Wild eyes tribe.
Timeline of major events of the tribe.
21 October 2077, Arizona.
A group of five-hundred men and five-hundred women entered in
the Painted Desert U.S.A. bunker, built on General
Harrison’s request to make other shelters for the
population instead of using only the Vaults; the bunker was
equipped with some Vault-tec technologies such as a water
processing system, an automatic food maker and all the comforts
they needed to survive the bombs and some years inside the
bunker.
No one believed that the Nuclear War could happen so soon, so,
not every man and woman reached the bunker in time, preferring
to stay at their respective houses instead of finding shelter
there, eventually the bombs fell, and the Nuclear War started,
destroying everything in the earth in less than two hours.
After the destruction of the world the men and the women in the
bunker began to build a small community, with laws, rules,
works, and a leader: General Harrison.
The General always believed in the dream to rebuild a new world
on the ashes of the old one, but he knew that to make this dream
come true he had to train his community how to fight and survive
in difficult conditions, plus, he had to keep the Old World
knowledge alive, using the help of some of his man and some
empty rooms to build a school and some libraries for everyone,
making learning an official rule inside the bunker and even
fining who didn’t want to visit the library for at least
one hour a day.
After two months, the Painted Desert bunker already was a
thriving community, everyone was happy, everyone was safe, and
the technologies used made life more easier. Life was perfect
but the General wanted more, he wanted to take a peek at the
outside world, he wanted to continue is dream to rebuild a new
civilization, but the radiation level was still to high to send
someone exploring the wastelands…
1 January 2090, Arizona.
General Harrison decides to send a small group of soldiers
outside in the wasteland to explore the surroundings, the
bunker’s door opened after thirteen years and the patrol,
equipped with a good amount of medical equipment, ammo, food and
weapons, went out starting to explore the New World, discovering
its dangers and its news.
Three days after the patrol returned, they started the mission
in ten, only two and half of them returned, Harrison was angry
for the reports: contaminated supplies, mutated animals,
dangerous humans and nearly no other living communities, it was
too soon to go out, he decided to close the doors another time,
not opening them again for another twenty years.
6 May 2112, Arizona.
During the night of that day Harrison died by infarct at the age
of 77, everyone in the bunker mourned him, another citizen, Paul
Grant, took his place, continuing the General’s projects
on the trainings and the teachings, not sharing his dreams on
colonizing the outside world tough.
Some weeks after Grant’s election a group of citizens
started to ask to continue Harrison’s projects on
exploring the wasteland, Paul refused, answering that the place
was too dangerous and deadly to be habitated again and that the
bunker was big enough for everyone, there was no need to go out
and expand outside.
Eventually, a week later, the group became a faction, they
started propaganda against Paul Grant, claiming that he faked
the election results and that he wasn’t the leader that
the bunker needed. The chief of this anti-Grant group, Jonas
Dillon, started to quickly gather new followers inside the
community, the citizens of the place soon began to think that
there would have been a civil war soon, and they were right.
8 June 2112, Arizona.
At the early hours in the morning a group lead by Dillon
attacked Grant’s office and his followers starting a civil
war that made the community fall into chaos, the two factions
fought for days shooting at each other trough corridors, halls
and rooms, many men from both sides died during the fights and
some of the bunker’s technologies and rooms were destroyed
because of the battle. Eventually the “rebel”
faction managed to win over Grant’s group, however, the
prize of the victory was worse than the loss: the community
fell, the bunker was half destroyed and another threat was going
to appear…
5 August 2113, Arizona.
One year later after the civil war Dillon was still the leader
of the bunker. Under his command the bunker soon fell into a
“Dark Era” where people were more interested in
exploring (and, since they had nearly no experience, dying) in
the wasteland instead of actually trying to rebuild the bunker
or simply following the old General’s rules to keep alive
the Old World’s knowledge.
The 5 August 2113 one of the new technicians of the bunker
ignorantly deleted some important files from the command
computer, disabling the F.O.F. (Friendly or foe) targeting
system of the guard robots, making them attack everyone who was
on sight.
Another war happened, the robots soon killed half of the
remaining population in the bunker, but anyway the citizens
managed to shut down their systems from the main computer,
however, by doing this they disabled every other technology in
the building, leaving no power to the lights, to the food maker,
to the water processing system and completely sealing the door,
dooming the remaining survivors.
2 October 2113, Arizona.
Two months inside the unpowered bunker made most of the citizens
go insane, the scarcity of food and water forced them to feed
upon the corpses of their brothers, fathers and children. Jonas
Dillon was still alive, but depressed, he felt that the
bunker’s death was his fault, so, in one last act of
bravery, he ordered the evacuation of the building, gathering
every survivor in front of the main doors and reactivating the
main computer before getting killed by the reactivated robots.
The survivor opened the doors, running outside with the few
supplies they managed to take from the bunker, they went towards
the nearby town of Snowflake, building a small camp near it and
starting a new life outside in the wasteland.
2 February 2114, Arizona.
Raiding caravans, killing innocents wastelanders wildly
destroying everything they met, this was the survivors main
activity, everyone went crazy after what happened in the bunker
and their cannibalism didn’t help them to stay sane, this
madness continued for some months after one man, Thomas
Darkwater, took the command of the survivors, making them
something better than just a dying group of raiders, turning
them into the Wild Eyes Tribe.
Thomas Darkwater followed his predecessor’s teachings,
ideals and even names to build the tribe culture and society,
making the survivors a intelligent, religious, community of
tribals.
