       [color=black][font=georgia]
Deep in the reaches of known space, the pair of Bandaid and
Blindeye operate as enhanced soldiers on the frontlines of
inter-species conflict. Man had turned on himself once more with
the threat of alien life far on the horizon yet in their story.
With tensions mounting as humanity stretched itself too thin
across the stars, the unified state of mankind splintered,
leading to each planet becoming its own, separate people.
The original human government and the special missions
directors, ONI, saw fit to wrangle the children of humanity and
unite them under one banner once more. Whether they were
clinging to the old ways or they knew something nobody else did,
it was a monumental task they had selected. The greatest of
       man's history, in fact.
To accomplish their impossible task, the separate entities
dissolved into one another, becoming known as The Republic, and
they spent every bit of their learned knowledge developing the
most powerful and advanced tactics in battle. They knew there
was no hope of them reuniting with their brethren without the
use of force, and it had to be enough to contend with multiple
planets of equally advanced beings. That's when they began
       augmenting themselves.
Super soldiers became less of a fantasy and more of a household
name. While they were later gifted the moniker Spartan, the
earlier, lawless days of the experiments simply called them
Specialists. While many of them far surpassed human abilities in
a given field, they were also incredibly dangerous when counted
among their non-augmented peers in combat.
That's where our pair comes in. Working as a pair while they
wait for their transfer to go through. They had lost the rest of
their team during a tragic betrayal by someone close to Blind
eye. While he carries that blame himself, it's clear the
traitor, his own uncle, be dealt with. For now, though, they
would need to start chasing him and the only way to find a
traitor was to sift through the trash they hide beneath. It was
a dirty job, but nothing two specialists couldn't handle.

"Blindeye I swear to whatever higher power exists I will turn
you inside out for getting us into this mess!" Bandaid shouted
over the earpiece her voice sharp in his ear, muddled with the
sound of rapid laser fire from her location. She scoffs her back
pinned to a large shipping crate at the outermost edges of the
shipping yard. "You said these bandits weren't armed with laser
rifles!" It seems his Intel was a little off, she knew she
should of been the one to double check. He had a tendency of
letting little things like that fall though the cracks only to
gum things up later. Unfortunately he was always singularly
focused, the way a seasons sniper should be but it was still a
pain on the ass on occasions like this. While this situation may
not be the most dire they've found themselves in she still found
herself annoyed. "Hurry up and lay down some cover fire so I can
retrieve the target." Her voice is laced with hardened
irritation, she just knew he was going to be snarky about her
asking for help on top of it all.

       [color=black][font=georgia]
While the chaos of the fire fight could be heard intimately over
their comms, the sound was nothing more than a few, dispersed
pops and cracks to Blind-eye. He always had the knack for
finding the best vantage point and today was no exception. Clung
to the side of a ruined bridge and held aloft by a silvery tape,
Blind-eye hung in a light bending cocoon, hidden from direct
sight and giving him uninterrupted sight to the field below.
He could see Bandaid pushing her way up a well defended base up
a mountain's edge with a small group of grunts but in between
checking on her status he bounced between targets that appeared
on the edges of the squad's effective range. One trigger pull
and the upper body of a rebel behind an SUV was gone. "Look, I
said they probably didn't have laser weapons. Besides, you're
trained for this sort of skirmish whichever way you slice it."
Two trigger pulls and the left leg of another armored man burst
into flames. "So put that fancy ONI pedigree to use and keep to
your ranges." The third trigger pull was one made with reflex,
not planning, as a man with a sparking energy blade suddenly
leapt out from around an obscuring corner of the winding walls.
"Besides." Blind-eye retorted dryly as he took a fourth and
fifth life. "You've got me watching over you so you've got
nothing to worry about." Six, seven and eight fell to the
ground. Immediately after the eight target was cleared, a
ramping his erupted from Blind-eye's prosthetic arm. With
blinding speed, it unfurled, swapping the empty magazine in the
rifle he held. In the blink of an eye, he had reloaded all while
without losing more than 3.75 cm from his ninth and tenth
       targets.
Bandaid retorted something about bloody explosions painting a
clear picture of where the rest of the squad was heading, after
which, Blind-eye sighed off-mic and returned, just as dry as
always. "It's better for them to paint the walls than for you,
yeah? So how we debate mission clarity after we get this tech
for your scientist overlords." To anyone else his words would be
cutting and his delivery would be cold and lifeless, but Bandaid
had come to learn how Blind-eye operates.
And he always seemed to try to act overly cool when he knew he
       **** up.

