You're the savior of my ability to love, I found the will to
change in you.
Though I'm still ashamed if how I start the flames..
You accept me for what's true.
As the bursts of color filled the skyline, it was not the only
thing awakening with the dawn. A large golden hued dragon was
staring at the sky, her hide alight like starfire and almost
rivaling the sun in her beauty. Haurchefant had been up about an
hour, as was his way, always up with the sun. He then felt a
strong rush of something heady and almost hormonal rush through
his body.
He remembered his lessons.. and he was not blind to his gold
glowing brighter each day. It was time.. her maiden flight had
come. Looking to her rider as he approached her, she bent her
head down and nuzzled against him ever so gently. Smiling
warmly, he looked up to his gold. " Haloneth.. I know and its
your time to shine. Worry not about me, this is your path to
choose, your mate to pick. Listen to your heart and let it guide
you."
Nodding to her rider, she turned her head to the sky and rose
from her weyr and flew for the Fireheights, calling out as she
did so.
" Dragons of Westwind, I, Haloneth, rise and ride the clouds.
Who amongst your wishes to brave unknown sky along side me? If
you think yourself brave and true, follow my star, show me your
heart."

Bronze Masamuth
Auron and Masamuth has risen with the sun, as custom dictated. A
dragonrider did not lay abed past the sunrise, for duty must be
attended. But today would see a new duty. A being of golden
radiance flew for the sky as Haloneth's voice rang out, calling
for chasers to pursue her and show her the strength needed to be
her mate. Masamuth rose to his feet before her voice finished
echoing over the Weyrbowl, bringing Auron to look up from the
latest reports from the Weyr's patrols.
Do you intend to chase Haloneth? Auron queried. I do, Masamuth
responded, striding to his ledge. Does that concern you? Not
particularly, no. Bronzes chase golds, I suppose. Be prepared to
face competition, for Haloneth is not a Benden queen, and
dragons of all color are welcome to chase her. Auron sighed and
looked back to his reports, feeling the weight of his position
as Interim Weyrleader as heavily as Masamuth's gaze upon him. I
will chase Haloneth as my right as bronze, Masamuth added. But I
chase to cement our place as well. Haloneth's bonded chose you
as Weyrleader, not Haloneth herself through me. I will not allow
this opportunity to slip past. No other is more suited to serve
as Weyrleader than you and I. Know this, and know that this is
why I pursue Haloneth into this day's dawn. For you.
With nothing more to be said, Masamuth turned and descended to
the herdbeast pens to blood for the energy he needed for the
flight. With that complete, he turned his head skyward before
leaping into the air, wings pumping mightily to catch up to
Haloneth and keep pace. I would show you my strength, Masamuth
said to Haloneth. My bravery is unmatched, but I shall show you
through example; not words alone. Where the queen goes, a bronze
must follow, and I shall follow you into the unknown. Test my
mettle, and you shall not be disappointed.

Blue Inikoth
Inikoth drowsed in the early morning sunlight as he waited for
P'tyr to emerge from the Weyr they shared. While Inikoth always
looked his best - thanks to his bonded's dutiful ministrations -
P'tyr took his time to look perfect. Such a thing was more
crucial than ever before, with his place as Wingleader. A sigh
slipped free from the blue as he mused. Wingleader. Such a
position for a blue to boast, where once bronzes or a fortunate
brown held the honor. But it wasn't enough for Inikoth.
Wingleader was a boon, yes...but why stop? With the manner
Westwind ran itself as a Weyr, all Inikoth needed to do was earn
the queen's favor in mating flight. And that would be no
challenge for a blue such as himself.
As though his words spoke to fate itself, the gleaming golden
being of Haloneth rose into the sky, calling for those brave of
heart to chase her. Inikoth got to his feet in one fluid motion,
shrugging his shoulders to prepare for flight. Haloneth rises,
Inikoth smoothly informed his bonded. I elect to chase her. Do,
P'tyr responded, smoothing a hand over his vest to stay the
building excitement he felt through Inikoth. Good fortune to
you, though you won't need it. I believe in your abilties. Show
Haloneth what a true blue is capable of being; show her that the
only mate worthy of her is you. Inikoth rumbled pleasantly to
his bonded before he flew to the pens to blood. Leaving the
carcasses behind, he rose gracefully in pursuit of Haloneth. I
greet you, fair Haloneth, he called to the gold, his voice a
tender croon. I would follow you wherever you lead, for I am
Inikoth, and I am not a blue to be ignored.

Blue Astralath
Astralath stretched with a wide yawn upon his ledge, fanning his
wings as he greeted the dawn. What a bright and glorious day!
Before he could turn and alert his bonded that such a wonderful
morning awaited them, the glory of the golden Haloneth sailed
into the sky, calling for chasers to prove themselves to her.
Astralath was so inclined to run the gauntlet. Well, fly it,
rather.
Ducking his head into the Weyr he shared with his bonded, the
blue called: Haloneth rises! I should like to pursue her. A deep
sighing breath was his response, indicating his bonded still
rested, even as she began to sense her blue's growing
excitement. Astralath rumbled fondly, turning quietly and dove
into flight to blood and chase the queen.
Astralath spread his wings to catch the autumn air, he soared
with visible delight. Never would he tire in the thrill of
flight, particularly when he had such lovely flying companions.
Coming up level with his fellow chasers in pursuit of Haloneth,
he bugled a greeting. Hail, fair Haloneth! What a glorious dawn
you've chosen to rise in concert! I would follow you into every
unknown, for as long as you willed! I would show you my bravery;
to ride the clouds, come fair weather or the most terrible
storms.

Haloneth was pleased by her chasers. Each was a fine dragon in
his own right. However, when she weighed her options, she found
that her eye was drawn towards the softer spoken blue, the one
without an ego the size of her wing span.
Besides.. his energy was cute and she liked that.. it reminded
her of her bonded and that was always a point in her favor.
Turning towards the group, she stopped and faced them.
" Each of you are brave and true in your own right. However, as
I can only pick one this day, do not be discouraged if I do not
chose you. It does not mean I favor you less and I encourage you
to try again. That said.. Astralath... come forth, for it is you
I choose today."
She called out and flew off, waiting for the blue to follow her.
She had made her choice and nothing would change her mind.
