9th Pass
2508-2558:
- [BN] Gold Ramoth hatches and Impresses to Lessa - Pern's
latest gold.
- Thread falls, after an Interval of 400 Turns. All Weyrs are
prepared to fight; to defend Pern.
- [BN] In a clutch of bronze Mnementh and gold Ramoth, a
mutation dragon hatches - white Ruth - and despite his need of
aid to escape his egg, he successfully Impresses to the young
Lord Jaxom.
- Shortly after Ruth's birth, the white mutation inexplicably
appears in whers and firelizards.
- After a full Pass, Thread abates and soon ceases. The next
Interval begins.
9th Interval:
2588-2610
- Pern enters a time of prosperity. Crops are plentiful and
herds thrive. Relations between Weyrs and Holds once considered
hostile ease, and trade flourishes.
- With F'lar and Lessa's efforts in Pern's favor, Benden rises
to be considered Pern's leading Weyr, with Fort as its
second...despite the Traditional ways of both Weyrs.
- Just as mysteriously as it had come, the white mutation
vanishes in whers, but persists in firelizards. Many
Traditionalists find relief at this occurrence.
- [Telgar] Several blues Impress to female Candidates.
- [Ista] A brown Impresses to a non-binary Candidate.

- [BN] Gold Haloneth hatches and rejects her dam's attempts to
steer her to bond to a female Candidate. Haloneth Impresses
Haurchefant - a man. The Weyr is in total uproar.
Traditionalists demand action be taken against the abnormal
goldpair.
- [BN] A small group of sympathetic dragonriders and
wherhandlers smuggle the young gold and her bonded, along with
some fretful Candidates, out of Benden; away from danger. The
endeavor is aided by sailor led by a kind Captain, who agrees to
provide safe passage for the goldpair and the wherhandlers,
escorted on the journey by dragonriders.
- [WW] The group finds themselves on the Far Western Continent,
far from harm...but far from home. Determined to make a way for
themselves, the dragonriders and wherhandlers form around
Haloneth, putting down roots and drawing up a small settlement.
- [WW] Resources dwindle quickly, even with the aid of the
sailors to bring in more supplies. Against all odds, Ista Weyr
offers their support - supplies, willing Crafters, even future
clutches.
- [WW] In the beginnings of winter, a gold wher (Task) runs and
selects a brown as her partner, and lays a healthy clutch of six
eggs. Two greens (Amphelisith and Carineath), who had not
previously taken firestone, rise in mating flight and each
select a brown to fly them, in the later months of winter. Both
lay healthy clutches, each containing six eggs.
- The clutch of Task and Tyrask hatch with no difficulty. One of
the six whers was a white - the first Pern has seen in Turns!

- [WW] A stable supply-line is established between Ista and the
settlement, with the sailors serving as supply-runners.
- [WW] Both Carineath and Amphelisith’s clutches hatch. All
twelve dragonets Impress successfully, most to the Candidates
that fled Benden with Haloneth.
- Telgar and Igen Weyr follow Ista's lead and begin to provide
minor aid to the blooming settlement in secret. While they
promise no clutches, the aid they provide is still invaluable.
- The Northern Continent is still in disarray at the Impression
and disappearance of the young queen Haloneth. Rumor and gossip
spread like wildfire, despite the attempts to contain it.
- Benden Weyr goes quiet and shuts its doors, leaving Pern to
fend for itself. Rumors continue spread like wildfire, nearing
the point of panic. What has come to Pern?
- [WW] The settlement declares that they are a Weyr, albeit a
small one, and take the name Westwind. As the one bonded to the
sole queen, Haurchefant is granted the position of "Weyrwoman,"
while other dragonriders and wherhandlers are selected to fill
other key positions. No contact has been made with other Weyrs,
other than Ista, Telgar, and Igen. Time will tell if Westwind
will reach out to other Weyrs. For now, all efforts are focused
on forming into a full fighting Weyr.

Summer
- [WW] All classes of wherlings and weyrlings graduate into the
newly-formed Wings and Squads. Westwind Weyr has its first Feast
in celebration, brimming with pride and joy for the new life
they've created here.
