"Outside the dream world, life can be harsh--even cruel...but it
is life."
-Auron (Final Fantasy X)
BASICS
NAME: Auron
BIRTHDATE: Late Autumn 2568
AGE: 44 as of Late Summer 2612
GENDER: Masculine
PRONOUNS: Masculine (he/him/his)
ORIENTATION: Heterosexual
BIRTHPLACE: Benden Hold
LOCATION: Westwind Weyr
OCCUPATION: Wingrider, Interim Weyrleader
WING: Meteor
APPEARANCE
HAIR: Salt-and-Pepper
EYES: Amber Brown
HEIGHT: 6' 0"
WEIGHT: Muscular
PLAY-BY: Auron (Final Fantasy X)
APPEARANCE:
Auron is an impressive man, standing at a height of 6' even,
with a build to match. Turns of dedicated training left him with
a muscular and powerful body. Auron's hair was black at birth,
but age and prolonged stress has left him with a salt-and-pepper
hue to his hair. Auron's single usable eye is a warm amber in
hue. Due to injury in the line of duty, evacuating civilians in
a natural disaster, he does not have use of his right eye, and
wears dark glasses to protect what is left of his vision. In
terms of his wardrobe, Auron prefers function over fashion; he
often wears dark pants and a dark sleeveless shirt, with a red
overcoat on top. Bracers and heavy boots complete the look,
protecting him from whatever he might encounter in the line of
duty.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Auron is a strict and no-nonsense sort of person. Duty comes
before all else. Sacrifice is inevitable and must be made
without hesitation or emotion clouding your judgement. All the
same, he possesses a sense of grace and dignity about him,
carrying himself with strength and poise. Most often, Auron is
the sort of man to say nothing, but rather observe and gather
information. But when Auron does deign to speak, it's advisable
to heed his words, filled with wisdom and caution garnered
through experience. In his youth, he was rash and reckless,
always saying what he willed without thought or care. Auron is
ashamed of the foolish actions of his past that impacted the
lives of those who did not deserve it, and holds a sense of
self-loathing deep within him.
Despite his cool and stoic outer shell, Auron is a distinct
father-figure. With patience like an endless well, he is willing
to take those who need his guidance under his wing. So long as
the actions of those under his charge do not negatively impact
the Weyr, he is agreeable to let them do as they please. While
his loyalty is difficult to earn, Auron makes a strong and
steadfast ally to the end. Auron dislikes the adoration afforded
him as a bronzerider and Weyrleader. What makes him different
from another dragonrider? Auron finds Masamuth to be a fine
partner, and while the bond between them may not be what many
expect between dragon and man, it is perfect for the two of
them. Auron strives to be strong so others will not need to make
the hard choices, but he encourages and even forces others to
stand up for themselves when he sees fit to do so.
HISTORY
THEME: N/A
FAMILY:
Father - guard - living
Mother - housewife - living
Siblings/Half-Siblings - none
STATUS: Single, open!
HISTORY: TW: injury
Auron was born to a simple life, with his father a Hold guard
and his mother a housewife. It was Auron's goal from a young age
to serve in the guard, as his father did. Auron joined the guard
at the age of nineteen Turns, one of the youngest ever to serve.
Oh, how proud Auron was of himself, and his parents of him! But
it didn't last long, for Auron made a choice that changed his
prospects forever. One of the senior-ranking guards approached
Auron with a proposal of a union, between Auron and the senior
guard's eldest daughter. Auron refused in quite an ill-mannered
way, and it thrust his life and the lives of his parents into
chaos. Auron was immediately suspended from the guard, until
further notcied. Gossip spread like wildfire, and Auron and his
family retreated from the eyes of the public in shame. But Auron
chafed at the outcome of his actions. Living like this...this
was no way to live!
But a new opportunity presented itself, in the form of a Benden
Searchdragon. On an uncommon excursion to market, Auron found
himself face-to-face with a mighty blue dragon, who promptly
chose him for Candidacy. After regaining his wits from the
surprise of the revelation, Auron considered the option for only
a moment before he accepted. Perhaps some measure of honor would
be returned to his family, upon his Impression. Auron travelled
to Benden Weyr in his twentieth Turn, and Stood for clutches
until his twenty-second Turn. In his twenty-second Turn, a fine
bronze hatched and strode directly to sit before Auron,
introducing himself and leaving the man no room to argue that
this bronze -- Masamuth -- was Auron's bonded. Auron found no
reason to argue, and the pair entered weyrlinghood in pride.
