As soon as Michael thought he couldn’t hear any more voices he
almost crawled out of the bubble on his hands and knees, not
sure if his legs would support him. He cautiously glanced
around, making sure no one was around before mustering all of
his strength and sprinted towards the forest. He hoped the rain
would hide him from prying eyes and mask his running footsteps.
He didn't bother taking the horse with him, the damn thing would
only slow him down any way. Besides, he probably had enough
adrenaline pumping through his veins right now to make it all
the way back to his own guild hall.
The mud was slippery beneath his boots, but nothing he couldn't
handle. Growing up in the slums, with nothing but cobbled
streets, always wet with something or other, this was almost
like a walk in the park.
He kept running, a strong urge to put as much distance between
him and the bubble as possible. He thought he had put all of
that sh*t behind him, but no. The image of the trunk now clear
in his mind, something he hadn't thought about for years, and he
shuddered. Apparently, he had only buried it and not deep enough
it seemed. Well, he should have done a better job of pressing it
down, Zargo would have flipped out if he had seen him, sitting
in the mud like a scared child. Saying he was getting weak,
sloppy, a failure, a... D*mn it!
He slipped on something and stumbled, falling face first in a
puddle of, hopefully, only mud. He lay there, lungs burning and
tears threatening to fall, trying to catch his breath. He slowly
rose to his feet and spit out a mouthful of mud. He had to get a
grip and calm down, this was ridiculous. Zargo was half-way
across the kingdom, probably sitting in a brothel, smoking
something less than legal, with two or three girls swarming
around him, and would only care if Michael didn't bring back
some results. He wiped the mud from his eyes as best he could
and started walking again, trying to organise his thoughts.
He had to pay back the wild cat for saving his sorry *ss and try
to find some way to get some dirt to show Zargo to get him of
his back. He had a pretty good idea of who the crest might have
belonged to, but he needed to make sure his suspicion was
correct first. He had ditched Syrena back there, but he would be
able to find her again later, later when he actually had
something worth sharing.
It felt like he had walked for an eternity when he finally
spotted another building up ahead. Hoping it wouldn't be another
hideout he cautiously approached. The rain had not let up, so at
least he would probably not be spotted immediately if he was
wrong. The sign outside read "The happy frog". Good enough.
Michael threw open the door and stumbled in.
-A room and something strong to go with that, please.
By the terrified look of the barmaid he looked like sh*t. He
tried to give her a reassuring smile but that only seemed to
scare her more. He sighed invardes and dug up a few silver coins
and placed them on the counter.
-A room... Please?
Suddenly, he apparently was not as scary as before.
-The weather's terrible, so if it's not too much to ask, could I
please have a bath prepared?
He put down one more silver coin to make sure it would and
smiled at the girl.
-Maybe you’ll even join me?
The barmaid who had come to collect the coins gave him a faked
gasp of surprise and lightly smacked his arm as to he was being
out of line. Mabe if he didn't have mud dripping from his hair
and clothes he could have had some luck, now.. Not a chance.
-The bath will be ready in half an hour sir, how about i pour
you that drink while you wait, hm?
-Sounds wonderful, darling.

Syrena tried her best not to grit her teeth too much as she
stood outside the only inn she could find closeby. She had
walked for almost the rntire day amd since she didn't want to
deplate her magic energy she'd let herself get soaked. She was
wet, tired and hungry and was questioning her lifechoices as she
pushed the door open. The place was kind of small but there were
a few travelers along the bar and scattered around the tables.
She left the hood of her cloak up when she approached the
counter to speak to the barmaid who was busy serving ale to a
couple men. The woman smiled at her when she tilted her head
back enough for her to see she was a woman too before she spoke
softly.
- Do you serve dinner here by any chance?
- Yes, of course. Would you like for me to get you some?
- Yes please. And some information, if you have it.
The barmaid got a curious look when Syrena sat down on one of
the barstools.
- I'm looking for a young man. About a head taller than me,
copperish brown hair, pretty blue eyes? He might have passed
here earlier today.
The woman seemed surprised as her eyes darted to the far edge of
the counter and Syrena spared no time in following her gaze, a
smirk appearing when she recognized the sorry mess tryin not to
drip mud into his drink.
- I'll eat with him.
The woman blinked at her, appearing as if she wanted to object
but nodded finally and disappeared towards the kitchen to get
her food. Syrena let the hood drop while she walked up to the
sorry lass, leaning on the counter next to him with a playful
smile.
- Shithead seems like a very fitting nickname for you.

