{The Room}
---------------------------------------------------------
Within the joyous halls of the
Nymph's Song there was one singular corner that held no happy
laughter nor conversation. Following along the corridor that led
to the Nullitas' member's rooms there was a particular door that
haunted the halls. It lie locked up tight, silent and still. No
one spoke of it, nor went inside. It collected only dust, as the
passage of time stretched on over the long year since it had
been last occupied. It's former inhabitant avoiding it as if it
were plagued in some way. For a long time this decision was
never questioned, those who had been present on that fateful
night recalled the events but they did not speak of them. Others
who came after had asked but nary an explanation was ever given,
and so the room sat like the opposing door of a mausoleum
undisturbed...

---------------------------------------------------------
|| So I'm to be a new
god then, is that the plan? ||
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

The ringing of last night's concert in Damian's ears woke him
early from his rest even if it was later into the morning. To
say the day had been long and he needed the sleep would be an
understatement, but thankfully as undead as he was, four and a
half hours was technically more than he required. He glanced
over to his left, the bare skin of Levi's back visible to him
after sitting up partially and the sheets floating back down
just high enough to cover one of her delectable back dimples. He
was really finding that he enjoyed these views of her, as if
posed yet merely in reality and looking like goddam art so
effortlessly. It helped that her spine and the long muscles in
her back were catching the morning light exquisitely. Looking
about the room, he smiled at the mess they had made of things as
he recalled the ending of the torturously long day.
Previously - Damian stood in the doorway to his
own room finding that Levi had made herself comfortable while
waiting for him and changed into one of his own silk robes that
currently draped off one shoulder before having taken her time
casually browsing the various shelves with knick knacks,
decorations, books, and his workspace for various blood hunter
and research related things. She seemed to have found a book
that was interesting enough to open up and start skimming
through by the time he got away from his more "official" duties.
"Make yourself at home. I insist," he called out with playful
sincerity. Before she could respond, he continued "Honestly,
it's a good look. And not one I'm upset to walk in on, but I
think you already knew that" while walking over to a cabinet
with his personal collection of wines and liqueurs. Selecting a
brandy from the underdark made with a variety of berries grown
beneath the surface and finished in heartwine barrels, and
making the two of them a brandy sour complete with a rum soaked
cherry lit on fire before dropping it in and extinquishing the
flames as he poured the egg white foam over the top. "Good books
deserve a good drink, and the only thing missing from the view I
walked into was a drink in your free hand."
They had spent a few minutes enjoying the drinks and
entertaining questions of hers about some of the items on his
desk, playfully letting the tension rebuild, but a bit more
physically this time as they were in private. The performance of
teasing and pushing each other solely for themselves as they
danced through motions to find just who was going to take the
lead this evening. As a drow, that honor was clearly in Levi's
favor, but she certainly seemed to enjoy their back and forth.
By the time they found themselves together on Damian's bed
exchanging kisses that began to explore beyond the face or hand
he paused for a moment with an inquisitive look on his face,
"What was it you said earlier? The harder the better? Allow
me...." scratching lightly down her chest, pushing her back to
lay down, "...and if you can manage to undo yourself, I'd be
honored to satiate your appetite for round three."
Levi's consent was filled with curiosity and delight at the
challenge. "Round three, you say?! Bold of you to think I can be
contained that long, but we'll see...."
Presently - And see they had. And the room was the testimony of
that. By the time they had both finally collapsed in exhaustion,
it was already the morning and roosters were beginning to crow
before the sun started to weaken the black of night. Damian
watched Levi's back rise and fall with the deep breaths of sleep
and took a deeper, focused look. He could almost see the blood
as it moved through her veins if he looked hard enough, but
watching her heart in it's slow rhythm he gathered she had truly
been worn out enough to sleep like himself, and was going to be
out for a good hour yet unless something abruptly woke her.