Graduation came easily to the man and bronze, for both were
well-matched and determined to succeed, and they entered the
Wings with the knowledge and readiness needed to fight Thread.
But Thread had since abated Turns ago, sending Pern into the
next Interval of peace and prosperity. Despite the lack of the
dragonriders' sworn nemesis, Auron and Masamuth still flew
patrols and ran drills as though Thread fell constantly. Neither
would find themselves in a situation and be poorly-equipped to
manage. This mentality saved Auron's life, at one point. A
natural disaster struck a Minor Hold under Benden Weyr's
protection, and the dragonriders and wherhandlers went to give
aid and serve as disaster relief. A piece of a roof fell free
over Auron's head, while he didn't escape unscathed, it was his
reflexes that prevented major injury or death. Auron lost the
use of his right eye that day, but many others of his Weyr
suffered lesser or greater injuries. Life was a new normal after
that, and while Auron didn't agree with everything his
bronzeriding compatriots said, he saw no reason to cause trouble
for the sake of causing trouble.
But upon gold Haloneth's hatching and her Impression to
Haurchefant, the worst of Benden emerged. The Weyr found itself
in an uproar, for Tradition was directly challenged with the
choice of the young queen, just as she'd challenged her mother's
prodding. Despite not being a Wingleader, Auron was a
bronzerider, and began hearing whispers from his fellow
bronzeriders. Schemes of putting Haloneth under permanent house
arrest except for flights or even forcing her to rebond floated
to Auron's ears, much to his disgust. This could not, nor would
not, come to pass. Taking action, he aided in organizing a group
of likeminded dragonriders and wherhandlers to leave the Weyr
with Haloneth, and he himself brought the news to Haurchefant,
along with the greenrider T'ani. Under cover of darkness, the
group of them escaped, Auron and Masamuth using what influence
left to them to ensure the placement of understanding
dragonriders on the watch roster, so they might depart
undetected and unchallenged until the dawn came.
While the journey over the sea was long and treacherous, the lot
of them landed on the Far Western Continent, and Auron could
release the breath he had held at last. While the path ahead of
them was difficult and fraught with hardship, he was certain the
worst of it was behind them. The settlement grew in size while
the mountain close at hand was prepared for dragons' residence,
and Auron and Masamuth both threw themselves into the work. At
last, everyone was settled in and safe in a new Weyr: Westwind
Weyr. But a Weyr needed a Weyrleader, and Haloneth was too young
to rise and decide the Weyrleader. When Haurchefant approached
Auron on the topic of Interim Weyrleader, Auron didn't hide his
surprise. Masamuth urged his bonded to accept the position, and
Auron did, after some time spent in thought. While he knew not
what lay ahead for all of them, he would do his duty to his Weyr
and guide them into times of stability and certainty.

BASICS
NAME: Masamuth
BIRTHPLACE: Benden Weyr
BIRTHDATE: Late Autumn 2590
AGE: 22 as of Late Summer 2612
APPEARANCE
LENGTH: 62 ft.
HEIGHT: 12.75 ft.
WINGSPAN: 84 ft.
COLOR: Bronze
TEXT COLOR: #9c7739
APPEARANCE:
A massive bronze, Masamunth is a fine specimen of both his
species and his color. While others are designed for speed or
agility, he is built for immense stamina and strength; a driving
force in the wing. In terms of his hide, Masamuth possesses a
hide as dark as midnight, highlighted with hints of that classic
bronze color.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Masamuth is a classic example when one thinks of a bronze
dragon. Masamuth sees himself as a superior leader, for it is
his place as a bronze to govern over the dragons of his Weyr and
lead them to greater heights. Always, he aspires to see himself
at the highest point the Weyr has to offer: standing tall upon
the Fireheights, Weyrleader in rank. Masamuth will lead those he
commands to prosperity and peace, or die in the process. And if
violence is a necessity before peace might fall upon them? So be
it.
To his bonded, Masamuth is a partner; nothing more. Perhaps time
would see them grow closer, as friends, but that is not the
primary objective. Beneath the surface, he is very intelligent,
and puts it to good use. Masamuth makes a fine tactician, good
at strategizing and devising the most efficient method to
execute this or that. Masamuth is filled with heart and passion,
even if he does not display it openly, and will always strive to
win at all he puts himself to accomplish.
VOICE: Masamuth's voice sounds firm and deep, with a hint of an
echo, like a mountain given voice.
