       Rick's Speech

I've never liked Rick's speech, in which he tried to keep the
group going by telling them about how his grandfather survived
combat in WWII by viewing himself as the Walking Dead. It just
felt like an excuse to use the second most famous sentence in
       the Walking Dead comic book.

You're right it did. It was almost as if they realized they
hadn't used that line before and so they decided to shoehorn it
into the dialogue just for the sake of fanservice.
The whole delivery of it just fell flat IMO and Daryl adding "We
ain't them" didn't make it any better.

Actually, I liked that Daryl rejected Rick's suggestion that if
they wanted to live, they should consider themselves dead. That
brought Daryl out of his depression over Beth's death, and it
showed Daryl doesn't always agree with everything Rick says.
