Lilyheart sat atop the Highbranch, looking down upon her
empty camp. Excitement sparkled in her eyes, this was the 'new'
ValleyClan, as the old one had been destroyed by a cat named Red
and a fire had taken the territory and most cats with it. She
had been Lily then, but had now taken the name she had always
been destined to have, Lilyheart.
A battle of love had raged with her in the old territory,
but she had lost to a she-cat named Blueberry. Lilyheart's belly
was heavily weighed, her kit's were due to come any day now. She
sighed and again looked at the camp. Sorrow for the cats in the
old ValleyClan had worn her down and the wounds were fresh.

Ravenstar padded into the camp, his tail dragged and his eyes
were clouded. The strong looking black tom had come back from a
hunt and was carrying two mice, but he couldn't be happy.

Lilyheart looked down at her paws when Ravenstar padded in. Her
heart raced wildily, she awkwardly flicked her tail. "Good
morning Ravenstar," she called a greeting to the leader with a
sad smile. Lilyheart leap from the tree and looked for
Crystalheart. Crystalheart still treated her regularly, before
she stepped into the warriors den, Lilyheart turned and padded
into the nursery instead to see the kits. Silverkit and
Timberkit were getting older and bigger, soon they would be
apprentices. She sat in front of their nest and smiled at the
kits. "Hey guys," she purred.

Ravenstar flicked his tail to show he had heard her, he dropped
his catch on the fresh-kill pile and sighed.
Crystalspirit smiled at her. "Hello," she meowed happily before
padding into the warriors den.
Silverkit jumped to her paws. "Hi!"
Timberkit smiled. "Hi!"

Bramblerain padded into the clearing and flicked Wishpaw
playfully with her tail. Wishpaw smiled and began to chase it.

"You're not a kit," Bramblerain smiled. They were quiet for a
moment. Then they burst out laughing. "I have to sort herbs!"
Wishpaw choked out through bursts of laughter. "Mouse Brain,"
Bramblerain giggled.

Lilyheart purred, "You two are growing bigger by the day." Love
and affection chased all the sadness from her eyes. It was all
smoldered by a glow of laughter at memories. "Soon you guys'll
become apprenticed and share a den with Wishpaw." Lily loomed
mewed and licked both of their heads.
Fernsong padded out of her den. She smiled when she saw her
apprentice and Bramblerain play. "Actually, can you two go
collect some rosemary, lavender and catnip for me? I'd save me
time. Oh! Add thyme to that list." The fawn she-cat flicked her
tail in thanks and padded to Ravenstar.

Ravenstar looked at Fernsong, the sleek black tom blinked calmly
as he tried to hide his sorrow. "Hello."
Crystalspirit sat down in her nest to groom her fur. (Awww I
just noticed that her mate must be gone..Ashfur..She's lonely
now.)
Timberkit jumped at Silverkit, the two kit's rolled around
playfully.
Silverkit squealed happily as she pushed her 'brother' over.
(They are like brother sisters, because Silverkit and
Timberkit's mothers are both gone.)

Lilyheart laughed and left the den to padd to Crystalspirit. She
flicked her friend on the ear and settled down beside her.
Crystalspirit had recently lost a mate, and Lilyheart understood
what it felt like. Hot, searing pain in your heart whenever you
though of the old days. You couldn't breathe sometimes at night,
claws of fear held you tight and painful memories grasping at
your dreams. It was haunting.
Fernsong tsked when she saw Ravenstar's condition. "You need to
get over the loss of her, Ravenstar, I know you loved her very
much, but Blueberry is gone now. You need to focus on the things
more important now." Fernsong stepped aside to reveal the
nursury and Lilyheart. "Your kit's in there, and a cat who has
always longed for your love is waiting for you. You haven't
bother to even speak with Lily-Lilyheart, in moons."