Slipping out of bed and gently pulling the covers back over her,
Damian slipped into a pair of pants and his robe before heading
down to make breakfast he could bring back up to the room.
Walking down the hallway and passed "[glow=black,2,300]the
door[/glow]" with its multiple chains and padlocks (none of
which were magical or even did anything to hold it shut, just
aided in giving it an ominous appearance to ensure people were
too afraid of it to enter), Damian recalled some amount of panic
the day, and even the night before about rooming situations and
pressed his fingers deep against his eyes to rub them, "I really
should make a point to talk to Mal about that. If we're all back
in town for the time being, we need to do something about his
old room."
He took a look at his orb on the walk downstairs, a message from
Mal in the group chat...something about a message being better
for a private message than group chat....."FVCK! I don't even
remember sending that last night. Hopefully only Mal saw it..."
Despite trying to delete the message and reply back about it
being an accident, Damian knew that hope was a futile one the
moment he heard several notifications go off in the main hall as
several others were already downstairs eating breakfast.

Previously- As all of the rest of the world seemed
to settle and fall away, Mal and Meliora retreated to their own
makeshift corner of it. Despite the chaos of the the day he had
accomplished setting aside time to make the cozy smoke room off
of the greenhouse into a nest like sanctuary. A temporary home
away from home as he let Auron take over their previous lodgings
for the night. Tonight was a showcase of just how much they had
all but outgrown the Nymph's Song. With both the business and
Clan exponentially exceeding anything he could have imagined to
begin with... but after tonight's dealing with the King,
Malekith was beginning to feel as though his truer goals of
establishing a place like Moonhaven were in fact something he
could very well turn into a reality.
A place of refuge and rehabilitation as well as somewhere all
the people Mal had grown to care for could be provided for an
safe. Shielding the innocent, protecting victims of circumstance
and rebuilding a better world for those who would otherwise be
lost or forgotten in the bigger picture, while offering a
stability and sense of understanding he never experienced
growing up. It was a selfish wish turned into an altruistic
dream, a dream to alleviate some of the needless suffering in
the world. The construction of Moonhaven would be one of his
most notable accomplishments in this lifetime. There was only
one thing left standing in his way of accomplishing such lofty
goals, but he intended to rise up to meet the challenges brought
forth by this war. And so Malekith Silverfang would do what he
did best; Protect those he cared about and survive to fight
another day.
As he laid sprawled out with a sleeping Meliora curled up beside
him, he fiddle with the friendship bracelet that adorned his
wrist made by Dolly. He thought of his little found family, the
member of the Pack, the Nullitas and those beyond that he had
met over his years, so many of whom had been gathered here this
evening. He felt a wave of content settling over him, this night
serving as a reminder of all that they were fighting to
preserve.
Despite the falling of the gods or greater cosmic forces at
large, all of that felt so far away now as Mal felt more
connected than ever to the struggles of his fellow man. The
simple lives all around that continued on as well as those that
were effected by such vast happenings so far beyond their
control or comprehension. He didn't expect a farmer like
Haymitch or a woman like Sillvetta to understand what was at
stake, those struggles were not theirs to bare. That weight was
meant for people like him and the Nullitas to carry and Mal
would do everything in his power to shield and protect those
bystanders while in turn lending aid to face the greater perils
of the world at large. This is where he was needed.
Presently - Mal had already been up for hours, since Damian's
departure he had gotten into the swing of 'sleep maxing' and
blocking portions of his day to keep his priorities inline and
timelines met. The earliest hours had previously been dedicated
for physical training but had since shifted to preparing daily
needs for his new found family as it were. He was sure to set
aside time to spend with Meliora everyday, meetings with Jaryn
and other prominent members of the guild or society at large,
often took place after breakfast.
