I try to speak, but nobody can hear
So I wait around for an answer to appear
While I'm watch, watch, watching people pass"
- Waving Through A Window (Dear Evan Handsen)
BASICS
NAME: Theon
BIRTHDATE: Spring 2592
AGE: 20 as of Summer 2612
GENDER: Cis-male
PRONOUNS: He/Him
ORIENTATION: Questioning
BIRTHPLACE: Benden Weyr
LOCATION: Westwind Weyr
OCCUPATION: Apprentice Healercraft, Weyrling (Bronze)
WING: N/A
APPEARANCE
HAIR: Brown and often curly
EYES: Blue
HEIGHT: 6'2"
WEIGHT: 151 lbs
PLAY-BY: Joey Thomas (Chicago MED)
APPEARANCE:
For the most part, Theon is a relatively normal young adult with
curly brown hair that is usually messy and light blue eyes. His
skin is pale and, although he falls at about six foot two, he
falls on the lighter side for his weight at about 151 pounds.
Theon is not one to work out much either, preferring to read or
work indoors so he also doesn't have much muscle to bulk up his
frame which adds to his thin appearance. The most abnormal thing
about Theon that always is noticed rather quickly is his lack of
a right lower arm and hand. The limb stops right above where his
elbow should be and ends in a stump. There is also a decent
amount of scaring around this area, but he keeps that hidden
with fabric that he keeps wrapped around the limb at all times.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Theon is a very quick learner and it isn't very difficult for
him to pick up things when he is focused enough, though it
likely is connected to his hard-working nature. For Theon, it's
hard to leave any task or job unfinished and he tries his best
to always make sure to finish everything he is left with before
doing anything else. For him, it simply feels wrong to not
complete everything as he goes, yet if it really is necessary
though then he is able to deal with sudden changes. His accident
has made him grow up needing to be flexible and learn that not
everything is going to go as planned.
Due to how he grew up, Theon naturally does prefer to be on his
own most of the time. Socializing can be very straining for him
so he's learned that it's just easier to be a loner. This habit
has often led to him being very attentive, looking for anything
out of place and usually noticing if something is off. Usually
taking some extra time to make sure everything is perfect means
less socialization and gives him something to do, yet it
sometimes means he takes longer than most others would. On the
plus side, being so attentive does help him when training his
fire-lizard, Kiran. He is pretty good with animals, finding it
easier to speak with them over other people.
Theon unfortunately struggles with self-expression more than
he'd like to admit. He never has an easy time saying what he
means and often will just trip over his own words or say
something and realize he doesn't mean it the way he put it. It's
what lead to him being such a pushover, finding it easier to
just agree and go along with anything other people say if it
means he can stay quiet. His anxious side doesn't let him forget
past failures after all and often Theon struggles to not worry
about even small things, very fearful of messing things up.

FAMILY:
Nova | Mother | Deceased at age 28
Emmett | Father | Status unknown, Estranged
Kaia | Maternal Aunt, 36 | Alive and serves as a parental figure
for Theon, extremely close to (Open Tie!)
STATUS: Single, Open!
HISTORY:
TW - Death, Abandonment, Accidents resulting in loss of limb,
Descriptions of Depression
Theon was born a bright and excitable boy to proud parents Nova,
a dragonrider, and Emmett, a smithcraft journeyman. Sadly, he
doesn't actually remember much of his parents minus fractured
memories that somehow he's clung onto. His mother died when he
turned about 6 from an illness she couldn't manage to fight off
and his father clearly didn't know how to handle the loss.
In the end, he had moved to dump young Theon onto his maternal
aunt practically in the middle of the night. Kaia tried to find
him again, but Emmett had clearly left Benden Weyr whenever he
abandoned his son. Unfortunately, she couldn't care for Theon
herself and he was placed in the creche to be raised, as she was
a rather new dragonrider of a green and didn't have the time to
dedicate to a young child. Despite this hurdle, she did make
sure to visit him often when she had the time. It wasn't a
surprise that the boy would feel lonely, especially with so many
changes in a short time, and Kaia didn't wish to add on to that.
Anyone would be able to see from how they interacted that Kaia
clearly adored her nephew and had been doing her best the entire
time to be a good aunt.
