BASICS
NAME: Roland, son of Rowen and Kirkland
BIRTHDATE: Spring, 2580
AGE: 32
GENDER: Male
PRONOUNS: He/Him
ORIENTATION: Heterosexual
BIRTHPLACE: Ruatha Hold
LOCATION: Far Western Continent, Westwind Weyr
OCCUPATION: Weyrfolk, Hunter, Former Soldier, Former Harper
Apprentice
WING: N/A
APPEARANCE
HAIR: Shoulder-length, brown hair
EYES: Grey
HEIGHT: 6'6"
WEIGHT: Tall and Lean
PLAY-BY: Viggo Mortensen
APPEARANCE: Roland is a tall, lean man with dark brown hair and
grey eyes. His skin is tanned from a life spent outdoors, with
nimble fingers used to the grip of a bow, sword, or knife. He
typically wears rough clothing, suitable for extended trips in
the wilds, though it's almost always clean and well-kept. Roland
is almost never seen without his family's sword, his short,
curved knife, or his bow, each of which he maintains with
careful work.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Roland is a quiet, reserved individual. Most call
him grim or solemn, though he's been known to crack a smile or
hum a tune on occasion. In truth, Roland prefers to spend his
time in the wilds, as he grew up in a Hold, and found the people
there to be listless and boring. Since joining the Weyrs, Roland
has become less solemn, though he tends to avoid the Dragons,
Whers, and their human bondmates, preferring to spend his time
in the Weyr among the weyrfolk instead.
Roland himself thinks of himself of a kind and giving person.
Roland spends most of his time out of the Weyr, hunting for the
Weyr and mapping the surrounding lands. He returns his findings
to the Weyr and asks for nothing in return.
Roland often spends time on his own, once stating that being
around large groups of people causes him headaches, and then
never talking about the subject again, refusing to answer
questions about it.

FAMILY: Father: [s]Kirkland, the Holdless[/s] (Deceased)
Mother: [s]Rowen, of Ruatha Hold[/s] (Deceased)
Brother: [s]Kiren, of Ruatha Hold[/s] (Deceased)
STATUS: Single, not currently interested, open to change
HISTORY: TW: Death Roland was born to Rowen of Ruatha Hold and
Kirkland, the Holdless, alongside his twin brother, Kiren. Kiren
and Roland grew up in Ruatha Hold, where, for the majority of
their time, they spent learning at the feet of the Holds Harper,
their mother intending to send them to the Harper Hall when they
were old enough. When they were old enough, both Roland and
Kiren were named Apprentice Harpers, and began to make
preparations to travel to the Harper Hall at Benden Hold.
Tragedy struck, though, as Rowen fell ill during Rolands 10th
Turn.
When she died, Kirkland returned to Ruatha Hold and took his
twin sons out of the Hold with him, which Roland took as a
blessing, as the death of his mother soured life in the Holds
for him. For the next 15 Turns, Kirkland introduced his sons to
his Holdless lifestyle of a soldier for hire for the various
Holders and Traders. Roland learned everything he could, and
became rather proficient in the ways of a soldier and hunter.
Kiren was less reluctant to give up life in the Hold, but came
along for his brothers sake. Late Summer 2605, while Kirkland
and his troop were guarding a Trader caravan traveling between
Holds, Kiren was killed in a skirmish with Exiles, and Roland
was left with a smaller family once again.
The final blow was struck to Rolands family when Kirkland was
injured while training with his troop, and fell ill from an
infection. The infection spread fast, and Kirkland died from it,
painfully. Roland took his fathers sword and left the troop,
spending his days hunting wherries and wild runner beasts to
sustain himself. Fortune took a shine on him when he arrived at
Benden Weyr in 2607, injured from a failed hunt. He was allowed
to rest at the Weyr, and when they learned of his skills, they
allowed him to stay, in the Lower Caverns.
Roland made it a point to avoid the Hatchings, and so he missed
the "debacle" that was Haurchefants Impression. When Haurchefant
and Haloneth left the Weyr, Roland went with them, as he felt
they had the right to make their own choices. He helped smuggle
them and the Canidates who fled Benden, and made the journey
across the sea to the Far Western Continent. Once there, Roland
appeared to vanish into the wilderness, and though some assumed
him dead, occasionally tanned hides, dead wherries and tunnel
snakes, and wild fruits and vegetables would appear at the edge
of the settlement to bolster dwindling supplies.
It wasn't until the settlement had settled on a name and
declared itself a Weyr that Roland was seen again, appearing as
if he had never left and settling among the Weyrfolk whenever he
was in the Weyr, refusing to answer questions on where, exactly,
he had been.

[li]Please flesh out a distinct flaw for Roland! As it stands,
he's got a great base, but what trait(s) does he possess that
could be a direct hindrance to what he does or a direct
influence on others? Otherwise, I think he's good to go, once a
flaw or two is laid out! Excellent job![/li]
