Traits and Mutations
By: Agenothree Date: June 14, 2022, 9:15 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
A man with hair as white as snow; a green dragon boasting a
wingspan most blues can only dream to possess... How could such
things be?
While each character and dragon/wher is unique and special in
their own right, a member can use traits and mutations to make a
character or dragon/wher stand out even more from the crowd.
Members can earn both traits and mutations through post prizes
or as prizes in other events and contests. The two levels of
traits and mutations available are minor and major. What's the
difference? What can be used for what?
No Trait Required
[li]Minor Scarring[/li]
[li]Minor Speech Impediments[/li]
[li]Tattooing (small-size or small area of coverage)[/li]
[li]Single Ear-Piercings[/li]
A trait is not required to create a fraternal or identical twin
tie, but the limit for making such ties is twice a month. If
this proves to be an issue, a trait will be required for all
future twin ties.
In addition, a trait is not required to create a Master Crafter
character, so long as there is reasonable explanation provided
in the character's history to warrant the Master rank and the
Master Crafter is not destined to be a dragonrider or
wherhandler.
Minor Traits
[li]Taller or Shorter than Standard Height Range*[/li]
[li]Tattooing (medium-size or large area of coverage)[/li]
[li]Non-Ear Piercings or Multiple Ear-Piercings[/li]
[li]Journeymen Crafters as
Dragonrider/Wherhandlers/Candidates**[/li]
* Men can be 5' 2"-7' with no trait; women can be 5'-6' 8" with
no trait
** Journeymen Healers and Journeymen Crafters destined to be
weyrfolk do not require a trait.
Major Traits
[li]Tattooing (large-size or huge area of coverage/full-body
tattooing)[/li]
[li]Multiple Non-Ear Piercings (large-scale piercings)[/li]
[li]Unusual Birth Traits (heterochromia, vitiligo, albinism,
etc.)[/li]
[li]Major Physical Disabilities (eg. disabilities that require
assistance to be given; missing limbs, visual/hearing defects,
etc.)[/li]
We will consider one major trait the equivalent of two minor
traits, so long as they are applied to the same character.
Please do not use major traits in this way more than twice per
month.
Banned Traits
[li]Mental Illness/Disorders[/li]
[li]God-Like Characteristics (applies to both humans and
dragons/whers)[/li]
[li]Off-Screen Non-Candidate Impressions & Re-Impressions[/li]
[li]Mastercrafters (eg. leaders of an entire Craft)[/li]
Please remember to be respectful in your portrayal of
disabilities, so as not to trigger or hurt anyone. We strive to
be an inclusive and welcoming community. If an issue comes to
light, we will apply additional restrictions and update members
of the change. Please do not apply multiple traits to one
character. When in doubt, don't hesitate to ask staff! On a
case-by-case basis, we will offer guidance as to what requires a
trait and what does not.