Such an ass! "You're insufferable." She says dryly as she pops
up taking a few pot shots at neighboring rebel's downing them
with her laser pistol and moves up in position as you begin
taking out a few more enemies. Bandaid was much more formidable
at closer range, able to pin point vitals and effectively stun
or incapacitate when needed, it's part of what lent her to be
useful outside of her medical duties. Always being sequestered
to small teams she had to learn to adapt and take on a more
generalize role to better cover her own weaknesses. While she
may not have the sheer amount of experience of a veteran like
Blindeye, she was willing and able to learn on the fly. Though
she preferred to keep things by the book, which had clashed with
Blindeye's style on more than one occasion in the past.
She quickly vaults over a nearby supply crate before sliding
behind another. A bullet whizzing past her head and striking an
enemy that was about to round the corner. She's grateful for her
visor obscuring her face as she rolls her eyes but is relieved,
while Conroy could be a right proper ass sometimes he was a hell
of a shot. "Moving in, watch our six." She say rounding about
towards the main building making cover fire for the Sapper to
blow the locks. A small shock-wave resounds before we're able to
enter and begin securing the building. It doesn't take long to
get our hands on what we were sent her for and as we begin
falling back, our sapper gets injured from a malfunction due to
ill fitting equipment. This is the third time I've seen this
happen in the last few months, supplies and repairs are getting
fewer and farther between. With my help and your cover fire we
manage to limp out of there but only by the skin of our teeth.
Once back on the craft, I take my helmet off. My hair sticks to
my face damp from sweat. My brow is furrows tight, it's obvious
I'm broiling. My lips are pursed so tightly my lips are turning
white while my face is growing red. I take a deep breath trying
to compose myself and not let this situation get the better of
me... My mother always said my temper wasn't becoming of a lady.
I take one final deep breath to settle my nerve before I turn to
rejoin you and the squad. My nostrils are doing the little flare
they do when I'm trying to hide the fact that I'm angry despite
putting on a calm and collected look. It's subtle but
unmistakable to miss after our time spent working together, it's
actually rather cute but most know better than to point out such
       a thing.

Bandaid made her move past Blindeye as the jets of the aircraft
began to blow with a shrieking hiss. He knew how much the sound
of the engines turning on annoyed Bandaid, she had said the
frequency messes with her more sensitive implants, whatever that
meant, but he could tell she was fuming as she didn't even react
       this time.
Blindeye watched in silence as the glow of his one eyed visor
bathed her in a soft, mint light. When she had made a point to
sit on the far side of the hull, he knew he'd be in for it
later. Sure enough, as he came to his conclusion, the spiraling
glyph of light that danced in his helmet shifted ever so
slightly as he took a zoomed in look at her nose.
The petite nostrils attached to Bandaid's nose were flaring like
an active volcano so it was clear this wasn't going to slide.
With a muffled sigh, Blindeye shifted their comms to private and
sparked his voice in her ear. "Look, if I thought we'd be in any
real danger, I would've-" His staticky voice cut off as
Bandaid's deep blue eyes shot over, locking onto the glowing eye
peering back at her amid the low light.
Another sigh as Blindeye reached to the pressure key on the back
of his helm. With a relieving hiss, the green glow that was
coating the walls around them vanished, and was replaced with
the soft features of Blindeye. Despite the heat of their
encounter just moments ago, the man looked as calm and collected
as he did on the ride all the way out to this backwater planet.
With her modified senses, Bandaid could even pick up on the
scent of Blindeye's shampoo and, was that.... Cologne!? Her
glare was once again obscured in the darkness but Blindeye could
still feel the cold prickle of her stare. He could sense the
shift once more and quickly sat down in the silence. It would be
safer to let her lead the conversation now before he dug himself
       a deeper hole.

With a deep sigh she pinched the bridge of her nose before her
icy gaze shot over to Blindeye once more. "As if it wasn't bad
enough that I keep getting shuttled off on these measly fetch
quests, stuck in a squadron that keeps getting shipped spare
busted up gear probably dug out of the back of some long
forgotten about warehouse; but now here you are being all smug!"
She says frustrated, her brow is doing that thing where it
scrunches in. The corners of her eyes are misty as she's trying
not to pout because she's a frustrated crier and hates it.
Blindeye is one of the few people who provoke her to this degree
it's almost like he enjoys working her up.
After leaning back and crossing legs, and her arms across her
chest she gave another sigh glancing away from Conroy. "My
pistol jammed up twice today, One detonator fuse was a dud,
Malarkey had his hydrologic line burst on his Exo, tore his ACL
to shreds... you said they weren't suppose to have laser
weapons... We got lucky today." Bandaid says quietly, her voice
barely above a whisper, but she knows he heard her. Her armor is
scuffed from energy weapon fire and caked in blood and dirt from
helping the others in the fray. She's green to a degree but
there's no denying she's started to see her fair share of the
       worser side of conflict.

