Chapter 1
Savannah and I blasted Sam Woolf’s and Caleb Johnson’s “American
Idol” covers on my iPod all the way to the American Idol Live
concert. I had snuck out of my house, because I knew my foster
dad wouldn’t approve. I have a 10 pm curfew, and I knew the
concert would last until after that.
My real mom abandoned me in a hospital when I was born, and ever
since then, I’ve been in several foster homes. This is my
fifteenth foster home in the seventeen years I’ve been alive.
People say I look like the female version of Caleb Johnson, but
I don’t believe them. I highly doubt I look like Meatloaf or
Jack Black.
Anyways, Savannah and I got to the venue at six, because we
really wanted to meet the Idols beforehand, especially Sam and
Caleb.
After we parked, we got out and went inside. On the way in, we
saw two very familiar faces. Samuel Joseph Woolf and Caleb
Perry Johnson were standing right in front of us!
“Oh, my God! You’re Sam Woolf and Caleb Johnson!” I exclaimed.
“We love you guys so much!”
“Yes, we are,” Sam said, smiling. “What are your names?”
“I’m Rylee, and this is Savannah. You and I follow each other
on Twitter. My handle is RyleeWoolf4ever.”
‘Nice to meet you girls,” Caleb said.
“Can we get pictures?” Savannah asked.
“Sure!”
After we had our pictures taken with Sam and Caleb, we went
inside and looked for our seats.

Caleb’s POV
There was something about that Rylee chick. Something familiar,
but I couldn’t put my finger on it. She couldn’t be my sister,
because my mom said she was born dead.
Or couldn’t she?
During intermission, I called Mom to tell her I may have found
my sister. She answered on the second ring.
“Mom, I think I may have found my sister,” I said.
Mom laughed. “That’s nonsense, Caleb! You know she was
stillborn!”
“Is that Caleb on the phone?” I heard Dad ask.
“Yeah, wanna talk to him?” Mom asked him.
“I need to.”
Mom gave the phone to Dad. “Son, your sister was NOT born dead
seventeen years ago.”
My face went pale from the shock. “What?!”
“Yes, Caleb. Your mother abandoned your sister at the hospital
because she was the result of an unplanned pregnancy.”
“I can’t believe she LIED to me all these years! Seventeen
years, Dad! SEVENTEEN FUCKING YEARS!” I ended the call, put my
head in my hands, and cried.
I felt someone’s hand on my shoulder and looked up. Sam was
looking at me with a concerned face. “Is everything alright,
dude?” he asked.
“Does it LOOK like everything’s alright?! My mom’s a liar!” I
blubbered.
“What did she say that was a lie?”
“She said my sister was born dead seventeen years ago. In
reality, she was abandoned at the hospital. I think Rylee’s my
sister, so I’m gonna talk to her after the show.”
“Good idea.”
