       Malachi’s expression dropped in betrayal at Lae’s words and he
       almost snapped in anger before he caught a look at the
       expression on Eir’s face. Oh friend... He could see in the
       drake’s eyes the confusion and hurt and immediately softened a
       little, even if his anger toward Lae increased. Mal made to go
       pull his friend away from the traitor but she seemed to startle
       at something and ran before anything more could be said.
       Coward...
       The group of horses and men came charging toward the dock,
       slowing to a canter as they grew closer. By the stern looks of
       Eir’s parents, Mal was sure this was not going to be a fun
       little story...
       There was surprise on the Elvi’s face when the matriarch of the
       family rushed to check him over after she knew her son was fine.
       His face flushed in embarrassment again at the weird intimacy
       and sensation of being healed. He was never going to get used to
       it-
       Mal watched in a sense of dumbstruck silence as he watched Eir
       be verbally stripped to his bones by his father. The empathy Mal
       held for him in that situation radiated deep within him; he’d
       felt that same anger, disappointment and apathy from his father
       also. Though, it would seem Eirs father implied that his son
       would never be fit to rule, placing the blame for Mal’s
       endangerment on the drakes shoulder.
       He could no longer remain silent as they stood face to face,
       scales creeping along their skin. He pulled away from Fen’Ora
       and moved to place a hand against Eir’s chest and forcing some
       distance between the pair. Mal looked at the male, not making
       eye contact to prevent any offence and bowed deeply.
       “Lord Aluanas, I beg you for your forgiveness. This whole
       situation is undoubtedly on my shoulders. Your son has ever been
       the more level headed one and always sought to make sure I am
       safe and well looked after. I would not doubt to lay my life in
       his hands at his word. My Lord, your son has done nothing for me
       but ensure my well-being and teach me your ways. For that I am
       ever grateful and I apologise for creating a rift between father
       and son. I am willing to take the blame for this incident... say
       the word My Lord and I shall leave your household be...”
       It hurt him to suggest, but if his father really believed Mal
       to be a bad influence, he was willing to leave if it restored
       faith in Eir. Mal had to stand up out of his bow, as the
       pressure on his very bruised ribs was making it hard to breathe.
       He moved back a step, allowing personal space fore everyone, but
       kept his head lowered.

       The pair of men appeared to be locked in an angry duel of wills.
       It was clear their Draconic tempers were flaring and that pride
       was getting in the way of their usual ability to compromise.
       Both were usually quite even kiltered and usually quick cheerful
       and amicable. But, it seemed the fear of danger and the scolding
       led them only to a heated discussion and got their scales
       bristled. Eir would be lying if he said that he didn't feel a
       bit nervous arguing with his father in this way. He had never so
       much as squeaked out a word of anger before towards his parents,
       even when their overprotective natures often led him to feeling
       isolated. Right now, he even felt a bit of relief when Malachi
       got between them, breaking his father's intense gaze from him.
       Eir was taken aback by Malachi's bold statement and the fact he
       took the blame for all this. He shouldn't have, as this wasn't
       his idea solely and neither was it his fault they were taken.
       Eir should have been more aware and smarter. It was his fault he
       and his friend even were in that mess...He was the one that
       pursued Lea after all and her father was the one that helped in
       taking them...
       Ahoran'Jae gave Malachi a steely look that was cold as ice, the
       anger there however was diminishing to a low burn. He seemed to
       see the boy's lack of confrontation and noted his apology. While
       it didn't make things right, he was seemingly eased that he
       didn't try to fight punishment.
       "Father, he is not solely to blame. Malachi is the reason we
       were able to escape. I'm truly sorry if I upset you and
       mother...So please don't make him leave." The plea from his son
       made Ahoran pause and let a breath out from his nose, steam
       rising from his nostrils. He was quiet a moment, before he shook
       his head.
       "We won't be sending him home, but I will be informing your
       father of the events so that they do not have cause to worry and
       for transparencies sake. As for you two," He stated, gesturing
       precisely to each of the pair. "You will be under strict
       supervision. While I appreciate you looking out for one another,
       it is not lost on me that you both are to blame for this
       foolishness. I'm just...relieved you two are alive." He gave
       them a more stern look to Malachi and a deeper, more tense look
       towards Eir.
