Super Eagles under pressure against Malawi -Garba Lawal
By: goodluck Date: September 3, 2013, 10:47 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
AbujaNigerian ex-international, Garba Lawal, has stated that
though the Super Eagles would beunder pressure when they
confront the Flames of Malawi in the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup
qualifier ties in Calabar this weekend, they would subdue their
       visitors.
Speaking toDaily SunSportson telephone from Kaduna at the
weekend, Lawal however dismissed the mind games the Malawians
had deployed, stressing that the Super Eagles, banking on their
current form would defeat the Flames.
"I believe that Malawi will not ordinarily be a threat to us. I
have a strong feeling that we will defeat them no matter the
situation. But I know that it is not going to be an easy one
because the Malawians are not under any pressure.
"The Super Eagles are rather the ones under pressure.
Considering the rate of the mind game from the Malawi camp, one
would look at them as serious threat, but I don't see them
upsetting the Super Eagles. We are going to bury them in
       Calabar," he noted.
Asked if the input of Belgian tactician, Tom Saintfeit, who had
threatened he was coming to Nigeria on vengeance mission
determine the result, Chindo, as friends fondly call him said:
"No matter the input Saintfiet may make, I don't see Malawi
upsetting Eagles in Calabar. If he likes let him come on
vengeance mission to Nigeria, Malawi must fall in Calabar this
       weekend."
Would Eagles late preparation affect the team in anyway, Lawal
argued: "There is nothing like late preparation because almost
all theplayers prosecuted matches for their European clubs this
weekend. There was no way they would have arrived camp earlier
than this week. It surprises when they said the home-based would
have started but the truth is how many of them would be involved
       in this game."
He also took time to speak on Victor Moses joining Liverpool on
loan from Chelsea, describing it asa good move that would
equally bring out the best of him this season.
"I was glad when I saw him watching Manchester United and
Liverpool, which was a confirmation that he has joined Liverpool
on loan from Chelsea. Liverpool is the best option for him since
he was not in the plan of Chelsea new manager, Jose Mourinho.
"There is no doubt that his performance would be a continuation
of the Moses we sawat Chelsea last season. I have a strong
conviction that he would make his contribution at Anfield this
       season," he added.
