Haloneth had been resting with the eggs, noting the warmth of
Astralath close behind her. One might expect a clutch mother to
be a bit more personal space oriented but not this gold. She
actually felt soothed by his presence, he had more than done his
part as the sire to these eggs, even sitting with them so she
could stretch her legs and wings occationally. She looked
towards the cot nearby to her beloved bonded, the poor lad
having passed out due to lack of proper rest the last day or so
and it bothered her, he was over-worrying.
But her own anxiety seemed to spike slightly when she heard the
louder cracking from the Blooming Talent egg. Her instincts told
her... It was time; these dragonets were not going to wait.
"My children come. Gather, young souls, for if anything happens
to my offspring due to negligence on your part...there will be a
reckoning," she threatened softly, though there was a
seriousness to her tone, as despite knowing she had no say who
they bonded to, she was still their dam and was protective of
them and if she lost any... Well, best not to think that.
Haloneth's call had Haurchefant spring up from his cot, cursing
under his breath and rubbed his eyes, smoothed his hair and
clothing and took his place near his gold, rubbing her side
soothingly, for he was just as nervous as she was. This was big
for the Weyr; the first gold clutch!

Hearing the Queen's call, Noir all but jumped to his feet. It
was happening! Finally! The Hatching was about to take place!
Obediently, he filed out with the rest of the Candidates, taking
his place along the Sands after bowing to the clutchparents as
well as the Weyr(wo)man and new Weyrleader. Would he be left
Standing again? Would he be found worthy? Oh, the excitement and
suspense were going to kill him-! He managed to slip a smile in
Meteion's direction, sending her that same comfort that he was
trying to give himself.
Meanwhile, Judiana was already on her feet, pacing around in her
quarters when the call came. "Oh-!" She exclaimed to herself,
excitement oozing from her tone as she rushed out as well.
She took her own spot after bowing appropriately, noting that
one was just as quick as her to arrive. A rather handsome lad,
he was, and near her age to boot! But love was not on her mind;
Impressing was. Oh, she couldn't wait!

Candidate Meteion - Noir mention, mentions of
Haloneth/Haurchefant, Open
Meteion had been settling in with her scroll, prepared for a bit
of writing when Haloneth's commanding tone filled her mind and
her task was forgotten. Scrambling into her robes and brushing
her hair neatly, she made tracks quick for the hatching sands.
Once she arrived, she bowed to Haloneth and Haurchefant,
offering the same to the clutch sire and their new Weyrleader.
Once the formalities were out of the way, she moved and stood
near Noir, smiling at him. This was it.. today could change many
lives.. would change many lives.. would her friends impress?
Only time would tell.
---------------------------------------------------------
Candidate Zathrian - Open
Zathrian, unlike Meteion, had seen the signs for what they were
and was used to this routine by now and calmly dressed in his
robes and walked towards the hatching sands, taking his place
away from his fellows, not really having made much effort to
know any of them, they were not the focus of his purpose here,
he was here to impress. Bowing to Haloneth and her bonded, he
leaned back, ready to see who might walk away disappointed and
whom might impress that would be worth their salt.

Candidate Theon | Open
Theon's mind was a mess almost instantly after hearing the call.
The only thing that kept him from panicking was Kiran chirping
and nuzzling into his cheek. 'Well... this might be the day, I
suppose.' He thought to himself, setting his firelizard aside to
get changed into the proper robes.
As soon as he arrived at the hatching sands and took his place,
he made sure to bow towards Haloneth and her respective bonded.
He still felt rather anxious, but he tried to force himself to
calm down. There was always a chance he could impress this time
around and he had to hold onto that hope.
Candidate Idalia | Open
Idalia had been reading when she heard the call from Haloneth.
Quick to set the book aside, she got up and spent some time
fixing her hair and putting on her robes. While she knew she
needed to get to the sands quickly, she did take longer than
strictly necessary in her effort to look presentable. This is a
special occasion and she didn't wish to impress looking like a
mess.
Entering the hatching sands a bit later than intended, the young
woman made a deep and graceful bow towards Haloneth and
Haurchefant. Idalia then pushed back a strand of hair from her
face and took her place among her peers, gaze focused on the
hatching eggs. The potential they held was the only thing on her
mind.

Candidate Melora
Melora was running a cloth across her smooth skin in the baths
when Haloneth's call rang across the Weyr, causing her to tilt
her head with interest. "At last," she drawled aloud, tone weary
with impatience, while Aurelia cheeped. Haloneth's clutch was
certain to contain gold; her gold. With no other resident queen
within Westwind, instinct was sure to drive Haloneth to produce
a queen; her queen. After all, no other Candidate was worthier
than Melora herself. Rising from the bath, she deftly dried
herself before acquiring her snowy robes, dressing with no great
haste. Seeing as she was the sole worthy Candidate for the queen
to emerge, she could take her time; no gold would make a hasty
decision and settle for a poor Candidate.
Once she arrived and sent Aurelia aloft to perch as she waited
for her mistress' triumph, Melora strode confidently onto the
Sands, offering a deep curtsy to Haloneth in greeting. After,
she took her place near the central point among the Candidates,
careful not to interact with others. Standing as she was behind
others, she would not attract wayward attention from a
weak-minded and indecisive green or some other color, the beast
misguided and abnormal. Once her queen emerged, she would
present herself, like a phoenix from the ashes. Westwind would
see a new Junior Weyrwoman...and a most worthy one indeed

The Blooming Talent would wait no longer! With a large heave and
a shudder, the smaller cracks widened into splits, allowing
shards and fragments to fall away from the body within. Rather
gracelessly, the dragonet within tumbled out, lifting his nose
from the sand and sneezing.