       "Come along, you both need rest and I am done speaking on this."
       He motioned for the pair to follow, but Fen'Ora came to the
       boy's sides quickly with a hand to each of their backs.
       "Forgive him, boys. He was worried sick about you two. When that
       message came, we thought the worst..." She gave them a gentle
       push towards a pair of horses for them to take.
       By the time they were home, Eir was withdrawn and exhausted. His
       father dismissed them for the night, but Eir looked like he
       hardly could bring himself to go to sleep, let alone process
       everything that happened. As they were left in the foyer by his
       father and mother, the guard returning to their posts, Eir
       glanced at Malachi with a sullen look. "I'm...sorry that I
       helped get us into that mess." He said, wanting to apologize for
       almost causing his friend to be sent home.

       Malachi was relieved when the Lord Aluanas decided against
       sending him home and that he was done talking on the situation.
       He could tell that Draconian fury was not something you played
       lightly and was pleased that the situation seemed to diffuse.
       Malachi was sure his father would be briefly annoyed with the
       situation but would hardly think that it was as big of a
       situation as what it actually was.
       Dinner in the household was definitely a quiet affair and no one
       had felt the need to speak until everyone was excusing
       themselves to their own quarters for the night. Of course this
       time Mal and Eir were escorted to theirs.
       Mal gave his friend a gentle smile “Hey, no need to be so sorry.
       We made it out didn’t we? If it weren’t for your quick thinking
       we’d still be attached to that pole. Things like this happen,
       it’s just about what you learn from it. What I learnt was that
       perhaps you should assess a vendor more closely before buying
       from them.”
       Malachi could tell his friend was still wound up and overwhelmed
       by the whole thing, so when they parted ways for the evening,
       Mal opened his window and sat by it. He pulled a small kind of
       reed pipe from his luggage and began to gently play. Ancient
       Elvi lullabies and songs floated gently on the air. A servant
       back home had taught him the instrument and he’d found solace in
       the peace that it brought. Perhaps Eir would hear from his rooms
       and be comforted enough to fall asleep.

       While Malachi's calming words hardly allowed Eir much reprieve
       from the trauma of the night, but it did well to at least draw a
       breath from the man. While he still felt like a complete failure
       to his parents, he at least knew he had his best friend there to
       soften the blows of his parents disappointment. He still
       couldn't shake the feeling of shame as he was alone in his
       space. How could his parents not trust him beyond a simple
       mistake? Eir did everything right. He listened to his parents,
       he studied and read all the right literature, learned Duthl,
       kept the peace on his mother's side of the family, and managed
       affairs around the home while his father was away. But one night
       he decides to act his age and enjoy a little fun, it's suddenly
       like he murdered someone or set the family treasury ablaze...
       He pondered that fact as he crawled into bed, feeling the
       oppressive haze fill his mind with less than savory thoughts.
       Not only had he upset his father, a man he looked up to, he also
       learned the woman he was speaking with was a liar. Potentially
       one that led them to that trap...He wanted to ask Malachi's
       thoughts, but neither man knew the truth of the matter. While a
       part of him wanted to believe that Lea'Vera wasn't able to be
       bad, he knew deep down that truly he knew too little of her to
       actually know that for certain she could be good.
       A sigh pulled through him as he tried to ease himself enough to
       sleep. And that was when a beautiful light and lilting sound
       filled the air. He hadn't heard the likes of which before, which
       made his head raise and eyes flit to the window. The sound
       emanated from beyond the darkness, hinting it was from somewhere
       in the house. A little sense told him it might be Malachi, as
       the foreign tune hardly matched anything Eir was used to. It
       brought a smile to his lips before he bedded down in the
       blankets, eyes closing in hopes of finding rest.
       ~~~~A month or so later~~~
       The large hall of the museum was alive with the merriment of
       Draconians of all areas of the social elite. Their clothes were
       examples of finery and their horns were brightly jeweled and
       adorned to show the wealth their families garnered. It was an
       array of color and brilliance. There was clearly a hierarchy
       even within the noble circles that mingled amongst the statues,
       artifacts, paintings, and tapestries. Groups huddled together in
       their own islands of familiarity and pomp. It was clear some
       were more traditionalist as they assumed their Draconian forms
       rather than take a human appearance. Those people congregated
       together, while those who took more Humana appearances mingled
       amongst others.
