       [center]Firelizards
       Firelizards, often called "flits," are the cat-sized distant
       relatives to dragons, and are common companions and pets for
       many of Pern's people. Often simpleminded, a flit has the
       capability to learn several tricks and carry messages, among
       other simple tasks. A flit may communicate with limited
       telepathy, using images, colors, and sounds to convey ideas,
       thoughts, and desires; as well as send warnings. Anyone may
       Impress to a firelizard of any color, for all that is necessary
       to cement a bond with a hatchling is to feed the newborn flit.
       Like whers, flits come in all draconic colors and Impress to any
       gender without difficulty. A person may bond up to three flits
       in total; Candidates may only start with one firelizard, and
       acquire more after graduation from weyrlinghood/wherlinghood.
