battle long ago.
It had always done this. Usually a power lying dormant until she
awakens it, the Magis rises up when Melrose was close and lurks
beneath the surface, waiting to be called upon. As if an entity
of itself, her Magis was recognizing a threat and took necessary
measures to be prepared, despite how such felt about Melrose or
how she saw him. As such, Asena had to be careful about what she
was near and whom she touched. With the Magis being so close to
the surface, she was more prone to burn things.
Following after Melrose, within only moments, was another man
she did not recognize, but whom seemed to recognize Melrose.
Raising a brow at her "uncle", she turns her welcoming smile to
the stranger. She's about to greet him when yet another slips
into the room.
This man she recognized, but not by personally meeting. She
recognized him via description. A man who could gather
information, one of the best she was told. Farren Waymaker. She
nods to his greeting, a small dip of her waist.
"Asena Valda." With a glance to check if he had on gloves, she
hesitates with extending her hand. The last thing she wanted to
do was sear his skin. "I look forward to working with you," she
offers kindly, forest eyes sweeping to the other two. "With all
of you," she amends. "Please, have a seat," she offers, sweeping
her right hand toward the table, only to bring it up to
mindlessly knead at the ache in her left arm.
"How were your travels?" She asks casually.

Scourged with scars of defeat, Melrose had given into the
contempt to fluent among the enigmatic race.
"Beaten by a foul and mere humana.." He scowled to himself. "In
my youth dare I lose with such unsustainable power."
He raised his fist, noticing quivering abundant among his veins.
He yearned to battle once more. To prove that he could best this
cleansing light. This attracted him to Asena. One of the few who
had bested him in his primal youth.
Y500
"Ah! Lady Asena." He smiled underneath his mask, bowing his
head. "I've dearly missed your youth."
Quite the opposite temperate he had to this day. The disdain he
once felt in his youth cascaded from him as he drew closer to
Lady Asena a multitude of times. Perhaps to this day does he
find his fondness for such the humana contemplative, much for
appearance as being a Dweller may, in fact, only prove a
disadvantage to his lord.
Yet he knew Lady Asena was more intelligent than she let on. A
fool she led others to believe, but a paladin he had witnessed
in his previous years.
Suddenly, however, the air grew thicker with a massive amount of
Magis. "Ah... Elissac." He thought to himself; stepping aside to
allow his young comrade to present himself.
"My lady, this is Elissac. He is a protege of mine of whom
possesses the necessary prowess to be your faithful bodyguard."
He smiled once more beneath his mask and beckoned for his
protege to speak up.
However, not too long after he heard further commotion before
yet another presented himself. Quite an attractive lad at that,
and his scent was one of contemptuous divine.
He leered underneath his mask at the figure, turning to his lord
with his hands lacing together behind his back; his sleeves
hiding most of his arm.

Elissac leaned forward a bit ” I'm not good with introducing
myself but I'm your sword and shield ” he says pulling out the
bag he had ” here, if Melrose trusts you then you will know what
to do with this ” he adds as he extends his arm to hand her the
bag that contains the precious gems ” this is a token of my
word, I might be rough around the edges but my word is bond ” he
says standing up straight again.

Farren's mind revelled in the amount of things that it was
collecting- all within moments! So many connections, so many tid
bits of personality and... weakness. He knew that his job here
was not exploit his team's weaknesses, but his role now was to
spot them, note them and cover them as best he could.
The masked one- a dweller- interested him greatly. Farren could
sense the pulsing power within them and noticed that at their
presence, his candidates own magic seemed to rile. A previous
acquaintance for sure, but of a negative or positive nature, he
couldn't be sure. She called him 'uncle' which inferred the bond
of family and she gave him an embrace. However, the way their
Magis seemed to grow restless in the room suggested unfinished
business. Now what of the mask? Facial scarring? Farren eyed the
man's neat sense of dress and debated if it were vanity that
needed a mask. Or was it a kind of tool the withhold and harness
the male's power? Summary as of yet: Volitile, powerful. History
with Asena; nature unknown.
The 'protege.' With a kind of distaste, he noticed first the
lack of clothing. It took someone cocky and confident in not
only their skin, but their ability to protect it when they flash
it so openly. The dweller-mixbreed seemed normal enough, though
he could detect the scent of Gol magis, and a weaker aura of
Seil magis. The combination would be quite interesting to see in
action- if he showed restraint. Summary: Get a shirt.
And finally, the woman he would now be devoting his service to.
Asena, as he had discovered through careful research of her, had
quite the history. A paladin of sorts... but no need to rehash
what he already knew of her. She was a strong leader;
charismatic and strong-willed. Her powers were something to
behold and to say nothing for her prowess in battle. Her
longsword could be seen at her side and-
Farren's eyes lit up in a moment of delight- a kitty cat!
Crouching, he pulled- seemingly from nowhere -a small tid bit of
chicken, which he gladly offered to the feline as he took a
moment to silently admire her.
He quickly stood up, face morphing to it's usual mask of
indifference before moving to take a seat at the table. He sat
his binder in his lap and began to quickly jot down his
observations, making sure his work was not visible to those in
the room. He brushed the stray hair that fell over his face as
he worked, behind his ear, only to have it fall back moments
later.