Their beliefs was that everything was made by three divinities:
Knowledge (inspired by General Harrison), the Blood God (created
to justify the survivors cannibalism) and the Forbidden God of
Technology (or simply Forbidden, inspired by Jonas Dillon and
the survivor’s fear of technology), those three gods gave
life to them, helping the tribals to survive and escape from the
bunker and live safely in the wasteland, plus, it helped Thomas
to justify the tribe’s hunger for human flesh, to turn
them into knowledge seekers again (like they were back in the
bunker) and to avoid the abuse of technology, one of the reasons
of the old community’s fall.
Their society was like every other tribe, simple, with
pre-defined roles: the tribe’s men had to hunt for meat,
fight for the tribe and do heavy jobs while the women had to
stay at their homes, teaching to their children pre-war
knowledge, looking after them and making sure they would grow
sane, healthy and prepared to be the ones who would have to
continue the tribe’s life.
The children had to stay at the village, learning and training
for their Initiation Rite: made to mark their adolescence from
their adultness, it consisted going out in a big hunt, killing
an enemy and eat his heart, who survived would have returned to
the village to be celebrated, who died would have considered
weak and left to rot in the wasteland.
18 June 2114, Arizona.
The Wild Eyes tribe encounters another tribe, the Blackfoot
tribe, a raiding group made from USA deserters, the two tribes
quickly started a relationship of mutual help, trading
resources, supplies and even slaves between them.
The tribe starts to expand, their village almost covers all
Snowflake and some outposts around the area are built to make
raiding and hunting easier.
9 January 2117, Arizona.
The Wild Eyes tribe meets other raiding groups, they enter in
war with one of them, the Desert Looters, starting a series of
small battles across the wasteland, near other settlements and
outposts. Thomas Darkwater dies at the age of forty-five because
of a enemy sniper but the Wild Eyes will eventually win and wipe
off the Looters after five years of war.
30 May 2123, Arizona.
The tribe, under the leadership of a new Elder, Francis Drakus,
sets an expedition towards the original bunker to explore the
place and gather junk. They find the building safe, every robot
disabled and rusted because of the absence of maintenance, the
tribesmen gather old books, weapons and other useful things from
the bunker, before turning it into a giant temple dedicated to
their three gods.
Another century pass, after years of wars and battles against
other factions in Arizona the Wild Eyes are less powerful than
before, having lost most of their outposts and the control of
some territories the tribe’s new elder decided to change
their way of thinking, avoiding useless raids and battles and
slowly turning them into a more, less bloodthirsty, peaceful
tribe.
23 November 2248, Arizona.
Luis Sera, the last known survivor of the tribe, is born. At the
age of twelve, after successfully completed his Initiation Rite,
he’ll escape from his destroyed village along with his
uncle and other tribesmen, ending up in the Washington State
after years of wandering.
17 December 2248, Arizona.
Tom Hope, a tribal of the Wild Eyes, was born. He would
eventually turn into a survivor of the Wild Eyes, going a
different way like the rest of the other survivors.
25 February 2249, Arizona.
Some farming communities group together and attack the
tribe’s main village, the Wild Eyes eventually manage to
defend themselves, driving the farmers away before
counter-attacking, showing to the Arizona that even if they were
less powerful than a century ago they still were a powerful
enemy to deal with.
17 May 2250, Arizona.
Zoey Kane, second known survivor of the tribe, is born. At the
age of ten one of the Initiates will try to rape her,
she’ll defend herself by eating the rapist’s throat
before escaping, ending up in Washington.
7 February 2257, Arizona.
Some tribe’s scouts return to the village with the news of
nearby destroyed villages, no one knows what or who attacked
them, only that the attackers were strong, deadly and without
mercy.
After this notice the elder decides to prohibit the entrance on
the main village for allies and friends outside the tribe,
sending warrriors from the village towards other outposts to
keep an eye out for the misterious enemy.
4 October 2260, Arizona.
With the excuse of slave trading the Blackfoot tribe attacks the
Wild Eyes main village, thanks to the surprise effect the
attackers quickly managed to take advantage over to the Eyes,
killing every man, woman and child before burning down the
village, leaving nothing other than ashes and corpses behind
them.
Two days later Luis’ Initiation group will return after a
successful rite, they’ll find the village destroyed, its
ruins still smoking, the group, composed by Luis Sera, Hillian
Sera, Francis Douglas, Carlos Grant, Joshua Mitchell, Caesar
Valpado and Tom Hope will depart towards an unknown destination,
most of them will die after months of wandering, only Luis will
survive thanks to the help of Denver’s NCR scavengers...
5 October 2260, Arizona.
One day after destroying the main village the Blackfoot tribe
sends out troops towards Arizona borders and Wild Eyes
territories in an attempt to stop survivors from escaping and
completely destroying the tribe. The few who managed to escape
from the main village but didn't reach the border in time will
die trying to slip out from the state, the outposts, overhelmed
by the Blackfoot forces, will be burned down and the guards
killed, turning the tribe into a small, scattered, group of
refugees, who will probably die or be enslaved in the following
days...
I'll probably expand the backstory, adding more details or more
events after the tribe's destruction, everything will depend on
my inspiration...
Feel free to comment here, tell me what's good and what's not, I
will gladly accept any kind of critic :3
EDIT:
If you want to make a char with this faction as backstory you
can, just ask me first :3
