       Allocating Memory

       Has anyone tried to allocate more memory for Minecraft?  I've
       been researching and trying different things.  When it works, I
       don't seem to get any increased performance.  Then sometimes it
       just plain doesn't work at all.
       Both computers I play Minecraft on are  capable (one is brnad
       new).  However, I'm curious if I should be doing this.  I'd like
       to know if anyone has had success with it and if so how they did
       it.
       Currently, my .bat file to increase memory looks like this:
       javaw -Xincgc -verbose:gc -Xmx1024m -jar "location of
       Minecraft.exe here"
       Minecraft starts up fine, but I actually see a decrease in
       performance!  Weird.