       Eir gave an uncomfortable glance at the room, disliking being in
       a crowd this large. When his father announced this was an event
       they would attend with the family, Eir jumped on it as an
       opportunity to impress his father and earn his good graces back.
       After all, the event tonight was meant as a way to make
       alliances amongst the nobility and speak with their
       representatives on laws to be passed. Everyone here tonight had
       someone they supported and an agenda to further. While Eir's
       family mostly wished to push for trade agreements with Phonax
       and convince the Representative to grant them the charter, Eir
       also was tasked with helping Malachi navigate the people here.
       He was a foreigner after all and most were still leery of him.
       It helped that he wore the traditional robes, even if they were
       tailored to the blue and silver of his people. Eir spared him a
       wry look, eyes hinting at his nervousness around this many
       people. "Do you feel confident with your Vsh'taak? If you're
       going to mingle and plead your case for better relations with
       Phonax alongside us, we might need to practice some." He asked
       Malachi before a voice broke through the crowd.
       "Eir'Asa-ith! There you are!" A bubbly drake of less than
       intimidating height bustled her way from the crowds, golden eyes
       wide with excitement. She was a spritely thing, but seemed to
       contain the energy of a woman twice her size as she came to
       greet the boys. She bowed to Eir before passing a look to
       Malachi, one of surprise that hinted she didn't expect to see a
       foreigner. When she realized she gave him a funny look, the
       woman bowed, the peals adorning her horns bobbling with the
       movement.
       "Well hello...new person?" She said before rising and giving the
       man a once over look. "What strange company you keep, Eir. He
       doesn't look Glaperan." She admitted aloud in Vsh'taak, thinking
       the man wouldn't understand her and Eir gave the woman a half
       laugh.
       "Sehrish, he's hardly strange. This is Lord Malachi Hythian, the
       visitor from Phonax we spoke about." Sehrish's face lit up at
       the mention, appearing curious of the new guest.
       "Oh! Is that so?" She still seemed to be observing him, but had
       put on a more friendly face. "Then it's a pleasure. I'm Sehrish
       Darhazaan, a friend of Eir'Asa's." Her eyes flicked to Eir, a
       teasing scolding look emitting from her. "Well, I thought as
       much until he became a ghost at the libraries. Do you know how
       many scrolls I've combed through on my lonesome that you will
       have to catch up on? Fascinating things on...Well I'm hardly one
       for spoilers." Her joke made Eir chuckle and shake his head.
       "I've been preoccupied with helping Malachi adjust here. We will
       be by the library perhaps Sehrish." She gave a huff and a roll
       of her eyes, seemingly not patient enough for that answer.
       "Fine, I'll manage." She stated with a purse of her lips,
       however it eased as she considered Malachi a moment longer. "So
       tell me Lord Hythian, how are you enjoying Glaperan shores? It's
       not everyday our harbors are open to...new guests."
       Malachi, despite his usual charisma, was a little nervous about
       the event. It was held in the towering halls of the museum;
       grand sandstone walls, marble floors and decadent fittings. For
       one, he’d been cramming his study of Vs’shtak so he would not be
       out of depth- but he still felt his words were clumsy. Secondly,
       he knew his mere appearance at such a prestigious event could
       offend people, so every move he made needed to be calculated.
       Thirdly, Lord Aluanas was trying to endorse trade between Phonax
       and Glapera and the young Elvi would be considered the
       representative of his entire nation. Was there pressure? Yes.
       But Malachi would try and charm his way through it like he did
       every other situation where he felt under prepared. Even as he
       stood there, he endured his robes were still sitting correctly
       and the steel and sapphire, Phonaxian head piece he wore was
       sitting straight.
       Mal looked to Eir, seeing his friend was just as nervous and
       gave him a reassuring smile. He was about to answer the
       suggestion for language practice when a flurry of motion
       interrupted them both.