Blindeye listened to his partner's words as he sparked up a
smoke he kept snuggled in a pocket on the interior of his armor.
With a fanciful flick of his finger tip, the prosthetic trigger
finger he wore sparked into a light flame, lighting the end of
the cigarette. He knew better than to offer her one right now,
she only smoked when she was relaxed already.
"You're right." He admitted as he gave a casual shrug of his
shoulders. "I guess when we're working with less than we're used
to, we could reinvest our energy into planning for things like
equipment malfunctions." Blindeye hoped his objective input
would satiate Bandaid for now. He could tell she was carrying
around a hell of a lot of guilt over what happened to the others
in their program but there was no use in blaming herself.
It felt like ages ago now but Blindeye could still recall when
he was going through the same thing, with vivid detail
nonetheless. All the augments and implants in the world couldn't
help with what somebody went through the first time a friend
died in their arms. The situation was made only more tense as
they both knew it was somebody close to Blindeye that brought it
all down. He had hoped his disarming with humor and honesty
would help move Bandaid along the trail but he wasn't sure if
that was really the case. In the end, she would have to find her
own way through this and that could only start when they weren't
running constant missions just to claim supplies and look for
       answers.
As much as either of them would hate to admit it, the endless
chase they've lead since they lost their squad was starting to
take its toll. They may have been in a special situation but
they were both already 2 weeks over their 'legal' deployment
threshold anyway. While the shrinks back at command didn't know
what real combat did to someone, they did at least know that
everyone had their limit when it came to being on the job too
       long.
"You know what command is gonna say..." Blindeye said, breaking
the fuming silence. "We have to take a break soon, or it will
start to cause permanent damage." Another pause as Bandaid
refused to acknowledge he was right. "Since we still haven't
found a single shred of anything out here, we're only getting
further from the trail. We need to take a step back and look at
things a different way, if we're lucky, they may even make
another mistake and lead us right to them." Blindeye rose and
sat next to Bandaid, there were tears of frustration already
creeping down her cheeks as she tucked away from his approach.
"A lot's happened and y- we haven't had any time to process
things or even think deeper than the surface. We need to be in
our best shape when it's time to make our move." He exhaled the
burnt smoke from his mouth as he looked up to the luggage nets
above them. "That's why when we get back, its straight to the
       bar!"

She hated when he was actually a bit logical, it made it hard

After having handed in their mission bounty and findings they
made their way to their usual drinking hole on station. Though
they had scarely made their way back here together since...
before the incident, only coming here on one or two occasions
since. It was a hole in the wall called The Afterlife, it's
sickly neon sign cast a distinctive tired light as the "f"
occasionally flickered on and off on the sign overhead. "Well it
still certainly smells the same." Bandaid said with a hollow low
laugh before pushing open the door and stepping inside.

Already blowing a cloud of smoke, Blindeye followed behind
Bandaid as she pushed her way into the grubby bar. Eyes fell
onto her, as they always did. Not only was she a gifted agent,
it was widely known she was an ONI alumni, which didn't endear
her at all to any of the republic diehards. Bandaid was also
still pretty new aboard the ship and, well, she was quite easy
on the eyes. It was hard to ignore the fact that she had good
looks but could also kill you, bring you back to life, and kill
you again, which helped to keep anyone from making any more
moves than maybe buying her a drink, which, as you can imagine,
lead to many cheap nights at the pub, at least for her anyway.
Blindeye still had to pay and tip for the both of them,
something he began to find endearing with time.
As they moseyed in and found a pair of stools at the bar, the
barkeep simply eyed Conroy, knowing he would want his usual, the
hoppiest beer on the menu, but the man tilted his head as if to
ask what to get for Bandaid. Conroy answered with a casual shrug
as he didn't know what she was in the mood for either. "What's
your poison?" He asked as she sat down on the cracked, fake
       leather stool.
It was best to ask Astoria what she would like, he knew the
looks she gave the dumba$$es that bought her wine coolers and
pina colladas. Besides, he wasn't here just to help her unwind,
he was also looking forward to actually having some conversation
about everything. If he was lucky, he would actually get
something more out of her than worries about breaching her NDA
       contract.

"Whiskey sour, sour as you can make it." She liked a drink that
make her jaw clench and her chest burn. Bandaid said simply
before heafting herself into the chair and swiveling it around
to face her back to the bar. She could feel eyes on her, burning
into the ONI patches that were clad on her uniform. She was one
of the youngest medics to come out of ONI as a whole, she had
graduated basic by seventeen and had started field work in her
studies shortly after with supervision. Once she had turned
eighteen she had been set loose to continue her work. She
specialized in implant grade surgical augmentation which made
her invaluable if ever augments needed to be repaired or
adjusted on the fly, certainly better than having to wait to
drop back to base for maintenance.
Now at the ripe age of twenty four she had made herself quite
the reputation. There were all sorts of rumors about her but she
didn't pay they much mind. She was wholly dedicated to her
studies and her work, opting not to participate in idly gossip
thought Blindeye sometimes gave her crap about it from time to
       time.
The bartend slid her drink across the smooth surface just as it
seemed it might slide by her to the floor her hand caught it.
Her reflexes were fine tuned for hand to hand primarily
incapacitation and of course the steady hands of surgeon.
With a groan she took the drink and half downed it giving an
exasperated sigh. Blindeye can already tell its gonna be one of
those nights. "I'm pissed..." She groaned cutting go the chase.
"Kal, do me a favor and just make up a second one of these." She
said giving the half empty drink a shake, the ice cube inside
the glass sloshing with a soft clink. "I'm gonna need it..."
