APPEARANCE: Aylee is a bit taller than average with fair skin
and hazel eyes. Her black hair is long and wavy and can get
quite messy at times, which is why she keeps them in two long
braids most days. She doesn't dress too flashy, mainly sticking
to rather monochrome colors with maybe a small pop of color here
and there and mostly she wears whatever is most functional. Long
pants and a long sleeve shirt are most common and rarely would
you find her without some sort of satchel over her shoulder.
It's pretty common to see some minor level of dirt by the end of
the day given her hobbies. Aylee doesn't mind really, clothes
can always be washed and dirt hardly hurt anyone.
[center]PERSONALITY[/center]
PERSONALITY:
One of Aylee's best traits is how observant they are, being
rather good at spotting small details or small movements even if
it happens towards the edge of her vision. It's difficult for
anything to escape her gaze, which definitely feeds into her
artistic side. Whether it be painting small canvases or quickly
drawing insects she finds, there is always a layer of dedication
and effort put into them. It helps that she is pretty active and
often has more energy than she can use in one day, which is good
as her sleep schedules are pretty strange and it's a guessing
game as to when they are awake.
Despite her high-energy nature, she tends to be quiet most of
the time and doesn't talk a lot unless someone gets her ranting
about one of her interests, which is pretty rare in itself. They
never know what to really do when talking with a stranger and
tend to be awkward with others in return. It doesn't help that
Aylee often tries to play dumb or act naive when speaking to
others a lot of the time. Her idea is that if others think she
is rather ditzy, their intentions will be more clear and she can
avoid causing disappointment in others when she easily surpassed
the dumb persona she fronts. A win-win situation.
Aylee of course isn't devoid of flaws and particularly is known
for being very reserved. They don't like to give out their
opinion willingly and rarely show their true personality without
some effort. They are often self-conscious about the reactions
they could get from being too honest, even despite the more open
air of Westwind. Saying nothing personal and keeping to the
background outright avoids that possibility and for her, it's
the best way to cope. She is easily discouraged to make this
habit worse, struggling to get into new activities or make
friends if she has a bad first experience.