       Her countenance was lively and warm enough that he wasn’t too
       offended that she tried to evade his ears by speaking to Eir in
       Vs’shtak. Of course, he was well enough learned to understand
       what she was saying and an amused grin tugged at the corner of
       his mouth. He watched the interaction between the two drakes,
       eyes flitting between them. It would seem they were very well
       aquatinted, United by their bookish tendencies... When she
       greeted him formally, he returned her bow but was not allowed
       much space to reply until her query into his stay was laid out.
       He flashed his usual charming smile, ever eager to be on the
       good side of every woman he met.
       “I have found your shores to be much more welcoming than
       expected. The water here is very...” he searched for the word
       “clear and beautiful. There is much beauty here which has not
       been seen by my people and I’m sure that is a dreadful shame”
       his eyes settled on her in a slightly complimentary manner as he
       spoke of ‘unseen beauties’ but he reigned in too much
       flirtation. He sensed Eir and her might have a special
       friendship.
       “I apologise if my Vs’Shtak is basic... I know enough to be
       functional, I’m hardly yet a poet”
       He stepped carefully out of the way of a larger, more scaled
       drake who pushed past, seemingly unaware of his existence there.
       It was something odd he was still getting used to. At home he
       was a golden boy among the people- not to be arrogant -but the
       people loved him.
       “Sehrish, how come you to be in the library more often than Eir?
       That is a feat in itself. Do you work there or is your reading
       entirely for pleasure?”
       He cast a side glance at Eir, silently questioning if his
       Vs’Shtak was up to par. He’d been practicing with everyone he
       met and had been reading much harder than he was used to. He
       hoped it was paying off in some way...
       Sehrish gave a giggle at the compliment eyes batting at the mere
       mention of her being pretty. Her Draconic pride only affirmed it
       in her mind, but it was nice to hear it every once in a while.
       At least he was a polite foreigner. "Well we had hoped you would
       correct that error, Lord Hythian. But, if the waters are all
       that have impressed you, my lord, then Eir has done a poor job
       of showing you the city. Perhaps, you might allow me to help
       show you some more of these 'unseen beauties'?" The question
       there held suggestion, one that even Eir picked up on and was
       not having it. Not because it was Malachi, but because it was
       Sehrish and he knew better than to let Malachi into that trap.
       "Yes, I'm sure Ifram would love that." He stated, knowing that
       would straighten her out.
       At mention of the male's name, Sehrish gave an upward roll of
       her eyes. "We know that big oaf won't care if I make new
       friends. Honestly, we both know he's off admiring himself. My
       husband hardly needs my company.” She chided with a dismissive
       wave of her hand. The soldier was off dealing with some
       stupidness to do with training and she hardly had a care for it.
       It was simply a marriage for political advancement, nothingmore
       than that. "And your Vsh’tak is fine, dear. Good enough to
       contend with me." She did give the dismissive drake a glare as
       he passed, her eyes flashing briefly with a certain fiery anger.
       "Forgive some of us. We may have our heads far up our own
       species a—"
       "Sehrish! Please, we are in public." Eir’Asa scolded when she
       went to curse and speak badly around others. The woman, while
       small, had a mighty temper that fit well with her dragon
       heritage. But that didn’t excuse a lack of manners in public and
       the fact Malachi already was on this ice here.
       Thankfully, she was distracted by talk of books, something that
       Eir was able to use to change the topic.
       "Sehrish and I are study partners. We enjoy research and sharing
       our thoughts on the texts the libraries gather. It’s nice to
       have a friend who can appreciate a good debat." He said with a
       pleased smile that made Sehrish nod.
       "My reading is for both pleasure and career based. My father
       owns the libraries of this city and is the master archivist. I
       get all the perks of showing off and reading all the latest
       additions. One day that might include Phonaxian texts, well if
       you don't crash and burn while talking to these stuffy
       politicians today. " She gave a wag of her brows, making it
       sound much more fancy and appealing than it was to most.