The most drastic change Theon has ever faced happened when he
turned about 11 and was dared to climb a very tall tree to prove
he was brave. He had mentioned he wanted to be a dragonrider
after all so it was a very kid-like response from the others to
dare him. Theon honestly thought he would have it in the bag,
climbing almost to the top after a while. The problem happened
when he misjudged how sturdy one of the top branches was,
resulting in the limb breaking and sending him falling to the
ground.
The mistake, despite being so small, had resulted in a horrible
break of Theon's right arm and although healers wanted to fix it
because of his age, there was nothing they could do. It was too
far gone by the time they managed to take a look at it so they
eventually had to just remove the lower portion of his arm
starting at just above his elbow. The physical side left him
having to not only heal from the injury but also relearn many
activities due to previously being righthanded. As if that
wasn't enough of a toll, the emotional side of the trauma was
extremely obvious
Theon went from very hyper and social to the exact opposite in a
short time as a result of his new disability. He was only 11 so
it truly felt like the end of the world, especially when his
first thought was that he could no longer be a dragonrider due
to only having one arm. What kind of dragon would pick him? That
combined with a slow recovery only made him more frustrated
which strained friendships and slowly it felt like he was alone
all over again. Kaia did her best to comfort him, but the child
wasn't easy to soothe and it was understandable why.
What kickstarted his true recovery was his aunt's gift for his
12th birthday. As a surprise, she got him a firelizard egg which
hatched into a happy and brightly colored gold hatchling. Kiran
was the name he picked out for his new pet and his presence
truly helped Theon more than he could explain. Suddenly he had
the motivation to get out of bed and do different activities if
it meant he had more time to spend with Kiran. It only got
better as he even realized that Kiran liked to learn tricks and
have books read to him. Theon started to thrive again and
although he still was shy and clearly had developed a heightened
state of anxiety from everything he's dealt with, the child was
at least more open to being friendly.
Kiran became the best companion any boy could have, learning a
bunch of different tricks to amuse Theon or help him when he
struggled due to only having one hand. Theon took massive pride
in his firelizard's care too, making sure he did everything any
good owner would do to ensure the little critter's happiness.
Having the critter made him feel like he could still do
something in the future, so he also decided to start an
apprenticeship in the healercraft. He spent so long there after
the accident and so he knew some of the healers well enough that
it felt like the only logical choice. He didn't feel
dragonriding would be a smart thing to lean on and perhaps his
injury could serve to relate to others in the future if he
became a journeyman.
When he turned old enough to be a candidate, initially he wasn't
going to enter, but his aunt had been the one to convince him.
After all, if he didn't try then how would he know a dragon
wouldn't pick him? Tons of dragonriders could serve Benden Weyr
with injuries like his. Plus, according to Kaia, his hardworking
nature would make up for any other flaws, yet that wasn't his
only concern about dragonriding.
After his injury, he spent almost all his time indoors if he
wasn't working on his apprenticeship and he was a very anxious
person now. He wasn't some brave soul and more importantly, he
didn't want to be picked out of pity. Yet... part of him
couldn't forget the idea. His mother and his Aunt both were
riders and to follow that legacy seemed so important. Theon
finally decided after some thought that it wouldn't hurt to try.
After all, if it didn't work then he could just be a journeyman
healer so with that he began his candidacy alongside his
apprenticeship, working as hard as he could to prove himself.
Around a year later though came the impression of Haloneth to
Haurchefant, a polarizing event that left him uncertain. On one
hand, he hated how people seemed to be so against it, but he
didn't know if he should speak out. His aunt was the one who
helped him with this, offering to take him with the group that
was leaving with the newly bonded pair. Trusting Kaia with all
of his heart, the two set out after the gold and swore their
loyalty to Haloneth.
As Westwind Weyr started to build itself up, he sadly did fail
some impressions for the two first clutches. It was a bit
disheartening, yet Kaia just assured Theon to keep his head up
as they just weren't the right dragons for him. Luckily it seems
as though there will be some new eggs coming, those being
children of Haloneth herself. Perhaps, with just a bit of luck,
maybe he'll impress to one of them. Theon doesn't think he'd be
worthy of such an honor... and yet here he was finding himself
hoping that he was wrong. That maybe, just maybe, one of the
eggs out there that could overlook his disability in favor of
his other qualities.