A blue! What a handsome little blue!
The blue struggled to lift himself from the sands, whimpering
pitifully for a moment. What was wrong? At last, after a
worrying few minutes, the blue got to his feet, shaking his body
to remove the sand clinging to his damp hide. It didn't work,
but it was the effort that mattered! With one leg held close to
his chest - something was not quite right with the limb! - he
began to hobble slowly to meet the Candidates arrayed before him
But a harsh squall from the remnants of his egg caused the blue
to pause and look over his shoulder. An egg thought empty began
to shift and wriggle, until the top split open to allow an exit
for another passenger, to the crowd's gasped amazement.

HTML https://i.imgur.com/AXepWvw.png
Another blue! Twins! Haloneth had yielded twins!
The second blue was as dark as midnight, with no defining
markings except an almost violet blue adorning his wings, to
denote a scene of a crescent moon shrouded in mists. The second
blue glowered spitefully at the first, eyes whirling red. The
first blue lifted his head high, meeting his brother's gaze
directly, refusing to yield and submit to such baleful disgust.
Before a fight could break between the two blues, Haloneth
lowered her head to the second blue with a low growl, gently
nudging him to divert his attention and command him to settle.
With no small amount of attitude, the second blue obeyed and
padded to the Candidates without another glance at the first
blue, though he snapped his tail against his brother's flank in
passing. The first blue ignored it, though his tail twitched in
irritation at the petty act; he had a bonded to find.
The first blue scanned the crowd. Theon was afforded a long
glance before he moved on, as was Judiana and Meiteon. Who would
be this blue's lifemate? Would he even find one? Well, yes! At
long last, he wobbled to sit before Idalia, eyes whirling softly
with those telltale rainbows of Impression.
Idalia... he began, as though unsure how to communicate to her.
After a moment, he gained his confidence and lifted his head a
fraction higher. I'm Alekaeth. Let's go. I don't want Aaroth
making a scene just to make himself a nuisance for us.
The second blue hissed in agitation as he paced along, searching
for a Candidate. Unlike his useless brother, he was a fine and
proper blue; he wouldn't be caught picking some unworthy
Candidate. At last, he would come to select a young man from the
crowd, for no blue should Impress to a woman, in his opinion. As
the pair walked from the Sands, Aaroth lifted his lips in a
snarl at Alekaeth bitterly, though he glanced at his mother, as
though anticipating her ire for his expression of distaste for
his brother before he scurried from the Sands.
Not long after the Blooming Talent hatched its quarry, the
Confident Piccolo began to twitch and shake softly.

Noir's face lit up with delight for the ones chosen in
Impression. "Congratulations!" He called over. "A fine pair,
each of you! You have my best wishes, you both do!" He beamed.
Meanwhile Judiana nearly had to bite back a tiny whimper of
disappointment as she was not yet picked. Her heart had leapt
into her throat as she'd been spared a long glance, but her
hopes were dashed. Soon, she told herself as she smiled at the
two chosen. "Indeed, a heartfelt congratulations to you both!"

Weyr(wo)man Haurchefant, Haloneth | Open, impression thoughts
Haurchefant was not aware of the breath he had been silently
holding as the egg hatched and not one but two dragons spilled
from. Noting the one limping, he almost moved out of concern,
until Haloneth gently held him back with her tail, wanting to
let the young one try to wobble upright and move on his own.
Relief flooded the man once the little blue stood and found a
safe impression. The other twin, the one with a bit of a nasty
attitude.. well.. he would be a handful someday for certain.
Once both dragons had safely impressed, he smiled and offered a
congratulations to the new weyrlings and nodded to E'tria, they
were safely in her charge from here till graduation.
So far.. so good.
Haloneth, on the other hand, had made her point and she was not
about to have a fight break out on the sands, even if it was
between her children. There would be none of this nonsense.
Impression should be the important thing. Her gaze turned to
Idalia after one of her sons had impressed to her. Her gaze
lingered for a moment, as if trying to read the now weyrling. A
few moments later, she dipped her head down and nudged the next
egg as it started splitting. Best to get this moving eh?
---------------------------------------------------------
Candidate Meteion | Idalia and twin blues, Open
Meteion held in the coo of love when a pair of beautiful blues
hatched, her heart going out to the one whom was limping. As he
made his way over and paused to look at first Theon, then her,
she froze for a moment.. and then was filled with a bit of
sadness as the little blue moved on and impressed to Idalia. But
being a sweetling and all, she turned and offered her now former
classmate a smile and a soft clap. " Congrats.. he is
beautiful." She offered and then was rather glad when the
aggressive twin impressed to another candidate she had never
really got to know.
Was her bonded still in those eggs? She had no idea.. but
glancing to Theon and then Noir, she hoped to see both of them
impress today, her friends deserved the world.
---------------------------------------------------------
Candidate Zathrian | Idalia and impression, Melora
Zathrian noted the presence of the two blues.. twins.. that was
not something you see every day. But as one of them was limping,
he frowned slightly, was it injured in the egg somehow, or was
the leg somehow deformed? Oh well, it was not his problem to
ponder as it moved on to impress one of his fellows, whose name
eluded him and honestly, he did not care when the other blue
chose some other unfortunate fool.. that blue was going to be
trouble, he could sense it.
Noticing the "princess" of the class making herself known,
Zathrian spoke, resisting the urge to roll his eyes. " Making
yourself so high and mighty.. is not going to increase your
impression chances. It didn't work with Haloneth clearly. I
figure you would have learned that by now, princess." He
replied, having been familiar with Melora's attitude from back
in Benden, seems that relocation had not changed her at all,
still haughty.. still annoying.

