Still, there is no reason not to have a court, it gives the
server the aspect of being unique compared to other servers. A
court would also give the player's friends a chance to save
him/her show how he/she is different, and to possibly lessen the
punishment. I'm not saying that the staff is of no use, the
staff is still used in the court.

What if the player's friends were not involved? How would they
know what really happen? If the player's friends were involved,
then they can post on the unban section. Having a section on the
forums would be more practical and efficient. "You do the crime,
       you do the time."

They might not have been involved, but they can still tell the
moderators and administrators how the player is a good player
and how it was really just a mistake that it probably wouldn't
happen again, and how they know that the player is really worthy
       of a second opinion.

Well the whole "friends" thing is relevant to the specific
situation... though I also do agree that if someone does
something wrong, they should serve it, without the possibility
of having it lessened, considering they broke a rule. Also, yes,
it would be more practical and efficient. For this reason, we
can allow the players to have the option of whether or not to go
to court, almost taking a risk at your punishment. For example,
the staff member can say something like, "your punishment is a
48 hour ban. Would you like to accept this, or take it to
court?" By accepting it, they serve the 48 hours, and that's the
end of it. By taking it to court, the jury and judge could
possibly find the defendant to deserve even MORE time, and give
him a full week of being banned. But then again, they could find
him to deserve only 24 hours too. This way it's a risk at what
you do, therefore less players will choose to go, bringing down
the mass of people who're being reported to go through a while
       court case.

This is the most brilliant reply in this entire topic. If Luke
       agrees, I like this idea.

I don't care how good of a person you are. If you broke a rule,
you broke a rule. Now since you broke that rule you should
reread the rules, and wait for the punishment to be over. I
think we should forget about the entire in-game court system,
and just make an unban section of the forums, where players that
disobeyed the server rules, can go protest their ban if they
think it is unfair. You must come to reality, an in-game court
system is unpractical. Instead of protesting your ban in-game,
just protest it on the unban section.

If there is to be un-ban section, then there should be two
topics for every ban appeal... one for the admins/moderators and
the player than is appealing... and another for those players
who want to rant/explain their views about the banned player and
have a public poll on the second topic to vote for the
       punishment.
Luke, can we at least agree on this?

No, as I stated before, the player doesn't decide his/her
punishment, the staff do. And if there was a public poll, then
people who did not witness the problem would be voting.

I'm pretty sure you didn't read that correctly.. I'll try and
       explain it to you.
       2 Topics per ban:
...one for admins/mods, and the banned player to discuss the
       ban.
...and the other for the friends/supporters of the banned
       player.
There will be the original punishment by the staff posted at the
top of the second topic (having been started by a staff member)
so the players can now reply with their opinions while not
       bothering the staff.
The staff will have a vote poll on their topic of the banned
player choosing the punishments provided in the comments, and
they shall decide upon a punishment through the vote poll
       option.
       Better?