NAME: Kiran
BIRTHPLACE: Benden Weyr
BIRTHDATE: Autumn 2604
AGE: 8 as of Summer 2612
APPEARANCE
COLOR: Gold
APPEARANCE: Kiran is a brightly colored gold firelizard that
falls on the smaller side of the spectrum. Having a more slender
build, the creature clearly is made for speed and agility which
is fitting for their role. Ready to jump to action, Kiran's hide
is covered with marks of soft oranges that give depth to the
hide's appearance. The bright, sunshine colors seem very fitting
of a firelizard that is so happy.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Kiran by default is a very happy and intelligent
fire lizard. While he is not physically strong, he is able to
pick up tricks and skills just as fast as Theon himself is able
to. Kiran acts as his support in almost every way, fetching
small items, cheering him up, and even small things like holding
down papers so Theon can write easily. The fire lizard however
does tend to have his moments of aggression. If someone is too
close to Theon and seemingly stressing him out, often it'll lead
to a bite or strike at said person. Granted this wouldn't be
such a big deal if it wasn't for the fact his owner is often
stressed regardless, leading to some innocent people getting an
unwarranted boo-boo.

"We will prove that we are the ones the Weyr wants, not these
weak ones; the Weyr will not want them, soon enough. Come,
Theon. We've much to do."
BASICS
NAME: Ustinjath
BIRTHPLACE: Westwind Weyr
BIRTHDATE: Mid Autumn 2612
AGE: Newborn as of Mid Autumn 2612
APPEARANCE
LENGTH: 58 ft.
HEIGHT: 12.5 ft.
WINGSPAN: 74 ft.
COLOR: Bronze
TEXT COLOR: #ebc39c
APPEARANCE:
Ustinjath is a small and rather lean bronze. In comparison to
his classical counterparts, he could be considered a runt,
though it would be wise to not say as much around Ustinjath.
Rather simple and even Traditional in coloration, Ustinjath
bears a plain bronze hide in the standard bronze hue, but
perhaps a touch lighter. Across his wings are swirls in a dark
bronze, like netting casting shadows over the earth.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Ustinjath is a bronze that despises creativity and
individuality; the things that make a person unique. Ustinjath
is a black-and-white thinker, seeing it as a waste of time and
utterly foreign to deviate from the norm. Ustinjath views
himself as a ruler, the sole worthy candidate. But his idea of
leading consists of restricting all freedom and seeing Pern to
an age of military industry; instilling a sense of fear in his
subjects for "enemies" and placing himself as the savior and
leader Pern needs. Feelings too are alien to Ustinjath. Showing
emotion is the greatest weakness one can possess; one Ustinjath
will adamantly resist. Ustinjath is a paragon of strength and
duty; those who cannot see it are fools who are not welcome in
his world.
To his bonded, Ustinjath is an ally, but not a friend. At least,
not an open friend. A leader such as himself needs a bonded to
match; someone strong and resilient. And should such a person
not shape up? Ustinjath will make them shape up. Weakness is not
an option; not in this world. Like stereotypical bronzes, he is
proud and a touch arrogant, though both are emotions that are
masked, as usual. Should he give an order, he expects it to be
obeyed immediately and to the letter. Those that do not comply
shall face the righteous wrath of a true bronze. Ustinjath will
no accept a hint of insubordination. Ever. Ustinjath dislikes
almost all of his clutch-siblings, particularly Todayath, but
favors Aaronoth, seeing the blue as more intelligent and useful
than his worthless siblings.
VOICE: Ustinjath’s mindvoice skews feminine, as firm as stone
and bitter as the winter's wind. A hoarse and cracking sound
colors his tone, as though he is utterly ancient.
WHY THEON?: Theon and Ustinjath have a lot in common, provided
they can look beneath the surface and find it. Theon can help
Ustinjath loosen up a bit, while Ustinjath will press Theon into
the spotlight and always stay at his side. I think it’s cute
too, eheh. Good luck, Theon; you’re gonna need it.
