[Surprise Gift!] A Treasure Like No Other

As Westwind's Stormcloud Squad ventured out to continue to
explore the land that is our home, a squadmember found and
brought a surprise! An abandoned firelizard's nest was found,
with six beautiful eggs. Deeming the eggs in good health,
they're placed in a basket near the hearth to keep warm, with a
note saying "Please take one!" Would you accept this surprise
gift?

numbered from 1 to 6, from left to right! Staff will come and
hatch your egg! Please be prepared to write a personality for

Araminta hadn't been planning on taking a firelizard on, given
she was still a new dragonrider... but the temptation was too
great. The first egg's shell was such a beautiful dark color and
she was sure if she didn't take it now then someone else
certainly would. Terrath's pleased rumble at least seemed to
make her believe the blue wouldn't mind the presence of a flit
either.
Araminta decides to take #1 with her!

Weyrling Judiana of Bronze Todayath
Upon entering the dining hall, there was a soft gasp of surprise
and fear from Judiana. Before her eyes, being carried in and
displayed to the masses, was a clutch of Firelizard eggs. Six,
in total. The lass felt her heart begin to race in fear, but her
beloved Todayath's voice spoke to her, his tone reassuring and
gentle.
'My darling Judiana, fear not the little flits within those
eggs. For I am with you, now and evermore. Should you wish to
move forward with your life, you cannot let the past haunt you.
What you endured, the betrayal and hurt, shall not come to pass
a second time. History will not repeat itself, my dear. Depend
upon me to protect and shelter you.'
Upon hearing those words, the lass felt her fears diminish. She
swallowed before speaking up.
"Pardon me, but... But... I would like that second egg, please.
If you would be so kind...?"
Judiana decides to let go of the past and take egg #2 with her,
thanks to the encouragement of her bonded!

For a moment, the egg in Araminta's hands didn't stir...

Until it did.
With a heave and a twist and a shudder, the egg fractured and
split, until a bright polka-dotted bundle flopped into her
hands.

What in Faranth's name was that?
Regardless, either unaware or uncaring of the stir her presence
created, the blood-red firelizard yawned in Araminta's hands,
looking up to her new bonded-to-be.

As though hesitant to even move as Judiana felt so afraid, the
egg in her hands didn't stir for a long moment. As Judiana's
fears ebbed and faded with Todayath's reassurance, the egg
offered a small twitch before it began to split.

After a few moments spent in such effort, the egg yielded at
last to allow its precious quarry emerge, tumbling with little
grace into Judiana's hands, all covered in egg-goop and faded
sunset hues, her voice lifted in a small squeak. So cold! So
hungry!

Faranth's mercy, another one? We don't even know what the first
one was, but here comes another for Judiana!

Weyrling Judiana of Bronze Todayath
Judiana could feel her heart stop in her chest as the egg gave
way to the hatchling within. The little flit tumbled into her
hands, covered in goop and colored so... beautifully. Like a
million setting suns decorating the sky. Her fears were
immediately silenced and replaced by awe. How could one be
afraid of something so beautiful...?
She began to cry.
Taking action, Todayath nudged for his bonded to set the flit
down so he could help clean it off. The bronze hatchling
chattered softly with the little thing whilst his rider fetched
it a few scraps of meat. Judiana wept prettily as she fed the
flit, a shaky hand petting it slowly.
"Liana... I think I'll name you Liana."

Celia looked at the clutch of fire lizard eggs. For a moment her
mind flashed back to when she’d found Gilda’s egg lying
abandoned. So small and so delicate. She reached out towards the
clutch.
Gilda flapped down and blocked her hand, glaring reproachfully
at her, as if to say “Surely you don’t need another one of
these? I should be more than enough!”
“Oh Gilda, this little one needs me! It won’t survive without
help, you know that. Also just because I’m going to raise this
little one doesn’t mean I won’t love you.”
Gilda huffed imperiously but moved aside, watching closely as
Celia picked up the third egg.
“Look Gilda, see? See how pretty this little egg is? The shell
is almost the same color as you!”
Gilda leaned forward and sniffed the egg cautiously. Then,
seemingly satisfied, licked it once before clambering up onto
Celia’s shoulders.

The egg in Celia's hands was warm and smooth to touch, gleaming
a soft golden in Westwind's fading light. At last, after a few
moments in still silence, the egg twitched and rattled, the
firelizard within seeking exit.

Would the firelizard within be as gold as its shell? Perhaps
another color lay within? What would we do should another weird
red flit emerged?
The firelizard within emerged without much difficulty, shaking
shells fragments from her head with a snort.

The small pink hatchling stretched in Celia’s cupped hands. She
watched as the delicate wings flapped a few times in their
newfound freedom.
“Oh hello little one!” Celia breathed quietly, shifting the
hatchling to one hand so she could pet it with the other. “I
think, I think I will call you Eos.”
Gilda held firm to her perch on Celia’s shoulder and leaned
forward. Her long neck stretching out to sniff Eos. She growled
softly at the newcomer. Eos cocked her head and peeped at Gilda
before licking Gilda’s snout. Gilda snorted and withdrew her
head quickly.
Celia was about to reprimand Gilda for her behavior when Eos
opened her mouth and began to loudly demand food. Looking
around Celia saw that someone had wisely provided a small plate
of meat scraps once the eggs began hatching. Grabbing a few bits
she fed the hungry fire lizard until she was sated.

Araminta was expecting maybe a bronze firelizard to hatch from
the egg, so her eyes went wide when out stumbled such a bright
red flit! Oh, well that was certainly something one didn't see
every day, yet she already fell in love with the creature. The
new color was striking and yes, strange, but that also meant her
flit was rather unique.
"Hm... Well, you make me think of Zinnias, so that's what I'll
call you! My little Zinnia." The redhead spoke affectionately,
moving to get some meat to feed the very hungry newborn. She
practically wiggled with each select choice of meat, clearly
pleased as their bond cemented into place.
'... She certainly is eccentric. Rather fitting for you, might I
say. Hopefully, she doesn't get you into any more trouble.' The
rumble of her blue echoed through Araminta, bringing forwards a
laugh. Like she needed any help to cause trouble, but this would
be fun to see the red polka flit grow up. Maybe she'd only get
more mischievous or maybe she'd be soothed into something
calmer.
Only time would tell.