Theon - Open, mentions Meteion and general reaction to
impression
Theon watches in shock as not one, but two little dragons made
their way out of the egg. Twins at least explained the size of
the egg, though he did worry for the one that seemed injured.
Was it due to being a twin? He didn't know enough to be sure,
but regardless his heart sped up a bit as the creature did spend
some time looking at him.
However, it clearly was not meant to be as the newborn instead
moved on to the other candidates. It was fine as, even if a bit
upsetting, there was probably someone better for them to impress
to. As for the second twin, he was actually glad they picked
someone else. While the injured one seemed sweet, he felt bad
for whoever impressed the more aggressive twin. Theon wasn't
picky for the most part, but he didn't want to have a dragon who
is as much of a pain as that.
"Congrats to both." He murmured to those who impressed, gaze
shifting to Meteion as well which made him send a small smile.
Awkward, but hopefully a bit comforting for her. There were
still many eggs that held the potential for them to impress too.
He tried to focus his gaze on the next hatching egg to remind
himself of that fact, wanting to remain helpful.
Idalia - Exits, mentions Alekaeth, Haloneth, other twin, and
general response to her impression
Twins? That wasn't what she expected from the large egg. Perhaps
one large baby, but now that she thought about it the presence
of two blues would account for the egg's massive size. Her gaze
scanned the two, frowning at the brash nature of the second
before her gaze moved to watch that of the first as it lifted
its head in response. The action surprised her, especially as
she made note of the injury.
Completely ignoring that of the second, put off by the
aggression it showed, she found herself interested in who the
first blue would choose. Watching as the twin moved from looking
at each possible option, the last thing Idalia expected was to
see them stop before her and speak. The words stunned her for a
moment, brain turning as she processed that she had managed to
impress this soon into the hatching.
Alekaeth was the little one's name and, now that she could get a
good look at her new bonded, it was fitting for a blue as
beautiful as he was. Yes, the deformed leg would be something
they'd have to work through and wasn't quite what she hoped for,
but they'd manage. Being the first of the clutch to impress on
top of being a twin are two special things that, in her opinion,
were more important to focus on.
"Thank you." Idalia muttered to those that said their
congratulations, though the words themselves were absentminded.
Her focus was on Haloneth as she stared at her, giving a small
respectful nod of her head. She understood the sentiment and she
would not take her impression to the gold's son lightly. 'Indeed
let's go, Alekaeth. Your twin can make a fool of himself without
our help.' The new weyrling mentally spoke as she made her way
out of the sands, head held high the entirety of her exit.

Weyrleader Cora | Blooming Talent egg thoughts/observations
When the announcement went out that Haloneth’s eggs were
hatching, it was still much too early for Cora. She’d slunk into
the room and sequestered herself in a corner, hoping that with
all eyes on the hatching and the candidates, she’d be free to
catch a couple winks.
---------------------------------------------------------
Blue Astralath | Blooming Talent egg thoughts/observations
Astralath nuzzled Haloneth affectionately. “It’s time my love.
Our children will enter the world and find bonded of their own.”
He curled up against her, his body coiled like a spring ready to
pounce. His eyes scanning all around looking for potential
threats in a latent instinctual memory of the bygone era when he
and all his kin were fire lizards hiding in small caves.
The Blooming Talent egg shuddered and split open. Alekaeth
staggered out, he tried to stand and Astralath's heart clenched
in fear, he almost moved forward but was stopped by Haloneth’s
warm presence. She knew this one would be fine, and he trusted
her fully.
The dragonet took wobbly steps forward towards Idalia. Astralath
rumbled contentedly, his son was safe in the care of a bonded
now and he had no need to worry.
As his other son, Aaroth, tried to stir trouble, he glared at
him in warning as Haloneth let out a low growl. Aaroth tossed
his head in indignation at his parents and strutted off towards
his bonded. Astralath sighed inwardly. That one would be a
handful no doubt.
