WRITING STUFF TIME
Opposite Side
Ever since I was simply a kid, I've always been rooting on the
villains.
I don't know why.
At preschool, I'd usually get laughed at by the other kids for
wanting the bad guy to win.
I never knew why this instinct popped into my head. I'd usually
have my head down, a plushie of one of the villain characters
from a show on my desk.
Grade school begins. Second grade.
People still look at me funny.
It was one day, in writing. My teacher was telling us to write
whatever we wanted to.
So I hid my instinct, and began to write a story about heroes.
I hid my villain-rooting instinct from the rest of the world.
In fear of being teased.
Taunted.
For something I didn't know how to control.
It was in middle school, when I was left home alone for the
first time.
Nobody was around to watch me.
So I wrote. Not about a hero, but a villain who thinks they're
doing the right thing. From the villain's point of view.
I felt like the biggest weight of my life had been lifted off my
chest.