Mal liked to get those more tedious things out of the way before
eleven if he could since that's the time he had set aside to
help Auron with 'feeding' Darcy, which more or less was Mal's
excuse to spend time with his ill gotten little brother. The two
of them had been getting along better recently and Mal wasn't
about to neglect that relationship now that it was on the
up-and-up. After lunch, Mal liked to catch up with Millinara and
key staff members, one or two times throughout the week to check
if there is anything that needs to be addressed for the Nymph's
Song. Once that was squared away Mal then turned his attention
further inward to address Clan issues, the work was never done
but Mal never complained, he wasn't afraid of a bit of hard work
and at the end of the day it felt like work worth doing.
Mal had grown to enjoy his little newfound routines, though on
days like today he was flexible enough to account for some
wiggle room. Pushing through the double swing door into the main
dinning hall the man had his arms full, of several precariously
balanced plates and platters as well as a sizzling cast iron of
bacon and eggs that were browned in the fat. He slid a plate
down in front each of the six pack members who were all just
being kids and having fun amongst one another at the end of the
table before plating each of the kids up nothing each of their
preferences.
It was nothing fancy by any stretch of the imagination but it
was an act done out of love. A chance for the children to simple
be just that, children. Not having to be bogged down with worry
about if or when their next meal would come he had seen them all
slowly begun to blossom and showcase their unique personalities.
They had even begun to express their own interests in helping
with random tasks around the Song now that they were
comfortable.
"Eat up! Remember if you want more, just ask alright no
fighting." Mal said with a laugh as the kids began digging in,
some taking more easily to the more civilized aspects of
reentering society than others, like the youngest Dolly who had
particularly taken a shine to Meliora becoming her own little
shadow going so far as to mirroring a lot of her behaviors
something that made Mal melt to watch, like a proud papa. There
certainly was a certain spark in his eye that seemed different
since he and Damian last parted ways, it was a positive change
in him that took the form of content focus on those who were
around him.
His head turned upon hearing the door swing open, greeting
Damian with a wide grin and a wave of a hand towel before he
placed the cast iron down, throwing the towel over his shoulder
before he plopped down into an unoccupied chair a few down from
the kids; leaving them to the freedom of their own discussions
before he motioned for Damian to join him in the seat beside
him. "You're up earlier than I imagined, have a cup." He
motioned to the coffee pot and tower of cups stacked beside it.
"Don't worry, I didn't make the coffee." Mal assured with a wink
alluding to it being done by the kitchen staff instead of
himself seeing as it wasn't something Mal had ever excelled at,
often making it much too grainy and strong for most peoples more
discerning tastes, as was expected of someone raised in bars and
taverns from a young age. While Mal could appreciate the finer
things such as that, he couldn't replicate it like Damian could.

Rounding the corner and entering the main hall, Damian couldn't
help but take in the unfamiliar sight before him. While a
crowded hall pre-lunch was certainly a common thing before he
had left for the Astral, the crowd of rambunctious and somewhat
feral children running circles around Mal as he carried multiple
platters of breakfasty foods to the table was unmistakably new.
He took a moment to watch the hectic scene while Mal set the
platters down and tossed one of the kids gently into a chair as
if they had forgotten how to sit in one until he told them they
had to. Damian couldn't deny that Mal seemed to have a handle on
this new litter of his, even if they weren't technically his own
and his cooking was only moderately improving.
Mal finally caught sight of Damian as he sat down and waved him
over, offering a seat next to him.
As Damian walked over he approached the end of the table where
the more unrestrained of the kids were sitting furthest away
from Mal, leaning into his tired appearance. Much to his
appreciation, the kids weren't paying him attention until he
slammed his hands down on the table, claws out, hackles raised,
fur on ends all over, "HOW.....DARE YOU," pausing for good
measure, "...let Mal get away with not offering you caramel
cinnamon swirl ice cream to go with all of this."
Damian marched straight down to the cellar and came back with a
full pail of ice cream and several large spoons to set in front
of the kids before plopping down in front of Mal, taking a sip
of the coffee he offered, "I can't believe you were gonna keep
all that ice cream for yourself and not share it with them, "
and then burst out laughing after having kept his face straight
and in character flawlessly until then.
