Complete Server Guide for New and Current Players Alike! (Alway
s updated)
By: 65Wolf Date: January 29, 2012, 5:06 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Welcome. If you are new to the WolfCraft Gaming Network, I
would like to welcome you to the server! This guide is here to
make it easier for you to start playing on the server.
Ventrilo Voice Chat Server
We have our own Ventrilo server which enhances the gaming
experience. No longer do you have to stop what you're doing to
type to your friend in the in-game text chat. Now you can talk
in real time without interupting your game. And there is more
than one channel, so if you want, you can get away from others
and have more privacy while chatting with your friends.
You need speakers and a microphone hooked up to your computer to
get the full effect. However, if you have speakers, you can at
least hear what is going on.
There is a small client to download, if you haven't done so
already. You can download the client software at:
HTML http://www.ventrilo.com/download.php
HTML http://www.ventrilo.com/download.php.
Once installed, you can
log in to our Vent server, using the information listed below.
Contact 65Wolf or one of the other Admins, to get your account
password set up. You can log in without a password temporarily
as a Guest.
Thats all there is too it!
You can find out more about Ventrilo at their website,
www.ventrilo.com
HTML http://www.ventrilo.com
. We have used it for several years and
have had real good luck with it!

Where to go for information:

something changes, it will be posted here. You should check this
everyday!
Server Commands - Here you will find the list of commands that
are available on the server and what each command does. Look
here first instead of asking "How do I do ....?" in game.
- Commands Available for Main Server

- Commands Available for Vanilla Server

- Server Guides and Tutorials

-
Here you will find tons of different infromation for the server.
- Server Rules
HTML http://wolfcraft.createaforum.com/server-guides-and-tutorials/server-rules/<br
/>- Here you can find all of the server's rules. You are expecte
d
to read them all.
The best advice we can give you is to join our forums, and get
involved with the community. This way you will always be up to
date on everything within the WolfCraft Gaming Network.
Before anything else, the first thing you should do before even
logging on, is read the Server Rules
HTML http://wolfcraft.createaforum.com/server-guides-and-tutorials/server-rules/.<br
/>The rules are there for a reason and are strictly enforced. We
will not tolerate players who break the rules, or try to find
loop holes. The excuse, "I didn't know," will not work either.
If you are unsure of something, contact an Admin/Mod. If you get
banned from the server, you are gone forever. You most likely
won't get a second chance! Sure that might sound harsh, and
that's because it's meant to be. We have a great community of
players and we want to weed out anyone who is going to ruing the
experience for everyone else.
If you have a suggestions or a correction for this guide please
PM 65Wolf on the forums.

About the Server
When I initially decided to start a server, I had no real plan
in place. But I knew that I wanted to build a fun online
community, while eliminating things that I did not like on other
servers. With the help from family, friends, and our online
community, it has grown into what it is today! What started out
as a .jar file running in the background on my desktop computer,
is now running on its very own dedicated server sitting across
the room from me. Minecraftis the only thing we are running on
that server. Thanks to all of you for helping to make this
possible!

Please show respect to the Admins and the Moderators of the
server. They contribute a lot of their own free time to the
server. And please don't waste their time by arguing about
things, because it's much easier to ban someone then to argue
with them until days end.
Where can I start building?
You can build anywhere you want in the servers except around the
Spawn areas. You should try to be around 100 blocks away from
Spawn to build or it could be torn down. Another place I ask not
to build is close to towns. The reason for that is, if you build
right next to a town and they need that room to expand, you will
likely lose your house. On that same note, if you wish to start
a town, make sure there is sufficient room for future expansion.
Don't start up a town and expect players to move their existing
homes to make room for your new town.

Getting Help
Forget a command? Don't feel like going to the website? Then use
the in-game help!
/help - Shows help options.
/help [pluginname] - Will show help for that plugin (if
available).
Super easy!
Getting Admin Help
Believe it or not Admins are usually busy with improvements to
the server, and if there are several players screaming for help
it can be very frustrating. If you want to get help, or talk to
an Admin, please help us out first by asking for that help in a
organized way. This will insure that you get the help you need
in a timely manner.
The best way to get help is to post on the forums on the
appropriate topic board. Here, other users, or Admin/Mods can
post an answer for you at their convenience. And, if others
have a similar question, it will help them out as well!
Another option is to contact an Admin or Moderator in Vent, if
available. You can PM him/her in vent and privately discuss
what it is that you require help with.
Also, if ingame, you can use the /helpop command. Your message
will be seen by any and all of the Mods/Admins who are presently
online at that time.
The proper format is:
/helpop {type your message here}
How NOT to ask for help.

•Repeatedly typing Admin's name until they respond. This
gets very irritating, especially when there are multiple players
doing this at the same time. This make us not want to help you.
It also causes chat spam.
•Raging in chat that you are not getting any help. This is even
more annoying since a lot of the times we are busy and simply
don't see your message in chat. I also tend to leave the global
channel often so I don't get your message period.