By: Kimcora Date: October 17, 2020, 8:03 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Asena took in the group of men around her and mentally made a
note that she would have a cast of characters for sure. This
Elissac looked capable and if he gained Melrose's approval then
he had hers. Her time with the Warriors taught her that you
didn't look down on those willing to stand for something bigger
than themselves. Like she was standing currently to change her
world for the better. Even if it was a daunting idea, she felt a
certain that with their expertise she had a fighting chance.
She gingerly took the bag of gems with her right hand and took a
look inside. Her brows knitted, more in surprise than disregard
for this contribution that would go towards her campaign.
Surely, Elissac didn't think he needed to buy her approval? She
didn't operate that way and didn't expect her camp to think she
did. It sent a bad message. "I appreciate your word over the
financial contribution, Elissac. A bag of gems won't keep a
dagger out of my back. Your skill will." She told him, a wry
smile pulling at her lips. She liked the stand-offish man. It
reminded her of the men she called brothers in the Guild and
made her more comfortable with this meeting of strangers. Now,
she had to get down to business...Right...
Asena lifted her tea to her lips, feeling like she needed a
moment to think of what exactly to say to these men. They
probably saw her as completely inexperienced and hardly the type
to make it as a candidate. But, perhaps they could all surprise
each other...She was about to speak when a movement nearby
caught her eye. Her attention flicked to Farren at his sudden
movement, her Magis flaring slightly at possible danger.
However, the quiet man was playing with the cat? She tilted her
head some at the scene of the stoic and rather bookish man
crouching near her to admire a cat. She would have laughed if it
hand't surprised her so, though her smile returned when he was
back up and back to business as usual like it never happened. He
was a funny one. Maybe this Farren would be an interesting
person to have in her camp, even if she felt his intentions
seemed more mysterious than the others. A comment about his
affinity for the feline faded on her tongue. Perhaps it was best
to keep things less social till the discussions were done.
Besides, she had a feeling he either wouldn't answer or might
get an answer that surprised her. Whether because it was honest
or abrasive.
She turned her attention to Melrose, finding her Uncle was quiet
now with the addition of Farren. She gestured with her head for
him to sit by her. "Since we are all here, I feel it's time to
get to the important bits right? Please, order something if you
want. On me. We should all be comfortable around each other
since we'll be spending a lot of time together from here on
out." She offered the men before resting back in her chair,
trying to ease into her usual confidence as she spoke even
though she felt like she had no idea what she was doing. "We
have a lot to prepare and honestly, I don't know where to begin.
Well, beyond my stances on what the Triangular Truce has gotten
wrong. But I suppose that's more your expertise Uncle, as my
advisor." She stated, finding honesty was the best idea when
dealing with two strangers. They could take her or leave her for
that trait, but she didn't like people who lied about their
ability. It made for high expectations and low return. "I would
also like to open the floor to you all. Any suggestions or
questions I can answer or help plan for, I'm all ears. You are
the experts and I want you all to have as much say as you like."
She glanced around the circle, indiscreetly going back to
messing with the pain in her arm.

Melrose Meghan
Location: Marieve, Alessandria. Piaeta District: The Black Trout

Equipment: Daggers, Mask
What a curious gentleman... The demon nearly trailed off behind
his mask, ignoring the doings of his protege Elissac. Once he
heard Asena begin to speak, he turned to face the woman.
Ironic, it is. The woman nearly represented everything that
Melrose once actively rebelled against. His holier-than-thou
parents who raised the child into the monster he once was, he
found comfort at the confidence and sturdiness the girl showed.
Yet this only stirred more of an invocation for their fated
future battle. Sure, Melrose was to serve her but he still had a
keen interest in battling the woman.
His arms folded behind his back, hands clasping one another as
his sleeves hid his entire arm length. He noticed his protege
had given Asena payment of some sort. He cocked a brow behind
his mask at this. Not quite the imbecile but to give away riches
for no price towards your employer? Curious...
His eyes trailed from Elissac to the feline that had began to
receive attention from the stranger. He always had a strange
fondness for cats. How devious they tended to be stimulated
Melrose's desire for chaos. Though ironically he was now
accompanying order. Not it's purest form, less Asena's fire
cleanse it.
But then he noticed the girl nod her head in a particular
direction. Understanding, he bowed his head and moved to her
side, turning to face the two gentleman. This musn't be all...
is it? He thought to himself. Nearly grimacing, he was forced to
obey Asena and what she wished to pursue. As long as Melrose had
fun, he supposed.
True, he was indeed familiar with the Triangular Truce. A giant
scheme he would call it. Just an excuse for the top tier to
order around their underlings... and he wanted in, himself. Yet
he did understand that order could bring more of what he wanted.
Particularly what Melrose strove for was... complicated at this
point. Nearly lost in thought, he shook himself out of it before
speaking in his delicately handsome tone.
"Ah, my Lady.. you know me too well," he teased. "Yes, the
Triangular Truce has but many shades of difficulties about them.
My Lady intends to set them straight. Of our candidature
opponents are a smooth talker of handsome proportion and a woman
who prides herself under the fealty of Embra." He spoke, his
voice inflecting upon the words of his Lady's adviser...
