Iron gollems and snow gollems

Today I tried to make an iron golem to find it did not work
I tested on single player and made it but it would not work on
multieplayer
I have also had this problem with a snow golem

Is this on the main server? It works just fine for me on the
vanilla server.

They work just fine on both servers. Are you making it
correctly? Remember, you have to build them on the ground, not
in a crafting table.
Iron Golem:
- Place 1 iron block on ground (legs).
- Place 3 iron blocks on top of that (body/arms).
- Finally, place a pumpkin on top (head). *Once you place
pumpkin, it comes to life.
Snow Golelm:
- Place 1 snow block on ground (legs).
- Place 1 snow block on top of that (body).
- Finally, place a pumpkin on top (head). *Once you place
pumpkin, it comes to life.

Are you placing Jack o' lanterns or pumpkins?

Upon further testing, I found you cannot create them if you are
in a residence, unless you set monsters to true. Apparently they
are considered monsters. If you go outside your town, they will
work.
