Ouchie! A thorn!

Rainbowpaw winced. "There's a thorn in my paw, " she complained
to Flamepelt.

Flamepelt grinned at Rainbowpaw as she spoke and nodded. "This
is an easy one," the medicine cat purred, a smile on his maw.
"Hold out your paw and keep it steady, Rainy," he told her, an
eye on the sharp thorn protruding from the apprentice's paw.
Sympathy filled him as he saw the largeness of it, and he became
even more determined to remove it as soon as possible. He hated
thorns, the pesky things. In fact, they were like burrs, small,
painful, and utterly annoying.

She wiggled it around while trying to keep it still.

Flamepelt took the fat thorn in his strong jaws and yanked,
falling backwards with his bloody prize, which he spat out.
"Stay, I'm going to get some herbs and cobweb for that,"
Flamepelt told Rainbowpaw before trotting to his herb store and
removing marigold and cobwebs, the simplest herbs. He scooted
over to Rainbowpaw and spat a chewed pulp of marigold onto her
open thorn wound and secured it in place, wrapping cobwebs
tightly around the whole paw. "Stay off of it until I say you
can walk on it again and come back every day so I can change the
ointment and pulp." The medicine cat ordered with a friendly
smile.

"Ok," she smiled happily. She couldn't wait to get the thorn out
of her paw.
