Carol had nothing to do with Sam's death

I keep seeing the argument that Carol is the reason Sam couldn't
remain calm in the herd of walkers because of that story she put
in his head to scare him.
Sorry but I disagree. Sam was fully capable of not thinking
about that story but he let his fear get the best of him.
Enough of the Carol blaming, it's ridiculous.

I agree, blaming Carol for Sam's death is ridiculous.
Blame Jessie for not ordering Sam to go with Gabriel and Judith
to the church. Blame Rick for not making it easier on Sam and
telling him that he could best help them by staying with Gabriel
       and protecting Judith.
Carol told that story to scare Sam, but she added the cookies as
a bribe. Sam kept hanging around Carol too; he obviously wasn't
       afraid of her.