When asking for help in the forums, a few things you should
include in your help requests are:
1: Explain problem clearly so it's easy to understand, and proof
read what you write.
2: Make sure you include the appropriate Worldname and
coordinates (if applicable) so that we can go to the problem
area, if necessary.
3: Do not make requests for common things that have already
discussed already in the Server Guide or Server Rules pages.
Those will likely be dismissed.
Good request:
"My house in the main world got griefed a lot. I need an admin
to do a rollback. The Coords are <x,y,z>" - posted in the Grief
Reporting topic in the forums!
Bad request:
"I got griefed!!!!! Help!!!" - No matter where its posted, it
doesn't tell us anything! Who? What? Where? etc....
Good request:
"I found a structure that is not appropriate and would like it
looked at and removed. Would you take a look and see what you
think?" - posted in the Demolition Request boards.
Like I said above, the BEST way to get help is by using the
forums! Why? Because even if a few players are in need of help,
this will ensure your request gets handled in a timely manner,
and not get lost in the shuffle. This will make it much easier
for us to respond to everyone, rather than having a bunch of
players shouting for help in the game's global chat.
Getting Around
/spawn - Will take you to the spawn of the main world (Eclipse).
/home - Will take you to the location of the first bed you slept
in, if still there, or to your home location that you set using
the /sethome command
Starting Out
When you first join the server you should get yourself familiar
with our website and the forums. There is a ton of information
on there that will answer 99% of any questions that you may
have. Those resources are there for everyone to use in order to
prevent the chat from being spammed with questions that will be
asked over and over.
Getting Money
The currency that is used on the server is dollars. You can use
it to buy items, hire help, buy land in town, rent from other
players, and anything else you can think of. Here are ways you
can get money.
1: Mine and sell gold
Our economy is backed by gold that players mine. After you mine
gold ore and turn it into gold ingots, you can sell them at the
'Cash for Gold' kiosks which will be placed in populated areas
throughout the main server, including in Spawn!
2: Gather resources to make items. You can sell certain items
for money at the various WolfCraft shops (and probably to other
players)!
3: Open up your own ChestShop (Members Only)
Open your own shop in your town, or anywhere you want.
4: Killing Zombie Pigmen
When you kill pigmen you can recieve gold nuggets, which can be
crafted into gold ingots and sold at the Olyesti Municipal
Center.
Where can I buy/sell stuff?
At any of the WolfCraft shops, or from other players and Player
Shops
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you please make it day/night/sunny/stormy?
No.
Can you teleport me to my friend?
No.
Can I spawn stuff?
No.
Can Admins spawn items for me?
No; Even if you lost items due to a glitch, bug, or player.
Can I be an Admin or a Mod?
Only if we ask you! This is something that must be earned! If
you ask and bug us, you will likely never be one.
Is this server available 24/7?
Yes, it is!
Does this server reset it's world map?
No. We plan have the current maps for quite some time. Our first
server had the same world map(s) since Beta 1.3, and we did not
start fresh until 1.0. The next time we reset was for MC 1.4.6.
One of the reasons we started this server was because I got very
frustrated with teenage Admins changing their maps every couple
of weeks. That will NOT happen here!! And if it is decided the
map needs to be changed, you will have plenty of notice on the
forums!
Can I fly here?
Not unless you are a VIP member, at which time you can use the
/fly command. Otherwise, fly mods (as well as other client side
cheats) are prohibited. However, flight is allowed in the
creative world. And you can also use the /fly command in Museum
worlds! The exception to this pertains to Admins/Mods! Flying is
acceptable for Admins/Mods as it is makes for an easier way to
get to places quicker, helping expedite solutions and make it
easier to manage the servers.
Can I x-ray?
No. You will be banned! Invisible texturepacks are forbidden,
as well.
Can I use client side mods?
No. We do not allow any client-side mods on our servers. We want
everyone to have an even chance! Anyone caught using client-side
mods will be banned! Exception: If you use a mini-map, such as
Reis's Minimap, we do allow those.
Can I grief?
Short answer is no, long answer is read the Server Rules
HTML http://wolfcraft.createaforum.com/server-guides-and-tutorials/server-rules/.<br
/> And we do have plugins in place to discourage griefing!
Why am I banned?
You most likely didn't follow the rules, griefed, or cheated.
Can I appeal a ban?
Yes, but it must be done in the Ban Appeal board on the forums.
How can I join a town?
Go onto the town's boards on the forum and apply for a town if
they have a process set up there, or simply talk to that town's
mayor when they are online.
Where can I PvP?
Currently, PvP is not allowed. We may consider adding a PvP
world in the near future. However, if there are any designated
PvP areas, or arenas, it would be acceptable there. Any PvP
outside these designated areas is forbidden, and could be cause
for banning the person(s) involved.
What does VIP mean in front of names?
It means that player has donated to support the server. For more
information on making a voluntary donation, you can CLICK HERE!
HTML http://wolfcraft.createaforum.com/server-guides-and-tutorials/donating-to-the-server-55/<br
/> You can also use the /buy command, in-game, to purchase a
monthly or annual VIP package!
The server is down, what can I do?
We are proud to say our uptime is over 99% of the time!!
However, if you are playing on the server, or trying to login to
the server, but it is down for some reason, try back in a few
minutes. The servers rarely have any unannounced down time, but
it occasionally does happen. Most of the time, if we take the
server down for updates, it only takes a few minutes or less.
And we normally try to do it when noone is online. If we need to
do it while people are online, we will let you know in-game, and
give you a chance to finish what you're doing. If there is an
issue where it will be down longer, we will post it on the
forums!
Sometimes things happen and the servers may go offline. If it
has been offline for 15 minutes or more, and nothing has been
posted about any downtime planned for that server, please let us
know! Please go to the forums, and look for the Admin Emergency
Contact link, which can be found in the upper right hand corner
of every page. You can also find it here: Admin Emergency
Contact Form
HTML https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dDBUYWNRZHhsVHhTem5BcXZPdHA0SEE6MQ.
I got griefed, what do I do?
File a griefing report on our forum here
HTML http://wolfcraft.createaforum.com/requests-and-reports/.
With
our new Grief Prevention plugin, and if you are taking advantage
of using the claims feature, this shouldn't be a problem
anymore!