"It's not that early for me is it? I got my 4-ish hours....I
think?" He took a moment to look the room over and triple check
Ember wasn't around anywhere before adding "I've got a few
minutes for this cup and to chat, but Levi's still asleep and I
was going to make some breakfast to bring up to her."

Mal seemed ever amused having a hard time stifling his laughter
as Damian put on his dramatic display in an attempt to be
playful despite not having much experience entertaining
children. At first the crew looked to Mal in hesitation as
Damian raised his voice and they feel silent, only to then relax
upon realizing it was all a bit. Once Damian had come back and
slapped the frozen treat down before them all apprehension left
their bodies, as they began to tentatively dig in. "Watch out
for brain freeze kiddos, small bites yeah?" He warned a bit too
late for poor Zeke, the eldest who's face contorted in pain for
a long moment before he seemingly thawed. He had a bit of a
attention deficit so he needed all the brain cells he could
preserve. Most of the kids had never had ice cream before so it
was a treat in it'self to see. "Gosh I almost forgot we had some
of that stowed away." Mal laughed, giving Dorian's hair a tousle
and Dolly a warm reassuring smile that it was alright to dig in
before turning back to answer Damian's question.
Turning his attention back to Damian he took a sip, looking at
his friend from the rim of his coffee mug. "Ember, Meli and a
few of the girls went out to brunch." Mal seemingly answered the
question Damian hadn't asked aloud, he had a way of reading the
room like that quite a lot lately. He was in no way a mind
reader but sometimes it almost felt like he was. Mal's
expression turned serious for a moment as he looked down at his
steaming mug of coffee, he seemed as though he was weighing his
next words carefully. "Let walk and talk." He said motioning to
take a stroll with their coffee. "You should see the gardens
anyway." Mal suggested but his suggestion was quickly shut down
by Damian's response to take time to find his footing for the
day. Unfortunately Mal didn't have such a luxuy and his day was
already blocked out with almost more than he could chew at the
moment especially following all the deals and talks laid out the
night prior.
"Meliora was excited to go to a 'girls brunch' for the first
time, bottomless mimosas might not stand a chance against that
lot." Mal said with a laugh, trying to break the ice a bit and
ease into a less than savory conversation that needed to be
addressed but it was difficult in the bustling setting and there
simply was no way around ripping off the band-aid. "Ember's
clearly struggling. I hope she can find support of some kind,
she wasn't willing to open up to me.. I know you two had your.."
Mal swirled his coffee with one hand as he tried to find his
wording. "Mm... mutual uh... departure from each other's lives,
but I think she might have had a different expectation of how
last night was going to go between you two, that left for some
hard feelings."
Mal rubbed the back of his neck knowing the situation was less
than ideal but he had to get this squared away, his time
belonged to more than just Damian and the Nullitas now. That
being said, Mal was no stranger to just how fickle and complex
feelings could be and this whole situation sucked. "I mean
there's never a right way to go about sh!t like that, feelings
are messy... and if she has other things going on in her life,
well, that can cause feelings to change. Maybe... it might be a
good idea to revisit things and have a proper conversation about
what the two of you are feeling, and maybe just clear the air a
bit, because last night the whole situation was a bit....
tense." Mal's brow furrowed, he rarely enjoyed such heavy
conversations. "I know it isn't really my business, but it
involves two people I really care about and I felt compelled to
at least speak my piece on that matter." He said ending on a
sheepish chuckle and a sigh, all in all he viewed Ember very
much like a younger sister of sorts. Normally if someone had
messed with her heart his first gut reaction would be to set the
one hurting her in their place, but with the person in question
being Damian, Mal went the more restrained route instead of
playing the vindictive big brother but he had a feeling he'd be
vilified for bringing this up regardless.
