Whats your favorite blast media?

Out of curiosity whats your favorite blast media? I like using
aluminum oxide mostly due to I use 220grit to blast. But looking
for something I can use in my industrial gun. Should I just get
bigger grit Aluminum or should I go a different media all
together?

Martin I use AO for doing glass but that is what I started with.
For doing stone I use SC because as it breaks down it retains it
sharp edges.
I can get 180 AO with no problem but could only SC in
120,nothing smaller. If you use AO with a pressure pot make sure
you ground yourself
because it will shock the hell out of you from the static, I use
a grounding strap on my wrist like the one you use for working
on computers. You can see the charge jump to a ground. Also the
SC give you a flash light effect when you are working on glass.

Martin I get my 180 AO from a local air compressor repair shop.
I was told you can also get it for Tractor supply, also fastenal
has some in their catalog. When I am doing mirrors I sometime
use a siphon gun because I am not carving just taking of the
paint and silvering but I do lower the pressure to about 50 psi

Bob would 120 be to rough or just cut quicker that 180?

Martin 120 would be rougher but that is not a problem as it will
break down to 180 in a short time. It will cut a lot faster and
give you less time to shape the piece the way you want it but
you can reduce your pressure to compensate for that.

Bob thanks for all the help I think I will get the 120 its 30
dollars cheaper and well we can all save a couple of bucks. I
have been using 220 for so long with the mugs and glass.es so
naturally I stayed with it but these bigger pieces are taking a
little too long and too much media even though I save it