Michael turned at the sound of the familiar voice and put down
his drink. He smirked at Syrena, both surprise and curiosity
written across his face.
-Well, well, fancy seeing you here, wild cat. Not looking too
well yourself there, a bit like a drenched kitten to be honest.
Though to be honest, I thought you'd kick back and relax, you
know, after a job well done and all that?
He took another sip of his drink and peered at her over the mug.
-Didn’t think you'd come all the way here just to see me.
Awfully sweet of you though.
He couldn't help teasing her, she was hot headed for a water
mage and all too fun to tick off, but he was honestly intrigued
by what business she had with him if she even decided to track
him down in the pouring rain.

Syrena scowled and sat down on the chair next to him before
leaning her chin in one hand.
- Stop calling me that.
She glared at him then smirked.
- I recall you being perfectly capable of pronouncing my name,
dimwit. You said it twice if I remember correctly. As for why I
tracked you down..
She lifted her second hand, holding her fist in the air for e
couple seconds before the necklace suddenly fell down from it,
twirling gently.
- You said you recognize it. Since I saved your sorry ass you
owe me. Take me to the noble it belongs to.
She gave him a cold calculating look but brightened when the
barmaid returned with her food. She left the necklace on the
counter and happily took a sip of the ale.
- Damn, that's good!

Michael clenched his jaw but tried to play it off nonchalantly
by cocking an eyebrow at her instead.
-But you find it annoying, and I in turn find that more
entertaining, and that's all that matters to me.
He raised both eyebrows when she showed him the necklace, he
hadn't expected her to have it with her, or show it to him for
that matter. He quickly glanced at her before gently picking up
the pendant and studying it. It was an exquisite piece of
jewellery, with two griffins facing eachother on the front, and
what looked to be a rose in the middle. Studying the crest more
closely, Michael was now even more certain that he was right
about which family the crest belonged to, but what connections
they had with the old goat was still unclear.
-Well, aren't you the impatient kind, wild cat? It's not that-
He was interrupted by the barmaid who brought Syrena's food and
then turned to him.
-Your bath is ready now, sir.
-Thank you darling, I'll be with you in a minute.
The barmaid scoffed at him.
-Ain't nobody gonna accompany you nowhere looking like that,
they are. Your room is through the door over there and then the
second to your right. Soap and towels are next to the tub.
-Appreciate it sweetheart.
Michael winked at the girl before he stood up and emptied his
mug. He glanced at Syrena and couldn’t hide a smirk.
-Look here, hot shot, I would love to help you out here, i
really do. But I'm tired, drenched, and in desperate need of a
bath. Sure, I might recognise the crest and I might be indebted
to you, but I won't be doing anything before I've had my
long-awaited bath. No favours, no debt paying, no nothing.
He tilted his head to the side, a cocky smile on his lips.
-But if you think that you can coax anything out of me before
tomorrow, you are more than welcome to try. You know where to
find me.
With that, he picked up his satchel and headed for his room and
his awaiting bath.

Syrena didn't say anything while he clearified he wouldn't help
her before tomorrow. She simply chewed a piece of bread and
studied him silently, noticing he still held the pendant. He was
probably too dumb to notice it himself. She gave him a small
wave with her hand as if his little suggestion had gone way over
her head, however she simply wasn't sure if he was he best bet
for the night. Sure he was cute and all but was she ready to
deal with the physical intimacy when he was such a dick in
personality already? She watched him leave and returned to her
dinner casually. As soon as she was finished she gave the men in
the room a quick runover before deciding the jerk was the most
interesting one by far and since she'd probably have to spread
her legs to sleep for free anyway she figured she might as well
go see if he was man enough to back up his suggestion. She gave
the barmaid a silvercoin for the food before heading towards his
room. Without knocking she stepped inside and casually threw her
bag on the floor before removing her drenched coat and hanging
it over the back of a chair. She then turned towards the bath
with a playful smile.
- Mind if I join you?
While she asked she started to slowly open the straps keeping
the tight dress in place, letting her breasts bounce free.