       "See how humble she is? Don’t mind her. Your Vsh’tak is great
       and we just have to speak with a representative who speaks
       Duthl. Lor’Jah Eshad is the representative for Aurix, the more
       financial city state of Glapera. Father thinks we can handle
       speaking with him as his family is an old ally of the Aluanas
       family. Besides, you’re quite good with talking so you should be
       fine. Just be yourself..." Eir told him, however Sehrish rose a
       brow at Eir with a sarcastic snort.
       "If it was that easy, everyone would get loans and governmental
       support from Aurix. Lor is a vain man, very critical of others
       and a bit dull. Greedy is another word for it, as he wears
       things that are quite expensive and loves compliments on his
       appearance. He is very proud of his art even if his paintings
       are atrocious.” Sehrish added, before motioning a waiter down to
       grab a glass of wine from the tray, offering it to Malachi and
       Eir. Eir refuses as he didn’t want to risk being drunk now.
       "I suppose that all helps. But we hardly should approach him
       dishonestly by catering to such vain things. This is business,
       not a garden party." Eir tried to reason but Sehrish only passed
       Malachi a look.
       "I’m sure it’s the same in Phonax. You have to...persuade people
       to hear your point. A few honeyed words don’t bother anyone..."
       Mal looked to Eir when he began pointedly speaking about this
       'Ifram' making Mal break eye-contact with the pretty drake to
       look at his friend with a slight 'Man! She was totally digging
       that-' look before resuming his usual polite and warm stance.
       Though she spoke of her husband, her eyes still glinted in
       question. Perhaps he might take her up on her offer but some
       other time...
       "Perhaps at a later date" he simply stated for his friends sake.
       For now he had to concentrate on the rapid firing of Vs'Shtak
       that fired between the two of them. It would seem she held the
       opinion that foreigners should be welcome to their borders, even
       if it were simply for literature. Malachi gave a sheepish smile
       when the Librarian got so upset about him being jostled aside.
       It was admirable, though Eir quenched her temper with a few
       stern words.
       "I hope not to 'crash and burn' anything today... Eir and I have
       had our fair share of mischief over the past few months, haven't
       we?" he chuckled. Even the idea that he should say something
       stupid or offend someone made him shiver. He wondered if his
       father knew just how deep rooted their prejudice was. Surely he
       wouldn't have sent Mal to fulfil this task if he truly knew what
       a fine balance he was walkng. Charm the women, but ensure it's
       not too obvious so their husbands still liked you, act as though
       you hang on every word of the elderly but flatter and joke with
       the younger ones. It was all a little overwhelming to think of
       how well his mother's pernickety and gossipy nature had prepared
       him for such environments. Always watching like a snake and
       awaiting with the right words to feed someone. Perhaps it was
       manipulation, but in Phonax where he was from, it was just the
       way of things.
       When Sehrish appealed to him on a similar topic to his thoughts,
       he paused a moment. He knew Eir valued honesty and might look
       down on him if he wholly agreed, but knew that Sherish was
       right.
       "Well, I've found that using the 'relevant' pieces of truth
       mixed in with some honeyed half-truths work much better than
       flat out demands. You have to make the other person feel as if
       they hold the power in the deal, the better end of the stick if
       you will. If they're satisfied that they hold the power, they'll
       be more likely to agree with you. Whiiich, let's you get away
       with a lot"
       He took a sip from the wine he was offered and looked at it
       oddly.
       "This isn't just wine is it? I taste some sort of spice? It's
       incredible! Delicious!" he swirled it in the glass with
       practiced ease and smelt the aroma. It really was of high
       quality and he immediately imagined how much his mother would
       love it and love to serve it as 'a delicacy' at one of her
       parties.
       Sehrish gave Eir a wag of her brows when Malachi agreed with her
       in not so many words. She knew the drake came by that streak of
       honesty due to his parents, but it was not always the most
       effective in the political realm. People didn't get to where
       they were through just honesty and hard work. There was a good
       deal of double-dealing and ass-kissing involved. She had to do
       enough of it to protect her father's investments from the
       money-grubbing hands of men that wanted to wed her. She got
       lucky with the ever absent and detached Ifram...
       "See Eir? You can catch more flies with honey." She teased the
       drake that was her own age, however, she sounded motherly in her
       tone. Much like a female teaching a youngling to breathe fire
       for the first time. Eir made a face at the two, but gave a slow,
       hesitant nod. He could concede that perhaps being kind to
       someone was best...even if all the fluff and talk did little to
       get your intentions across.
