WIP backstory for my faction.

The Imperial Virginian Japanese Army began before the Great War.
After the surrender of Japan, POWs who were released mainly
stayed in the United States. Eventually, an organization began,
full of POWs. The organization began as a peaceful veterans'
association throughout most of it's existence. It was not until
the late 70's when they began to gather supplies, preparing for
a nuclear Armageddon with the Soviet Union. When the threat
calmed down, another one arose in 2050 when the Resource War
between the People's Republic of China and the United States of
America began. The organization was slowly losing members but
continued to gather supplies. Only a good 10 years later when
the vault construction began, they assured nuclear destruction
was imminent. All of it's members were payed the money required
to be given a spot into seperate vaults, and gained their
positions rightfully so. When the Great War began, they took
note of the situation and began stockpiling weaponry and began
building their own bunker. Unluckily, when the bombs did drop,
the bunker was meaningless as the entire population turned into
feral ghouls. Those who did take refuge into different vaults,
grew their own societies inside the vaults. One of the vaults
was luckily outfitted with a massive armory and most of the
population was in the Imperial sphere of influence. The vault,
being known as Burkittsville, was a standard vault. Much like
vault-city, there were no experiments and was set to open at a
specific date.
Vault politics themselves weren't very friendly. The Overseer,
being a control-type of person, attempted to control the
populace. The Imperial Conglomerate inside the vault did not
stand for this. After putting up with it for long periods of
time, they sent members in the vault security to assassinate the
Overseer. Unluckily, he knew about their plot and was able to
send the rest of the security force to defend himself and
imprison the Japanese. The Japanese had previously planned for
an uprising in the vault and hid items in a wall, inside the
prison cells. Using laser pistols and batons they were able to
escape and finish their uprising. With the Overseer dead, they
had, for the first time, gained access to the Overseer's office.
From this location they had learned that the vault was scheduled
to open in only four years. They had also gained access to a
database of history, literature, and reading. Due to most of the
population being 12th generation Imperials, they were lacking on
knowledge. Through educating the populace via the database, they
regained their nationalistic nature. They would spend the next
four years in the vault creating weapons, crafting flags and
uniforms, and learning. Their population grew to a number of
106, which is quite large in relation to most factions except
the NCR and Caeser's Legion.
After four years, they had been a very closed society. Once the
vault opened, they sent out a single man to leave, to find that
he didn't come back. After sending out ten men armed with
rifles, they found that cannibals had been living there waiting
for them to leave. After dispersing the primal tribe, they soon
began to gather resources and grow. They would spend the next
few months inside the vault, with patrols to see what was in the
outside world. In little time, they had found the city of D.C,
full of mutants. After reporting this to their present Emperor,
they found that it was their mission to cleanse the world of
these evils. It was not long before they began to build mines
and houses outside the vault. The population had begun to move
out of the vault and into the cities, but denied anyone who
wished to leave or enter the society. They gained much from
trading with the local Brotherhood of Steel for Vault-Tec
technology in return for technology. The broken down and
destroyed Enclave was supported by the Imperial government and
took in refugees. This was disliked by the Brotherhood but it
was something they were forced to deal with, because the
Japanese were a formidable foe.
The Japanese were distasteful of their geographical position.
They decided to launch an operation of industrial growth. Due to
the lack of industrial technology, their form of industry was
workshops and mines. Slavers from as far as Redding would bring
back slaves for the Empire. Many of the major factions did not
take note of this rising power, but the sun began to set. Due to
their position, they were quite limited in terms of resources
because most of the population had taken all that there was.
This lack of growth caused a massive time of unrest, almost
leading to their collapse. The slaves began to escape and they
couldn't afford manpower for their land and were forced to
lessen their borders. They decided that it was time to have an
open-border policy. Many people who had no homes or were wanted
were accepted into the Empire. The Empire grew, and regained
their previous borders. After such a sudden downfall, they had
an economic boom of food, water, and weapons. The Vault owning a
water purifying chip, they were able to have an endless source
of water. The vault, which owned a G.E.C.K, was saved for the
homeland, but even without this tool, they were able to
fertilize their crops and have plantations. After studying
accounts by restored literature from the libraries, they set it
as a goal for the Empire that the first men to find a secure way
to the homeland would be honored with the utmost gratitude.
Hundreds of men set out to find the coast and conquer land for
the Empire, some of them returning to spread tales of the riches
of the west. Most of them, dying or being annexed into different
factions, one of them succeeded in finding the coast. They found
that the land was very unstable and powerful. The small group
began to enter the borders, dressed in dirty wastelander
clothes. Eager and ready, they immersed themselves within their
societies and began to grow. The group was shadow and unknown to
everyone. It was not until the time was right when they began.
