"Important" Suggestions.
DIR By: Altairp
Date: May 20, 2013, 10:40 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Recently me and Birf talked about some goods suggestions that
could bring something new on WA (And maybe make this fallout
server go a bit hardcore)
This is what we tought, I'll quote the things he said on the
other topic plus add something more.
We need more conflicts.
-> More faction activity, e.g. more Legion vs. NCR, more Raiders
vs. Wasters.
More Legion.
-> The Legion is the major threat in this roleplay, noone plays
Legion though. I would like the admins to see through the Legion
applications thread and change the format of the application
slightly.
We need more events (just as mentioned by Altairp).
-> More global events, more small events (especially for new
players).
We need more survival roleplay.
-> It's Fallout and we're in Washington. CL cut the NCR supply
lines. CC doesn't have everything in stock. We need to roleplay
for food, water, medicine. No infinite storages of alcohol and
food anymore.
No infinite CC stock of weaponry and ammo.
Character concepts to keep the wasteland alive.
-> 80% of the characters are either mercenaries or soldiers. You
can't roleplay without contracts or conflicts and since the
mercinaries aren't fighting against the bigger factions (NCR,
BoS) in some sort the wasteland seems pretty 'dead'. That's why
we need more scavengers, more doctors, more farmers and
generally more people without combat-based jobs (excepting
bandits or raiders, which leads me to the next point...)
Mind the dangerous wasteland.
-> In the wasteland we have outlaws, legionaires or animals. We
need more of them. We also need people to fear the wasteland and
it's threats. Someone already said that a lot of people tend to
play 'whiteknights'. It's alright if your character is a helpful
person, but keep in mind that you're fighting to survive. Not
everyone is to be trusted and if you're doing proper survival RP
you may find yourself fighting other players for goods.
Focus on Fallout.
-> The last point would be to focus on Fallout lore. No events
anti-lore. No concepts anti-lore. It's survival RP.
Plus:
"Eventer" or "Gamemaster" rank.
->An admin who focuses on only making events and RP situations
for players, who can spawn props, ragdolls and items to prepare
everything.
Primary needs.
->By putting a plugin that adds hunger, thirsty and the need of
sleep into the game we will force people to actually eat, drink
and sleep, for me it will add more on the passive RP, both
during resolving the needs and in the search of food and water,
since right now no one actually does that (Put an afk mode too,
so the player won't die if he stays afk for too long)

Traders have to order the supplies, not asspull things.
->Traders should order their things, a limited number of them
once per week, before selling them, to avoid sellers who have a
shitload amout of different things inside their magic backpacks.

I agree with Birf's suggestions, but the others..
""Eventer" or "Gamemaster" rank.
->An admin who focuses on only making events and RP situations
for players, who can spawn props, ragdolls and items to prepare
everything."
First of all, events are supposed to be rare things, thus called
"event". I personally wouldn't like to see an event every 5
minute or so. And RP situations can be created by players.
Events should be used in server-wide things.
"Primary needs.
->By putting a plugin that adds hunger, thirsty and the need of
sleep into the game we will force people to actually eat, drink
and sleep, for me it will add more on the passive RP, both
during resolving the needs and in the search of food and water,
since right now no one actually does that (Put an afk mode too,

I don't agree on this at all. We had this on a METRO2033RP
server, which food is VERY rare. People just had T flags,
spawned themselves food and water, and we had to stop RP every
few minutes to eat, drink etc. This means T flags = survival.
You cannot buy a stack of food with 50 caps, eventually it will
run out. This will end up in many new characters dying
eventually. Also, while RPing, you forget the time and I
wouldn't like dying in middle of RP because I forgot to eat
food.
"Traders have to order the supplies, not asspull things.
->Traders should order their things, a limited number of them
once per week, before selling them, to avoid sellers who have a
****load amout of different things inside their magic
backpacks."
TOTALLY TOTALLY TOTALLY AGREE

I agree to most points in the quote but to
Eventer: It's not like the operators don't have enough time
because they focus on something else and making someone an admin
just so they can focus on events would be wasted capability.
Primary needs: Nobody stops you from roleplaying your primary
needs, especially not the lack of OOC force. And since this is
not DarkRP we will never have this OOC pressure, it would even
prevent people from actually roleplay properly and also VG
removed it because it crapped up.
Scarce supplies:

CC is only cut off one way, it can still go North and around the
Legion. Meaning LARGER caravans rather than frequent caravans,
supporting the Order system but not the limitation system.
With the recent outpost this is the perfect reason for the CC to
have a large stockpile of resources, since all the Caravan
traffic has a point to deliver a large amount of goods to.
The event point is quite valid actually, as Fallout is filled
with notoriously memorable antagonists, plots, and concerns.
There's no real looming threat or event that forces people to
take action, and it's also the small moments in fallout like the
alien crash site in fallout 3. There isn't really a chance to
actively RP scavenging since (even with the new system) people
just run around grabbing stuff. Having someone to put in the
opportunity to set up an encounter where you find something that
could be potentially valuable or dangerous and have them focus
on progressing that could in my opinion make scavenging a more
active RP experience.
NO HUNGER/THIRST BAR. PEOPLE ARE FAIR WITH RPING THAT. People do
actually quite FREQUENTLY buy food from me as a CC trader,
especially new players.
The Op or gamemaster or whatever could probably also instigate
conflict between factions, progressing the storyline.
Just my opinion anyway.

This is why you cannot go north to avoid the Legion and most
caravans are raided before reaching Washington.
There are opporunities to actively scavenge or have some
different roleplay, you just have to take a closer look around.
And unless we get at least some players on some factions, we
cannot progress the storyline and have a conflict between
groups. Legion passive roleplay can actually be quite fun and
the application format will be made easier.
EDIT: Caesar's Legion applications are made easier.

There's still territory up north, and there are bound to be a
few other settlements in Washington. After all, it is highly
contested area.