       "I suppose...but only if we actually make the point that trade
       with Phonax is a truly beneficial thing. I've already studied
       the numbers and facts of it all and my father has already been
       in talks with your father for years. It's simply a matter of
       opening his mind to the benefits of an alliance with Phonax. Who
       better to convince him of that than a lord of Phonax?" Eir was
       trying to make Malachi aware of his power here and the fact that
       although his position wasn't as favored here, he could still
       hold alot of sway and power.
       "Adept taste Lord Hythian. It's cinnamon, a spice that's used in
       many of our deserts. I will send you with a few bottles. But no
       matter...Well I toast to your luck anyways." She raised her
       glass, clinking it with Malachi's before a coquettish grin came
       to her lips. "Oh and I can do something better for you two. I'll
       introduce you to our host!" She set her glass aside on a passing
       tray and pulled Eir and Malachi along with her towards a group
       of speaking Draconian's. They all seemed to be listening to the
       loudest one speak, the infamous Lor'Jah Eshad. He was telling a
       story about something to do with music at an event, one that
       garnered laughs when he made a joke at the musician's expense.
       Sehrish leaned into Malachi's ear, eyes narrowing slightly. "The
       jeweled piece on his lapel is an artifact from the Tesith era.
       Very valuable. Compliment it and I think you're in." She told
       him before giving a giggle that drew attention.
       "Poor thing should have known better than to play so poorly
       before someone of such a trained ear, Representative Eshad." She
       said, batting her eyes at the older man, the compliment
       garnering her a grin from him.
       "Very astute, Lady Darhazaan. I will have to invite you and your
       husband to our next Gala." He then looked between the two men
       there, none of which were her husband by sight. His eyes fell on
       Eir before they landed for a long moment on Malachi. "Unless
       your friends here have a love of the arts, as well?"
       Eir bowed low, knowing that was the cue to introduce himself and
       hoped that Malachi followed suit. "A gracious offer,
       Representative Eshad. Let me introduce myself. Eir'Asa Aluanas."
       The name brought a spark of recognition and a grin to the older
       drake.
       "Ah so you're Lord Aharon'Jae's boy. I have worked closely with
       your father and Uncle, Hirador Aluanas. Fine men." However, his
       attention returned to Malachi with a hard to read expression.
       "But you, I don't know." He stated, in Duthl surprisingly.
       "Representative Lor'Jah Eshad of Aurix, our confederacy's
       financial district. You are?"
       Malachi gave Eir a rueful and slightly nervous glance, "Sure, no
       pressure. Just the potential making or breaking of an alliance.
       Who better? Though I feel this may help-" he said in Duthul as
       he finished the rest of the wine and set it on a tray with other
       empty glasses. He straightened his robes and fixed his long hair
       back over his shoulders, ensuring the braid at his neck was
       still tidy.
       "I will do my best however, as I hope that more friendly
       relations may also mean Eir'Asa might be able to visit my
       homeland. We shall see how he fairs in a land of Elvi; it would
       be funny, no?" he chuckled, looking to Sehrish with a coy look.
       He listened to her advice on the jewel and his eyes immediately
       locked onto it. It was a beautiful stone; skyblue with clouded
       white swirls through it set in gold that reflected the rest of
       his chosen accessories. He nodded and tried to keep that
       information in the forefront of his mind. It would seem that as
       long as you fed into a drake's pride, they are more likely to
       listen to you than if you came at them directly. Malachi was
       definitely relieved when Sehrish took it upon herself to
       introduce them...
       Mal gave a respectful dip of the head and instead chose to reply
       in Vs'Shtak to the man's questions, he turned on the charm that
       he was known for. "Indeed I would say both Eir'Asa and I are
       appreciative of the arts. I am Malachi Galathias Hythian, it's a
       pleasure to meet you Representative Eshad."
       Then as if noticing himself for the first time, he gestured to
       the jewel on his lapel, "May I just say what a fine jewel that
       is. Very fitting to your attire sir- surely a priceless artefact
       or family heirloom, no? It is a lovely colour, much like the
       crystalline waters of your shores I have so wholly fallen in
       love with."
