APPEARANCE: Of a decent height for a young woman her age, Jamie
is... fairly pretty, but she'll deny it whenever you try to
compliment her. She has a penchant for wearing reds of all
shades, with the color seeming to compliment her the most. She
might be on the shorter side than her friends, but she stands
out in other ways than her height. Her pretty dark hair is cut
short to make things easier for her, and her strikingly
beautiful blue eyes sparkle when the light hits them just right.
Her skin is fair and unmarked, at least for now. She has rather
long, pretty eyelashes that, when batted, could capture your
heart... if she were to use them to this advantage. However, she
is as shy when it comes to romantic advances as she is soft and
beautiful.
[center]PERSONALITY[/center]
PERSONALITY: Jamie is a very soft, gentle soul. Always the first
to make a friend smile. She is a bit naive and childish, trying
to keep her spirits light and her friends happy. She is very,
very selfless, and will - regardless of the situation - put
everyone around her, before herself. 'So long as my friends are
happy, I'm happy', is a saying often said by this lass.
That being said, she is quite (rather, extremely) sensitive. The
poor lass wears her heart on her sleeve. Her emotions are a
primary driving force, though this has often steered her in a
less-than-desirable direction. Her ease with being controlled by
her emotions is perhaps one of her biggest flaws. If one of her
friends is hurt or upset, regardless of source, Jamie will
immediately be taking arms for their sakes. She is particularly
protective over them, and will fight for them. She's not a
violent person by any means, but once she's alerted to a friend
bring hurt... Faranth save the ones who hurt such precious
people.
For all her kindness, Jamie is also extremely energetic and
cheerful when surrounded by her friends. She loves humor, and
will, on occasion, make light of rather serious situations. This
isn't to say that she doesn't care that the situation is grim,
but she cannot stand sadness. At least... for her friends. Jamie
herself struggles with allowing herself to feel that same
happiness that she brings her friends. She'll often be down on
herself, even while lifting up her friends. She also struggles
with her self-esteem, to the point of worry for those who know
her best. While her friends are 'perfect people who deserve the
world', she can often be heard addressing herself as 'a dimmer
of their (her friends') light', 'a failure', and a great many
other things. She sees no worth in herself, while her friends
are nothing short of deserving of all the happiness in all of
Pern.
However, one might also note that even when she's overwhelmed by
her emotions, Jamie will refuse to sit still for too long. She
will, if she has to, force a smile on her face and push through
the day. She doesn't like to stop and let herself just... feel.
She needs to be kept on the move, and thanks to her newfound
bond as a Wherhandler, she'll never stop going!

HISTORY: TW: toxic family interaction, homophobia/refusal to
acknowledge pronouns/preference and orientation degradation,
mentions of verbal/emotional abuse
Jamie never knew her biological father. He was out of her life
before she took her first gulp of air. She was born as the
youngest of three children, with an older brother and an older
sister. Being the youngest, she was immediately doted upon by
her mother and stepfather, though it wasn't until much later
that she discovered the truth, that he wasn't the father she'd
believed him to be her whole life.
As a child, Jamie was very sweet, and very attached to her older
siblings. She was the youngest from her sister Carolyn by four
full Turns, and her brother Jonathan by two. The three of them
were inseparable. Wherever her siblings were, Jamie wanted to be
too. This was the reason that Jamie was distraught when Carolyn
Impressed and became a Rider after enlisting in Candidacy. It
took her away from the young girl, as Carolyn (later known as
C'lyn) was too busy with her training to play.
Next came Jonathan. He immediately enlisted in Candidacy the
moment he was able to, and Jamie felt her heart break. She began
to withdraw, having lost both of her greatest friends to their
duties as Weyrlings. They never had any time for her, and by the
time she was fourteen Turns, she had fallen into a state of
depression, though she did try to hide it.
With C'lyn and J'than busy, Jamie had to make friends elsewhere.
She did end up befriending a few of the younger children of
Benden Weyr, but they were, unbeknownst to her, not meant to
stay in her life forever. Upon turning seventeen, Jamie decided
that she would enlist in Candidacy, herself, though she chose a
path that was different from the one her elder siblings walked.
She wanted to become a Wherhandler, not a Rider, as she suffered
from severe acrophobia. The reason behind this fear was unknown;
she just feared heights with her whole self. But all her
attempts to earn the choice of a Wher clutchmother proved to be
unsuccessful, leading to a worsening of her depression. Her
siblings were too busy, slno wher chose her to bond with their
hatchlings... what was she to do? What hope did she have?
And to make matters worse, her mother was extremely disappointed
on the day she chose to come out as Demiromantic Asexual at
eighteen Turns of age. The moment she requested to be addressed
by the additional 'they/them' pronouns, her mother verbally
lashed out, degrading her daughter for this 'revolting'
decision. Nancy and James both cut off all ties with their
daughter. Jamie was left completely alone. Her siblings were too
busy to comfort her much, but instead of letting this be the end
of her, a new beginning would come for her, just one Turn later.
As expected, the news of Haloneth's Impression to Haurchefant -
a MAN - shook the entirety of Benden Weyr to its core. Though
she herself no longer kept contact with her parents, Jamie
overhead from her sister that their mother was fervently against
allowing Haloneth to ever rise, to ever be the queen that she
truly was. The news that her mother sided with the drastic
efforts to forever silence both Haloneth and Haurchefant,
infuriated Jamie and her siblings alike. And thus, they cut all
ties with the Weyr they called home and fled the second the
opportunity presented itself.
The moment they settled, it was like Jamie could breathe again.
The years of sadness, loneliness, and depression became
memories, ones that still haunted her, but were much easier to
bear. She came out of her shell, and by the time her 21st Turn
came around, she was as she is today. Tender, gentle, yet full
of life. She remained a Candidate, but was left Standing at the
newfound Westwind Weyr's first Wher clutch. It did upset her,
but she tried once more, determined to see her dream through.
Matters were certainly helped on the day she was chosen,
trusted, by Elask, and became the Wherhandler of the world's
very first, female Bronze wherlet, Amisk.

APPEARANCE:
Amisk is a very bright bronze, with brighter markings that cover
her body, like a migrating butterfly flock on a sparkly spring
wind. While about average size for a bronze wher, her real
kicker is not that she is just identifying as female.. she is
biologically female, the first in Westwind history and maybe
even beyond that.

PERSONALITY:
Amisk is a large ball of hyper energy packing into a dense wher
shape. She has trouble slowing down and takes off like lightning
bolt when she gets fired up. Getting her excited is
frighteningly easy and she just loves to socialize, not knowing
a stranger or strange wher or dragon. She loves her handler with
all her being and constantly seeks to bring them joy and lives
for the smiles. Reigning in her hyperactivity and getting her to
actually focus on a task.. will take some patience.
VOICE: Amisk has a very chipper and bubbly voice that just oozes
joy and energy, as if nothing can ever bring her down.
Why Jamie?: This is too good and you can't stop me. Have fun
with the energizer wher, she is Jamie's "problem" now.