As soon as Michael had reached his room he had undressed, almost
everything he wore was covered in mud or otherwise dirty and
wet, and it felt nice to finally be rid of the clothes. He
glanced around the room, it was nothing too fancy, but after
living at a monastery for a month and then sleeping out in the
open for a few days, it felt like it was made for a king. The
bed was big enough to comfortably fit two people and had what
looked like an actual mattress. There was a small closet that he
would have a look at later, incase of forgotten or hidden items,
a small table and a pair of chairs to go with it. The bathroom
was bigger than he anticipated, with a large bathtub to his
left, a washbasin in one corner and a bucket of clean water in
the other, no doubt for washing clothes. He quickly washed his
dirty clothes in the bucket and hung them to dry before heading
towards the bathtub. Before getting in the bath, he checked
himself in the little mirror that was resting next to the
washbasin and winced. No wonder everyone had looked terrified,
he looked like a f*cking troll, with mud smeared all over his
face and hair. He washed away as much dirt as he could, before
finally getting to sit down in the bath. He let out a content
sigh as the warm water surrounded him, this was heavenly and
exactly what his exhausted body needed.
A couple of minutes later he could hear someone entering the
room, but didn't bother checking, perhaps one of the maids had
changed her mind? Only once he herd her voice did he open his
eyes to look at her in surprise. Syrena was the last one he
thought would walk through that door. This... This had not gone
quite as expected. Sure, she was hot, he would even go so far as
to say extremely hot, and he would have liked for her to join
him, but he didn't think she'd actually follow up on his offer,
she had seemed a bit too much of a prude to do so. That was,
apparently, not the case. Play it cool, play it cool, open your
d*mn mouth and say something instead of just staring you idiot.
-Sure ting wild cat, there's more than enough room. Though I do
have to warn you. The clientele here is mostly dirty street
rats, so hope you're alright with that.
He watched her enter the bath, feeling certain parts of him
starting to stir at the view she gave him. By the humoured glint
in her eyes the entire show on purpose just to mess with his
head.
-Thought you hated my guts? And now you're willing to even share
a bath with me?
He grinned at her.
-My, my, I do hope you at least came for the room and not just
because you missed me, since I don't think I could perform to
your liking, wild cat.

Syrena removed all clothes and climbed in the bath sitting
opposite the jerk and getting comfortable before answering. She
had dealt with enough streetrats before to know when she
actually met one and despite the jerks attitude he had a lot
more respect towards others than most streetrats did. Not that
she gave a cr*p sinc she was quite certain he had no idea how
strong she actually was. Most people got that part wrong by
thinking she was a watermage when in fact she was not.
- I haven't paid for a room in years and don't plan on starting
now. Since the rest of the men here seemed sixty plus I figured
if anyone's going to perform it'll be you. I do indeed hate your
guts but a girl's gotta eat.
She cocked an eyebrow at him, then spoke again.
- Besides, you took my trinket so I'm simply guarding it.
She lifted a leg and placed her foot on his chest with a playful
smirk.
- Listen up, dipshit. I want to know what guild you're working
for. What you get to play with depends on your answer. Wrong
answer and you're not getting anything, a good one and I'll do
everything for you. Sound fair to you?
She tilted her head while her foot traveled a little lower,
stopping right before reaching his dick. She wanted to see him
squirm but she was fairly certain he wouldn't let himself stoop
that low. He hadn't backed down on any earlier instances either
but she hadn't tried anything sexual before. Still, she was
surprised he'd actually humbled himself enough to tell her he
might not perform to her liking. Honestly, as long as he had a
dick and it could stand it didn't really matter to her. Men
didn't know sh*t about pleasing a woman and most didn't even
bother to try so she usually just let them do their thing so she
could go to sleep on their expense. Either that or use her
siren's call to lull them so they'd leave her alone, busy
dreaming about her instead. She had to admit she wouldn't mind
finding out what he could do in bed though. The jerk was well
buildt and if he decided to physically dominate her, he could.
Until she used magic, obviously, but still, the thought was
entertaining and she was kind of hoping he'd spit out something
good so she could fu*k him since his blue eyes had some sort of
magnetic attraction to them that, annoyingly enough, made her
want to moan his name. That, however, was not going to happen
before the jerk actually told her what it was and she had to
focus not to glare at him when she thought about that.