       He hoped his charm was working, as it seemed to not be as
       effective on the tough hide of these prideful men.
       Eir caught the sweet and complicit tone that Malachi employed
       with Lord Eshad. It was different than when he conversed with
       the women and quite formal. Honestly, Eir admired how poised and
       well spoke Malachi was. Clearly he had quite a bit of training.
       Eir had as well, but still was not quite confident in his
       skills. It was why they were supposed to be speaking with an
       ally tonight. However, Eir notes the strange curiosity that
       Representative Eshad showed Malachi. It seemed more critical
       than welcoming, not something uncommon for drakes, but also not
       exactly the exuberant response Eir was expecting. The man even
       began speaking in Duthl, which was a bit strange since the main
       language spoken in negotiations was Vsh’tak. Perhaps he was
       making things easier for the foreigner? But even put that way it
       seemed like a slight...
       Malachi’s clearer Vsh’tak earned him a few blinks and shocked
       glances from the gathered few. Even Representative Eshad looked
       thrown off for a second.
       “So...one of your kind speaks our tongue. Intriguing...most do
       not try to learn our language.”   Representative Eshad stated as
       he eyes up Malachi. He couldn’t tell if that was a good thing or
       a bad thing but he like to think that perhaps impressed the
       representative.
       However he did know the representatives face brightened when
       Malachi mentioned the pin on his lapel. “Ah you have an eye for
       finery then. This is an antique from the Tesith period. One of
       our founders...We have a few pieces in the collection here from
       their family.” He gestured to the room with the hand holding his
       wine glass. He seemed relaxed around the Elvi but there was an
       edge there that Sehrish sensed.
       “As Lord Hythian has learned all about. He’s been diligently
       studying Vsh’tak with our tutors and the history of Glapera. He
       may be near native by the end of this year.”  The prideful
       mention from Eir drew a chuckle from Lor’Jah, one that made
       Sehrish’s eyes narrow subtly.
       “Now that would be a sight...”  The almost mocking tone made Eir
       pause in surprise while Sehrish picked up the slack. Seems Eir
       wasn’t prepared for that sass.
       “I think he shows promise, right Eir?”  The encouragement drew
       Eir out of his shell a little, to something that he finally felt
       confident in speaking over.
       ”He does. In fact I think it takes a great deal of respect for a
       nation to learn its customs like this with no prior exposure. I
       think it will make for excellence future business opportunities
       if more Elvi can be trained in our ways and us theirs.”
       Representative Eshad spared Eir only a nod, seemingly caught in
       his own thought.
       “Only time will tell. Forgive my skepticism. Our founding
       families did have a healthy level of...aversion to allowing
       outsiders close to our finances. Let alone striking deals with
       those that seek to dominate all that they touch.” He stated,
       looking to Malachi for that statement. After all, the Elvilette
       were not known for playing nice with other nations. Not past
       face value diplomacy to either in-debt a nation to them or to
       simply command their loyalty through war. It was a line they had
       not tried with Glapera, but the two nations were quite leery of
       the other. Some viewed the Aluanas’s involvement with Phonax
       almost treasonous when Phonax hardly respected Glapera as a
       nation or threat. After all, wasn’t it a bit of a slap in the
       face to send a lordling there as a model of their nation? Let
       alone not even the first son? Some even viewed Malachi as an
       outright spy...that this whole situation was staged for this boy
       to endear himself to a prominent family that held sway in their
       community...
       “Lord Hythian, I know you are much to young to be making these
       decisions for your family or country. However, how do you view
       relations between Glapera and Phonax? The steady but tenuous
       relations...Surely in your country you learned little of us as
       we do of you...”
       “Hopefully in time we can correct that. My father and I believe
       —.”   The representative raised a hand to cut Eir off.
       “While Aharon’Jae often loves to remind me progress is made
       through moving forward and taking calculated risks, I am not
       convinced placing trust openly in your nation is the right call.
       So let me hear from a youth of their generation his views on the
       matter. Surely you have opinions on whether an alliance is
       possible? Even if through monetary gains...”
