The Daily Mirror report that Europa League winners Chelsea are
considering loaning Demba Ba back to Newcastle as he couldbe
surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge following the signing
of Cameroon striker Samuel Eto¡¯o. Chelsea owner Roman
Abramovich is planning ashake up of his forward line as he is
concerned about the spiralling wage bill at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea now have 4 front line forwards in Fernando Torres,
Samuel Eto¡¯o, Demba Ba and Romelu Lukaku in their squad. While
it was predicted that a loan move for either Ba or Lukaku was
imminent, it looks like Ba will be the one loaned outthis summer
after Lukaku impressed in his loan spell with West Brom last
summer and is expected to see some proper game time in a Blues
       jersey this season.
Newcastle are supposedly very keen to bring their former striker
back on loan to help themput up a better showing in the league
this season. Ba was a huge success at Newcastle before he moved
to Chelsea this January for 7 million pounds.
Meanwhile Chelsea are asking Newcastle to pay up as much as 3
million pounds for the deal, which could be a stumbling block in
the move going through. It is being reported thatNewcastle have
identified Lyon¡¯s Bafetimbi Gomis as an alternativeoption to
their forward line should they fail in their pursuit of Ba.
With just 2 days remaining in thetransfer window though one can
expect a quick solution to Ba¡¯s situation.
