The development of the vehicle was started in
1942. In April 1943 the General Motors company produced the
first prototypes. One of a few American tank destroyers
manufactured on its original chassis, not on a chassis of a
tank. The tank destroyer became the most high-speed armored
vehicle of this type of World War II. A total of 2507 vehicles
were produced from July 1943 through October
1944.
Pros and Cons.
Pros
Good damage, accuracy, aim time and penetration for its tier
Excellent gun depression
Very good camouflage values
Can passive scout if needed, thanks to good Camo values.
Extremely good speed; second fastest TD in the game (first is
E-25)
Above average view range
Can go hull down at medium to long range thanks to its gun
mantlet
Accelerates quickly
Can scout in a pinch
"Peekaboo" tactics are very rewarding
Cons
Extremely weak hull armor: even HE penetrates with ease
Slow turret and hull traverse speed
Painful grind to the 90mm gun
Struggles to maintain top speed
Ammo rack and engine are prone to damage
Second worst DPM out of all tier 6 TDs, only better than the
SU-100Y
Open top mounting vents is not possible
Crew skills (first set)
sixth sense (MUST)
Rest of crew put camo this is the hellcats ONLY defence
Recommended Equipment
Camo net
Binocs
Gun rammer
since this tank has a turret you are able to make full use of
camo net and binocs (keep that in mind)
Play style (mine)
at the start of the match i like to use its speed and rush
foreword to a good AMBUSH position don't use it as a scout at
the start of the game. once in this position with your excellent
view range with your binocs and camo net set up you are able to
put shots into your targets before they even detect you but once
you've fired a few shots use your speed to get the HELL outta
there DO NOT stick around. the only defense a hellcat has is its
awesome stealth and its HP pool USE your stealth first using
your HP must always be a last resort don't take hits that you
could have avoided.
since the hellcat has NO armor be careful of any and all enemy
tanks they are entirely capable of killing you be careful of
tanks with derp guns eg. m4 and pz4 they will do full damage to
you. the only armor that can (If your VERY lucky) is your gun
mental and since this TD has a turret this allows you to only
show your turret this with its very good gun depression you can
pull of shots that the other tier 6 TD's could not do.
since the hellcat is so fast you always have the option of
getting the hell outta dodge if your flank falls and re-position
always the other way around if you see another flank fall you
are very capable of reinforcing said flank.
at the end of the day the hellcat is a thinking mans tank you
must always have a route in and out of the area you go too +
learn the maps pick spots where your strengths of your machine
really shines and always be on the look out for concealment
(bushes). remember a stealth hellcat is a happy hellcat and a
not so happy enemy team when they watch you pick them apart one
by one with your deadly 90 mm.
Early Research
If coming from the T49, the 76mm M1A1, top radio and top engine
will carry over.
If coming from the M10 Wolverine, the 76mm M1A2 and 2nd engine
will carry over.
Top engine carries over from the scout line, the Shermans and
the M7 Priest.
Top radio also carries over from the SPGs.
Research priority should be M1A2 (if coming from T49) or top
engine (if coming from the M10), followed by tracks, turret,
90mm gun and finally radio.
let me know what you think of this if you found it useful ill
try and do some more
