With their surroundings unsafe due to the unknowns of the
anomaly awakening in Yggdramos' moon, captain Glenroy elected a
short departure from the system in which they had found
themselves. While being down one particularly useful mercenary,
the crew did have a gifted new recruit at their disposal. With
much thought, Glenroy approached Damien about the idea of field
study. The gist of the plan was to follow any leads they could
surrounding information on the Anomalies both recorded in the
data logs and not. With these leads, the likelihood of finding
any sort of useful information was great while deepening the
pool on knowledge the world possessed on such beings as the
       anomalies was all but guaranteed.
While much of the rest of the settled worlds knew of beings
called Anomalies, the actual understanding of such things was
minimal at best. Thought to be tangible examples of gods and
their powers, many of the people across all known space often
left them alone for fear of punishment that was impossible to
foresee. That was not the case with the Watchers. In their mind,
to best understand a threat was to ceaselessly pursue it, one
       way or another.
When Damien gave the okay to leave the star system for a time, a
week long voyage to a distant system began. As promised, the
library was made fully available to his use with no limitations
on what he was able to pursue. Glenroy had made it clear that
what they were dealing with wasn't just a complete unknown, it
also likely meant great harm would follow the rest of the realms
if it wasn't dealt with. So the vast, digitized offerings of the
library were unlocked without a single glass ceiling to be seen.
Such information as other existing anomalies, compendiums on
types of humanoids and creatures alike, even biological data on
all recorded species of the realms was available for research.
It was clear that even with the week of travel ahead, Damien
would have to carefully choose the subjects he first focused on.
During the travel, however, a few distractions arose, mostly in
the form of a pirate raid lead by ravenous Thri-Kreen mutants, a
powerful comet made almost entirely of an unknown substance
streaking by, and, a mysterious transmission calling for help
       from an otherwise undocumented world.
If nothing else that occurred had made any sense to Damien, one
thing certainly did: guided by his inquisitive mind, his world
was about to get much bigger.

A familar man smirks into the orb as it attempts to render his
movements, it's likeness fraying with static until the clearer
picture cuts through the distortion. Mouse's handy work. Giving
shape to the visage of Malekith staring back and waving
enthusiastically in greeting. His wide, silver fanged smile
gleaming across the far reaches of the Astral as it reached
       Damian.
"Hey D!" The voice on the other end of the line was warm but
hesitant before settling in. "Mouse & the Doc got everything set
up to send logs back and forth while you're away." Mal noteably
didn't use the word 'gone' opting for the word that had less
permanence in their seperation. Not surprising all things
       considered.
"I hope the sea life is treating you kindly up there, tell the
Captain G-spot that Sqibs is settling in just fine here; they're
an interesting one for sure, but seem to be fitting in with our
lot just fine, as to be expected. Even went on a small "girl's
trip" to the Black Iron Forest." Mal chuckled at the notion as
if amused using air quotes deliberately before snickering his
last remark. "Well aside from Nyx's of course."
Mal's mention of the Iron Forest in question felt very much
geared towards Damian's past interests; yet now there was surely
an even more complicated relationship with venturing to the
place in question for the newly crowned Mantle of Death. This
was something Mal was keenly aware of but couldn’t rightly delve
into and pick Damian's brain on the matter more until he
returned. It was still strange for him to consider his friend
potentially accending to godhood, but in Mal's mind, if anyone
could pull it off, it would be Damian.
Mal didn't much elaborate on the exact reasoning for having sent
a team to the forest but did mention the team he sent which
included: Cleo, Squibs, Meliora and Nyx along with the fact that
they retrieved someone who had gotten imprisoned inside the
barrier who might be useful. He'd let Damian put some of the
pieces together of that as he may, considering what they knew of
       the barriers nature.
"She a studied type, necromancer, goes by the name Nidyrae." Mal
use a confident intentionality to his wording as if it conveyed
more clearly that he felt that was some sort of farce in his
eyes or perhaps a half truth. "Not sure what to make of her yet.
Though she did, technically, help us detain a particular person
       of interest for the guild..."
Despite his words Mal's jaw flexed scowling for a moment before
he flashed a toothy grin once more to cover his unease. A common
tactic he used to avoid subjects he didn't like. "Says she might
be able to aid us with Erobas." There was a small bit of hope
that flickered behind his eyes at the mention of their comrade
but it was laced with a healthy amount of skepticism on the
matter. "Though? I expect she'll have terms of some sort when
the time comes to discuss it. I'm sure you'll have plenty to ask
her once you're back so we'll leave that chat for then."
After a brief pause where Mal rubbed the back of his neck and
looked off screen for a moment it was clear thoughts were
flickering on what he should share for now just so he wouldn't
worry Damian. "But uh-yeah. I'm gonna be heading out of town for
a bit, have to deal with... something personal that sort of got
away from me on my last trip out, ha! I'll probably be outta
touch for at least a tenday, but no biggie."
Nevermind the reason he was leaving was to find an escaped war
criminal he had taken in, all just to keep the detainee in
question from being hunted down and killed by Cirice of all
       Inquisitors.... but yes, "no biggie."
"Anyways, keep me in the loop if anything cool happens or if you
read a neat book in that fancy ole space library; just no
blowing the place up, 'ight? I'll talk at'cha later, don't get
too busy with your research to hit me back." He scolded sticking
out his tongue, teasing to keep things light. "See ya later
pu$$y king! I'm out, love you man." Then the screen blinked
       going silent and dark.