Michael nodded at her statement. He could respect that. She was
not the first nor the only one to do anything to survive, he
would know. When she mentioned the necklace he just smirked at
her.
-Oh, that old thing? Thought I'd keep it safe for you, from you
know, thieves and other delinquents. Heard that some might be in
the area... You know... Thieving.
His breathing got heavier and he swallowed hard when she let her
foot travel downward. His body was betraying him and he had to
concentrate hard not to turn into a drooling mess, and only
partially succeeding. He had to take a few breaths before he got
his treacherous body back under control and cocked an eyebrow at
her.
-What I get to play with, you say? And you would do...
Anything..?
He lifted his hand and let it run along her leg that was planted
on his stomach, gently massaging it. He could feel the
goosebumps on her skin even though her eyes displayed hostility
still.
- Somehow, I doubt that, wild cat. You don't really seem like
the... Submissive kind...
Michael had a hard time not smiling at her.
-But, whatever could you possibly mean mylady? Me, working for a
guild? I'm but a humble novice munk named Elias, surely you have
mistaken me for someone else? I'm not from any guild, I'm just a
farmer's boy. Mah' Ole' Pa' works the King's fields near- Ouch!
He couldn't help but laugh even though she had dug her heel in
pretty hard.
-Okay, okay, fine! I was just messing with you! By the gods
you're an impatient one, aren't you wild cat? The guild I'm
working for is The Golden Blades. Quite famous for some of the
bloodiest crimes in the kingdom. Maybe you've heard of us?
He tilted his head to the side, eyes glittering with pent up
laughter. He could see she was surprised by it, even though she
tried to hide it well.
-Not what you expected, I take it? Don't worry, no one does.
He adjusted his position and leaned back and closed his eyes. He
could still feel her eyes trying to burn a hole in his head and
he lazily opened one eye to peer at her.
-Not to your liking wild cat?

Re: A bloody necklace

Syrena tried her best not to kick his head or balls and only
shove her heel in when he tried to stall. Why was he playing
games? She tried listing possible guilds in her head but The
Golden Blades was not on her list and it took her by surprise.
Why the fu*k did an assassin work with finding dirt on old
geezers? It explained the skilled throatslitting he did though
but he might be a lot more dangerous than she initially thought.
Any sane woman would get out of there but she couldn't quite
bring herself to do it. Besides, she had a very powerful magic
on her side so no matter what he tried she could stop him from
actually harming her. She watched him lean his head back while
she contemplated her options. She could play his game and have a
fun night or she could play her own game and have a fun night.
The difference was if she did the first thing, which was more
tempting, her master would woop her ass so hard she wouldn't be
able to sit for weeks. Then again.. Her eyes traveled over the
jerk taking in every visible detail. Damn, he was tempting. She
brought her foot a bit higher again, stroking his skin gently
while the water moved around her.
- Whoever told you I was submissive lied trough his teeth. That
being said, for someone who's heard of me you clearly only
listened to the witch part, 'Elias', not the siren part.
She chuckled a little before taking her foot down and sitting up
so she could lean closer, bringing the full brests forward to be
on better display.
- 'Elias'..You sure that's what you want me moaning all night,
golden boy?
Twisting her legs under her she reched forward, placing a hand
on his chest while she smoothly moved closer before leaning down
on him, resting her her arms on his shoulders. Her master would
be pissed but she didn't want to think about that old fleebag at
the moment since she got acutely aware of the strong muscles
under her and a friend who wanted to join the party. She didn't
want to admit that she was impressed by him but her body kind of
gave that away anyway by molding against him. She had no desire
to be putty in his hands but she had to concentrate hard not to
get ahead of herself and really push him. His name really could
be Elias but the way he said it made her doubt him. Then again
he was a man and men have ego so she was fairly certain he
wouldn't want to hear the woman he was fucking cry out the name
of another.
- Elias..
She gave him a playful smile before leaning forward, letting her
lips softly brush against his jaw and trailing down to his neck
where she whispered the name again, making sure her hot breath
fanned against his neck before licking his skin. She could feel
him shudder at the contact and tried her best not to smirk since
he'd feel it. If he'd only spit out his real name already.