HISTORY:
TW - Death/Loss and Problems w/ Self Worth
Aylee was the second child to be born to Rebecca and Aymar, a
pair of farmers who already had a 3-year-old son named Aymeric.
The first few years of her life were nothing out of the
ordinary, but unfortunately, she'd never gain the pleasure of
really getting to know her father.
She was so young when it happened that she can't really recall
from her own memories how the fire went down nor the death of
her father. All she knows is what she has been told by her
mother and brother, which was that a pair of bronze dragons had
been fighting over the queen gold's flight and when they hit a
building, some stray coals from the fire ignited the dry fields.
Aylee, Aymeric, and their mother had gotten out fine when the
fire reached their house while their father ran back into the
burning building for their dog. Sadly neither were able to make
it back out in time.
Aylee is understandably upset that she never got to really make
memories with her father and it did cause a lot of fears when
her mother fell for Reordan some years later. The two would end
up getting married and soon after have a son named Reoric. She,
still only being 6 and not knowing better, felt like she would
be replacing Aymar with her stepfather if she got attached and
also didn't think Reordan would see her or Aymeric the same way
as their younger brother. However, her fears would be soothed
with time and she came to accept that there was nothing wrong
with having a bond with her stepfather, especially when he was
determined to raise them as though they were his own.
From then on they continued on with their lives and Aylee really
tried to find out what her own interests were as time went on.
She quickly got interested in insects during this time and, on
more than one occasion, had to be told to not bring bugs into
the house and avoid coming home covered in dirt or mud. One
thing led to another and she found herself drawing and studying
insects more and more, sometimes not coming home until way later
in order to focus on getting her artwork perfected. It wasn't a
skill she shared very often, mostly speaking to her brothers
about it and maybe someone her age here and there. A lot of
people didn't really get why she found insects fascinating when
she could be excited about something important, such as
impressing to a dragon or wher like many others her age dreamed
about.
It only really got worse as she enrolled in dragon candidacy to
follow in Aymeric's footsteps. Another candidate had made fun of
how it made 'sense' a farmer's daughter would be interested in
such a useless activity instead of actually preparing to be a
dragonrider. Aylee was never a very strong-willed person, so she
just started to hide what she did and more so became a loner in
the crowds to avoid it happening again. She admired that Aymeric
could seemingly brush off the comments about their background,
while they stuck like glue for her. It didn't help that she was
starting to question her identity either, making her more
fearful of too much attention.
The only solution for her was to just accept it really, playing
stupid since they already made up their minds about her. It
isn't the best solution to cope, but it felt so much better to
act naive and be expected to fail, as there was no risk of
disappointment and she could only surpass the expectations of
others. It was also why Whers caught her attention, as she both
really loved drawing moths and the idea of being able to have
her work duties focused on during the night was really
appealing. So, the moment she turned 17, she enrolled in Wher
candidacy as well.
More time passed from then and she tried to hope her brother
would soon impress, knowing how much he wanted to have a dragon
of his own. Instead, something much more shocking happened, a
gold dragonet had impressed to a man by the name of Haurchefaut
and the Weyr was acting as though it was the end of the world.
It felt so strange to her, not really understanding what the big
deal was given dragons did impress to those that they need, but
thankfully the rest of her family also didn't understand it
either.
Her brothers and parents all agreed the responses to Haloneth's
choice were flat-out cruel. The moment they found out a group
was leaving with the pair, it seemed each of them agreed they
should follow. The Weyr was not what it held itself to be and,
admittedly, Aylee was excited at the thought of getting away
from those that scorned her and Aymeric's background of being
farmers.
So, they took the dive and found themselves now living within
Westwind Weyr, their new home and where they would grow a new
and better path in life. Aymeric, much to Aylee's excitement,
even managed to bond to a blue. She was so worried about her
brother's bonded with how weak the blue seemed at the hatching,
but she wasn't surprised. It was just like him to help the weak
hatchling and she thought it was sweet that Sorroth had
impressed to him after.
As for herself, she still has remained very reserved and hasn't
had any impressions to a wher nor dragon. Instead, she's chosen
to try and investigate how different the insect life was there
compared to their old home and continue to focus on her art,
making more journals and small painted pieces, particularly of
moths and butterflies. She also very recently let it be known to
her family that she identifies as a demigirl, feeling the label
is much more fitting.
She's always had thoughts that she isn't the most fitting
candidate. Aylee wants to hold some hope something will change
soon to prove that false though, especially as whers play a
bigger part in Westwind. They don't need to be special, they
don't want that at all, but Aylee feels like if she impresses a
Wher or Dragon then she'd be able to finally feel understood.
They know Elask is having a clutch soon based on rumors, so
she's been keeping it in her mind. At least she can find some
caterpillars to raise and keep her company while she finds her
place in Westwind.

bonded is quite the spectacle; a sanguine wherlet named Aylesk
with a dazzling pink hide, the first of her color in

APPEARANCE:
Aylesk is a very bright and vibrant deep pink color, dusted with
pastel pink sparkles. Her legs, head, and tail all have markings
that resemble a wreath of roses around them in the same shade of
pastel pink. Her most striking marking is that of a large pink
lotus on both her thighs. Her color is the first emergence of a
wher of this kind in Westwind history and its of little surprise
that such an anomaly would be from the gene pool of Elask.
[center][size=18pt]PERSONALITY[/SIZE][/center]
PERSONALITY:
Aylesk is a wher with a lot of love to give. She is warm,
affectionate and very sweet. To her handler, Aylesk would do
anything for their approval, for their love and that means
ANYTHING. A lover of nature and the outdoors, she loves to run
outside and bury her nose into flowers, even if it's met with
sneezing fits. While she is open and loving to her handler, she
is absolutely terrified of those she does not know and will
attempt to hide behind her handler. She also tends to butt heads
with the stronger willed -sk and will stubbornly stomp her feet
if forced to interact with him.
Aylesk does have a bit of a penchant for being melodramatic when
she hurts a foot or has any kind of physical malady and will
yowl as if her world is ending. She also will have a drive to
work herself into a frenzy and drain her energy if not reigned
in a bit. This is a wher that is a lot to handle.. but very
loyal and loving.. she just needs a chance.
VOICE: With a voice as soft and soothing, yet ladylike and
gentle, Aylesk often has trouble being heard.. unless she is
upset.
Why Aylee?: Aylesk will hopefully help Aylee come out of their
shell a bit more and Aylesk needs the stable love and
encouragement that Aylee could bring her.
