I'm in favor of spy as well for obvious reasons. I'm weakest at
trade skills at the moment but have several powerful protectors.
I also have an SS that I have been gearing specifically for
Intrigue AvA defense.

I've been training plenty of swindle fodder and should be
decently prepared to die in garrison

I think we had some pretty good results using common swords in
garrison, freshly bought from the keep. That way if they get
killed you have not lost a sword you spend time training up.
My own garrison strategy was to rotate lower level swords
between garrison and AvA missions. The xp is really great on
the AvA, so I was able to level up quite a few swords doing
this. Make sure you check their health in your keep, you should
see if they are wounded, I was pulling mine if I saw 2 or more
wounds.

I've been training them to die.
Edit: I guess my goal will be to Reincarnate after the next 1-3
phases depending on how fast I can perm the swords and items I
want to take.

I'll be able to garrison my excess PtP scrub sworn swords once
I'm done with the 400 PtP wins for that damned obsidian dagger.
I'll give em a bit of training too. That's really no issue for
me to do so.

I just got a message from Blackwood Assassins. They are going
to set up in the North this phase, and have made an offer
similar to the one last phase. This may give us another chance
at hostile spoils. Just something to consider at this point.

Seeing how we can't change the alliances in diplomacy should we
have a thread with Friends/Enemies?

I can start a list of the alliances that we are friends with
that have been friends to us in return.

Okay, now that we have information on the changes for Ghost
phase, I think we can start solidify plans. I think that the
changes in VP earned by camps means we may not want to go
forward with mutual combat with allies, as our camp status will
play an important role. It also looks like having swords
garrisoned may increase vp, so we will need to consider that as
part of the strategy.
Yes, I think garrisoning is a good idea in any case. Sometimes
the only way you can get information about an attack you
received is via the PtP tab. So let's all ready our Helpfuls and
Caidens, they make excellent garrison :p
I would like to suggest the following:
One swindle camp. I'm picking this solely because of the Deal
of a Lifetime challenge. There's risk in this choice, because
if you fail in swindle our camp is damaged. If the challenge is
not a priority for anyone, we can fill it as we go and not worry
about building a camp. If we don't do a swindle camp, then I
would suggest barter, as it has been a very successful strategy
to use barters to pay for camp upgrades, and while I don't have
enough leftover spoils to finish level 6, it's pretty close.
One intrigue camp, and spy is what I'm leaning towards. I think
we will be doing a lot - or our spymaster Henly will on our
behalf. If not intrigue/spy, then the third camp should be what
kind of hostile actions we want to wage against those we target
as enemies.
I'd think for swindle spoils it's better to have any other trade
camp. That way there's no trade-off between upgrading the camp
vs filling up the challenge.
Also, I'd consider NOT upgrading all of the camps to begin with,
but leaving at least one of them at level 0. It seems that the
two extreme ways of earning VP are either keeping a high level
camp undamaged, OR to attack high level camps from level 0 ones.
So it might be worth to wait a bit and see where the middle
ground is. Once we have a high level camp, we can't undo it and
we might end up wanting for targets (while being everyone else's
targets ourselves).
Of course, we'd need ~level 5-6 camps for reasonable spoil drop
rates, and we'll want to see how viable it is to keep our camps
in good shape, so it's also a good idea to get at least one camp
as high as we can.

I've trained some up just for garrison purposes and want to try
them out and welcome the Valkyries taking them to Valhalla.
Swindle or Barter or whatever camps makes no difference until we
know what rewards we are going for if at all.
Just want to add that I like Jon C's previous Alliance's
strategy for defense and think it's worth emulating.
Faynyx raised a good point regarding the 2 ways to gain maximum
VP and I think it's definitely something worth looking into.
